April May 2015 Issue LYNNWOOD LINK SPRING FLING 2015 The 2015 Spring Fling is right around the corner…This coming Saturday May 23 get your grass skirt, cheesy Hawaiian shirt and of course your best lei out as it is time to kick spring into full gear with this amazing Hawaiian Luau themed event. The event will kick off around 5:00 pm and our Dinner will start around 6:00pm. This year with the Hawaiian theme we are going with a classic roasted pig as well as some Hawaiian style chicken. There will also be salads and desserts to accompany this festive meal. The cost for the dinner is $7.00 per person or $25.00 per family. Please note dinner is optional but the party dancing and fun with your neighbours is free! This is a party for everyone friends and family of all residents of Lynnwood Community. So come out, have fun and meet your neighbours in your wildest Hawaiian get up. We will have prizes for best dressed! Again we are always looking for volunteers for our events so please feel free to contact us if you want to get involved and help out to plan this amazing event!! Keep the Ravine Clean The date has been set for Friday May 29th at 6pm to do our annual ravine clean up. Please volunteer if you can spare the time to help keep our beautiful ravine clean. If you can believe it or not registration for the 2015/2016 hockey season is coming up quick and a little early this year. We are looking for Initiation 2A players, children born 2009-2010 and Novice players, children born 2007-2008. The Lynnwood Canucks Initiation and Novice hockey teams are community league teams made up of children born between 2007-2010. Although we are community formed teams, we are a part of Hockey Edmonton through Whitemud West. Our teams are tiered based on the average of our players after being evaluated through the Whitemud West evaluation process. Our teams play city wide against all Edmonton teams within their tier. Residency in Lynnwood is not mandatory. The sound system is available for $50.00 per event, and it must be appropriately insured through the third party liability insurance, purchased through Foster Park Brokers Inc. 4 Lynnwood Link Presidents Pen Hello Lynnwood, spring has arrived and looks like summer is just around the corner… Well we are in full bloom now and I have seen some beautiful yards being set up for another year, great job to all who take so much pride in their property it truly helps to make our community stand out as one of Edmonton’s hidden gems in the center of our ever expanding city. Our Karaoke party was a huge success, thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a fun successful night! The 2015 Spring Fling is this coming Saturday and I am so excited to see the best Hawaiian outfits and to get myself some of that tasty Hawaiian grub! We are hoping to get all community members, new and old out for this annual event. This is such an amazing party and is a great opportunity to start the year off with a bang and get out with all your neighbors. I hope to see all of you there this coming Saturday. Doors open at 5pm Dinner at 6pm. Our Annual General Meeting was held at the end of April and our Community Executive is as strong as ever and we will continue to represent our community and the needs of our constituents. It is with sad hearts that we are losing two members of our executive, Dacia and David Herman our Social Coordinator and writer of our Lynnwood Link who are moving on to a new home outside of Lynnwood.
