De Brusselse singer-songwriter Jan-Pieter Delcour brengt met zijn groep The Fortunate Few (finalist Zennetoer en popfolio) "story pop" met een heldere, meeslepende sound. ! De liedjes van The Fortunate Few neigen naar "sing and song" en dompelen je onder in een wereld van verloren onschuld. ! Heerlijk hemelse stemmen drijvend op een strakke groovy ritmesectie, tel daarbij op de fluwelen stem van leadzanger Jan-Pieter Delcour en je bent vertrokken voor 11 pareltjes van songs op dit eerste titelloze album. Soms balancerend tussen stilte en geluid, soms lekker 'groovend', maar toch vooral elke keer weer aangrijpend. ! Het nummer "Marillon" uit de eerste EP werd opgenomen door radio 1 en werd als weekwinnaar opgepikt door de muziekredactievan Studio Brussel voor VI.BE ON AIR. Zo kreeg ook het nummer Sudden Void weerklank op FM Brussel. ! De muziekrecensenten schreven mooie woorden neer voor de eerste EP van deze groep: ! "De groep rond Jan-Pieter Delcour slaagde er met 'Marillon' alvast in om een bijzondere eerste single af te leveren en dat werd geapprecieerddoor velen. Met hun intrigerende laagjes en authentiek geluid griffen The Fortunate Few 'Marillon' in je muzikaal geheugen" (Cuttingedge) ! Live weten ze ondertussen ook hun mannetje te staan. Zo stonden ze reeds in de Nijdrop, Dranouter Muziekcentrum, AB Club, De Gentse Feesten, Het Vijverfestival, FAZ en vele andere plaatsen. Maar het mooiste was het voorprogramma van Gabriël Rios in het Openluchttheater Rivierenhof. ! Recensie support act Gabriël Rios: "de liedjes vertonen een levendige afwisseling en ook een sterke muzikale onderbouw. Het nummer Sudden Void werkt aanstekelijk.Deze band heeft na dit voorprogramma zeker vele aanhangers bijgewonnen." (Concertnews) ! In december 2013 komt de groep met hun eerste CD die werd opgenomen in Motormusic. De CD kwam er in samenwerking met producer Walter Janssens en soundengineer Jasper Maekelberg. ! ! 1.Voorstelling groepsleden ! Jan-Pieter Delcour: Lead voice - bass - guitar Jan-Pieter Delcour is singer - songwriter, bassist en gitarist. Hij was bassist bij de hedendaagse folk crossoverband (BUB) Nu is hij zanger - bassist bij de popformatie: The Fortunate Few. Als bassist van (BUB) werkte hij mee aan 2 albums waarvan de productie in handen was van Peter Vermeersch (X-Legged Sally, Flat Earth Society, producer o.a. dEUS en Think Of One) en Christine Verschorren (Raymond van het Groenewoud, Zita Swoon, ...). (BUB) had concerten op het Internationaal Folkfestival in Tilburg, Dranouter, de Gentse Feesten, De AB, en tourde in Nederland en Estland. Met The Fortunate Few verzamelde Jan-Pieter Delcour een mooi palmares bij elkaar met o.a. concerten in Nijdrop, Dranouter Muziekcentrum, AB CLUB, Gentse Feesten, Vijverfestival, FAZ en als voorprogramma van Gabriel Rios in het Openluchttheater Rivierenhof. ! ! ! Frank Van Overstraeten: keyboard – backing vocals Frank Van Overstraeten speelde saxofoon bij (BUB) waarmee ze 2 cd’s uitbrachten. Hij speelde ook 3 jaar bij Les Truttes. Hij verdiepte zich enkele jaren in de jazz samen met Bart Van Lierde (bassist Zornik, Zita Swoon,...), schreef een 7tal schoolmusicals en houdt zich ook bezig met filmmuziek. Frank laat zich graag inspireren door soundtracks, schuwt geen enkel genre en houdt zielsveel van muziek. Hij stopt graag de nodige emotionaliteit in zijn muziek. ! ! Nele Jans: backing vocals Uit een muzikale familie komende, stond Nele Jans reeds vanaf haar 16de op de planken als mede-frontzangeres alsook backing bij coverband 'Constantly Pregnant' ( Gentse feesten, Smak, Wambeekse feesten,...). Ondertussen deed zij divers studiowerk (Kris Baert radio 2,...) en de vocale begeleiding bij enkele theatervoorstellingen. In kleine bezetting verzorgde ze de muzikale begeleiding van verschillende evenementen ( Leeds castle England, Sandwich,...). Sinds 2009 maakte ze deel uit van ‘Lost Chord Radio ’(Charlatan Gent, cc De Steenoven,…) , samen maakten ze een plaat geproduced door Frederik Dejongh (Jerboa, An Pierlé, Dez Mona…).Het nummer ‘shine’ was ook te horen op Studio Brussel als Vi.Be On Air ! ! Joke Delcour: backing vocals ! Joke Delcour zette haar eerste stappen op het podium via de stage in Gooik, al snel werd ze mede- frontzangeres van het jongerenorkest Transpiradansa ( Dranouter festival, Gentse Feesten, … ) Daardoor kreeg ze de kans mee te zingen op verschillende cd’s als front en backing vocal, zong ze op een aantal theaterproducties en werkte ze mee aan verscheidene projecten zoals Changer (Riet Muylaert, Klaas Delrue, Hans Van Cauwenberghe,… ) en Soundtrack van de Demerbroeken (Lennaert Maes, Andries Boonen, Annelies Brossens,…) waarmee ze plots ook op Radio 1 hoorbaar was in duet met Jan De Wilde. ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Jonas De Meester: guitar ! ! Jonas Demeester staat al sinds z’n 14de op de planken met folk - rock collectief ‘Aedo’. Hiermee speelde hij op zowat elk folkfestival in binnenland (Dranouter, Gentse Feesten) als buitenland (NL, Rudölstadt DL, Andancas Portugal,…) Ook verzorgde hij 2x het voorprogramma van ‘The Levellers’ en een heuse theatertour doorheen culturele centra. Ondertussen volgde Jonas Jazz-Studio te Antwerpen. Hieruit groeide de liefde voor de gitane muziek en sloot zich aan bij ‘Les Bandits de Belleville’, waarin Django centraal staat. Als vogelvrijverklaarde in blues en folk, begint Jonas samen met broer Pieter de groep ‘King Dalton’, dit met Tomas De Smet (Zita Swoon, Think of One), Jorunn Bauweraerts (Laïs) en Frederik Heuvinck (A Brand) aan hun zijde! Ze zijn sinds kort te horen op Radio 1, speelden een reeks ‘Zalige Zondagen’ in Charlatan Gent en verchenen op verscheidene podia (Maanrock, Gentse Feesten, OLT Rivierenhof, …). ! ! Ludo Stichelmeyer: percussion – drums ! ! Ludo Stichemeyer heeft al veel podiumervaring opgedaan als percussionist in het folkmilieu. (EmBRUN, Triple-X, Los Pablos, ...) De laatste jaren bevindt hij zich al vaker achter de drums in andere genres zoals met 'Bogus', een mix van folk, jazz en Balkanmuziek) Ook bij The Fortunate Few zorgt hij met op drums voor de strakke en groovy sound van hun popsongs. ! ! ! ! ! Productie ! ! Walter Janssens is regisseur/muzikant. Hij speelde als contrabassist o.a. bij de Brusselse Band VENUS, De Schedelgeboorten, Helder,... Nu speelt hij contrabas bij de Balkan Band DJURDJEVAK. Hij was jarenlang de muzikale helft, componist/tekstschrijver van het cabaretduo MANMANMAN. (oa NekkaNacht, Nekkawedstrijd, Cameretten...) Hij was co-producer bij ROTJONG van De Schedelgeboorten en creative coach bij de opnames van Dichters Dansen Niet. Regie: Hij regisseert vooral muziektheater: Les Petites Frappes ( internationale percussie en humor-act) Teatro Do Montemuro – Portugal Kommilfoo Oblomov-Gerry De Mol De Propere Fanfare van de Vieze Gasten Hij regisseerde en schreef de muziektheatervoorstelling GILGAMESJ bij theater Malpertuis, met oa Steven De Bruyn en Roland van Campenhout. Ook neemt hij de regie voor zijn rekening van het maskerspel van de voorstelling ‘Ensor’ van compagnie Cecilia (Johan Heldenbergh en Arne Sierens) en van de nieuwe monoloog van Raf Walschaerts “Jongen Toch”. Arrangeur/producer Kinder CD-voorstelling: ‘Blaas het Licht maar Uit’ van theatercompany VUIL KONIJN. Walter werkt voor het eerste samen met ‘The Fortunate Few’ aan een stevige live-performance en zet nu de samenwerking verder als producer van hun eerste volwaardige CD. ! Engineer & Mix ! ! ! ! Jasper Maekelberg studeerde muziekproductie in het Gentse conservatorium, daarnaast is hij Multi- instrumentarist. Hij studeerde 6 jaar klassieke piano, jazzzang en jazz – gitaar en bespeelt de drums. Hij kreeg les van ondermeer Gert Jacobs, Gyuri Spies, Bart Van Caeneghem, Vincent Pierins, Godfried-Willem Raes, Peter Lesage, Dirk Blanchart… ! Hij speelde bij verscheidene bands (Yuko, Hypochristmutreefuzz, Bear Run, Manhog, Horny Housekeepers) en werkt momenteel aan een solo plaat met zijn eigen concept “ Faces On TV”. ! Productie & Engineerervaring Als producer & engineer deed hij de nodige ervaring op in verscheidene studio’s: Audioworkx, NL, Motormusic, Bijlokestudio, Puits Des Bruits, La Chapelle… ! Hij werkte het laatste jaar als producer of engineer aan volgende platen: Mintzkov (nieuwe plaat) Jef Neve: Sons of the New World Douglas Firs: Shimmer & Glow Scrappy Tapes: Scrappy Tapes The Rocket: Not everyone grows up to be an astronaut ! ! Live-Engineer ! Als fanatieke muziekliefhebber en muzikant voelde Gert–Jan De Clercq zich reeds van jongs af aan aangetrokken door de techniek van de muziek. ! Hij werkte een opleiding slagwerk af aan de muziekacademie te Overijse en drumde bij verschillende bands. Uiteindelijk besloot hij verder als geluidstechnicus door het leven te gaan. ! Gert–Jan studeerde voor deze opleiding bij LGO en begon in 2009 voor 30CC in de Stadsschouwburg te Leuven te werken. Een bijkomende cursus “Monitors” volgde hij bij BEO. !
