>
michel comte first exhibition in austria
Artist Michel Comte was born 1954 in Zurich, Switzerland. The professionally trained art restorer approached photography autodidactically.
1979 Comte received his first international advertising assignment
from Karl Lagerfeld for the fashion house of Chloe and moved to Paris.
Work for the American Vogue lead him in 1981 to New York and later
on he took residence in Los Angeles. „I have always lived on the edge“,
Comte states on his restless persona. „If I no longer have a sense of
risk I immediately move on. I probably inherited that from my grandfather.“ (Swiss aviaton pioneer Alfred Comte)
Within a few years, Michel Comte evolves to one of the most soughtafter fashion and magazine photographers in the world. For Vanity Fair
and Vogue, he portrays numerous celebrities from the world of art,
movies and entertainment, ranking from Julian Schnabel, Jermey Irons
and Demi Moore to Mike Tyson and Michael Schumacher.
Comte‘s advertising clients include famous names such as Armani,
Dolce & Gabbana, Nike, Lancome, Revlon, Ferrari, Jaguar and Mercedes Benz.In addition to portrait photography and fashion Comte has
also increasingly moved towards photoreportage and docucumentary.
On photo assignments for the international Red Cross as well as his
own Michel Comte Water Foundation he has travelled war zones and
unstable areas in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Sudan and Cambodia.
Albert Watson September 2010
>
albert watson first exhibition in austria
Albert Watson has made his mark as one of the world’s most successful
fashion and commercial photographers during the last four decades,
while creating his own art along the way. Over the years, his striking
images have appeared on more than 250 covers of Vogue around the
world and been featured in countless other publications, from Rolling
Stone to Time to Vibe - many of the photographs iconic portraits of
rock stars, rappers, actors and other celebrities. (Albert was the official
Royal Photographer for Prince Andrew’s wedding to Sarah Ferguson.)
Albert also has created the photography for hundreds of successful
advertising campaigns for major corporations, such as the Gap, Levi’s,
Revlon and Chanel, and he has directed more than 500 TV commercials and shot dozens of posters for major Hollywood movies. All the
while, Albert has spent much of his time working on personal projects,
creating stunning images from his travels and interests, from Marrakech to Las Vegas to the Orkneys. Much of this work, along with his
well-known portraits and fashion photographs, has been featured in
museum and gallery shows worldwide. The photo industry bible, Photo
District News, named Albert one of the 20 most influential photographers of all time.
Born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland, Albert studied graphic design
at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, and
film and television at the Royal College of Art in London. Though blind
in one eye since birth, Albert studied photography as part of his curriculum. In 1970, he moved to the United States with his wife, Elizabeth,
who got a job as an elementary school teacher in Los Angeles, where
Albert began shooting photos, mostly as a hobby.

It was then, in 1990 when Verglas moved to New York with his camera and his vision.
Pluck and pertinence paid off, with documentary style photo series for French Elle which

Gérard uféraS
Gérard Uferas came to fashion late on in his career - he shot his first fashion pictures in
1999, having made his name in arts reportage, and looks at this most photographed of

a more mannered time, is its ultimate detachment, the purely voyeuristic nature of the
work.
He has received a host of awards for his work, which appears in collections at the Maison
Européenne de la Photographie, the Union Centrale des Arts Décoratifs, the Bibliothèque
Nationale de France, the National Gallery in London, the Musée de l’Élysée, the House of
Photography in Moscow, at the Salzburg Festival, and in the Fonds National d’art Contemporain, and the Henkel collection in Germany.
