Hoping for a Home
The June newsletter is dedicated in loving memory of William Franklin Walker (a/k/a Leaky Billy), a tiny angel in a fur coat, whose spirit
continues to inspire, comfort and strengthen us.
Desmond/M/3-5/IL I’ve got a
tail that can’t stop wagging.
Luv…luv people, play, toys,
snuggling up in my own bed,
and I’m housetrained. What
more could you ask? ME!!!
Velvet/F/2-3/WI Black schnoodle
from a puppy mill. Soft, curlyhaired girl. Sweet and sociable.
Jasmine/F/4/WI Squeak at me,
and I love you! I came from a
breeder and have discovered toys!
I’m delighted and delightful.
Morrie/M/ /IN Channeling Morrie:
I’ve been loved and I’ve been abused.
I want, more than anything, to feel
safe and loved. Ed Note: also not fed
very much: Morrie is very thin.
LuckyJoe/M/8/IL NO need for
tablecloths! I’m great at
keeping things warm: tables,
pillows, laps. And I’m lucky:
with a great foster mom,
looking for a mom of my own.
Herbie/M/3/IL Rescue is cool!

the greatest treat.
I hope everyone appreciates how these lives get saved … they get saved because of people who network, transport, foster, recruit their
friends and adopters to foster, sew, create beautiful quilts, design calendars, do Petco, put dogs on Petfinder, write articles for the
website and newsletter, pay our bills, schlep newsletters to vet clinics and grooming shops, talk to coworkers about rescue, handle dog
records, fundraise, pray … they are saved because of you.
Every dog in this rescue has every volunteer in this rescue standing behind him or her. And you. We couldn’t do it without you. They
wouldn’t be alive without you. When you receive your newsletter, look carefully at each of the little faces. You transported, sewed,
contributed, thought of us, spoke to a friend or a vet. You prayed for our dogs. You saved them. We are saving lives and changing
lives, one dog (and one person) at a time.~ Bekye Walker
Angels: Thanks to you for your generosity with time, funds, understanding, and / or special projects:
We share our thanks to the people who give of their time, their time, and their money. Because of your faith in our members and our

AUGUST 3 Taste of Roselle / Roselle, IL
Carly & Molly / F /3.5/ WI PERFECT. They are adorable, housebroken
completely, wonderful, sweet, loving, kissy, kind, gentle, BONDED,
healthy, quiet, gorgeous, playful, and ready. They have been no trouble
at all. They spent last night next to each other curled up next to Jim's
belly. They are eating fine, but they have sad eyes. They NEED a home.
Kobe/M/6/WI Lovebug with
underbite looking for person with
love. Shy, underweight, and
happy personality: I’d like to share
your refrigerator and greet you
with a smile each
morning…day…evening….
Austin/M/2/IL
Gosh darn cute guy! (And a natural
blonde) Lookin’ for a partner to
hook up with. I’m the best. I’m
cute. I’m loveable. And did I
mention that you and I would
make a perfect pair?
Gilly/M/8/OH
Gilly was found by animal control,
wandering aimlessly on a country
road. He came into rescue
emaciated, sick, with yeast
infection and flea allergy, as well
as dry eye from lack of care. Once
he gains weight, he will be a great
companion for a very lucky family.
Piper/M/6/WI
Maltese dog, champion at pillow
riding, looking for like-minded
friend. Let’s snooze together.
Lexi/F/13/SD extremely sweet,
quiet, well mannered, housetrained
and loves to sleep on pillows. I am
black & white and only 10 lbs. All
I want is a home where I can be
next to my person all the time, get
loving care, and pillows.
Tink/M/1-2/WI Tink’s a small
Yorkie, good with other dogs,
people, and animals. He is
affectionate and great!
Lily/F/2/WI 10lb, looking for a fun
family to call my own. I love being
with people and other doggy
playmates. I'm still full of puppy
spunk and waiting for my forever
home
Sophie in MN: She will be two years old in October but has had a very
sad life so far. Her first owner had three small boys ages 5, 3, and 15
months. The children would throw the dog down the stairs and would
also grab her leash and twirl her around while she was clearly afraid and
choking. They would kick and tease her, and terrorize her with loud
noises. As a result, this pretty little girl is terrified.
Half Pint/F/MN I’m young, I’m
cute, and even the old dogs love
me! What more could you ask!
Gino/M/10/IL Baseball lovin’ boy
(See my T shirt? All-American
colors!) looking for a home that
appreciates the finer sports:
cuddling, food toss, snuggling,
blanket surfing. A hot dog or two
would not be amiss.
Sonny/M/4-5/IL Hello, I was a
puppy mill baby, so when I first
came to my foster mom I was so
frightened that I didn’t know what
to do with myself other than sit in
a corner and hide. Now, I know
how it feels to be loved and I’m
ready for some play time fun in the
sun! Please help me find my
forever home and I’ll love you
forever and always!
Benny/M/10 months/WI Benny
came from a puppy mill, and is
with a foster mom who will teach
him about love. He’s caramel and
white, with lovely eyes. After just
two days in a loving home, Benny
is growing into a loving and
delightful boy.
Lizzie/F/4/IL I came into rescue
from a shelter. My hair is growing
back (bad food, bad story). Life is
getting better now. I love rescue.
Davie/M/6/IL My owner went off to
college, and her parents didn’t
want me. I’m friendly, love
attention, and need time to warm
up, but once I am, I’m your friend.
Hannah/F/9/IL
I came into rescue from a shelter,
and right now I’m scared. After a
little time, I’ll feel much better.
Ping/F/9/WI Ping is a small black
and white dog, shy and loving.
Suzie/F/9/WI Suzie (on right)
came into rescue from a mill; she
is shy and needs socialization.
Buttercup/F/9/WI Happy, perky,
and 1,000 watts ON. ME! Butter
up your life with my blonde beauty
(I want another dog as companion
so we can all love together).
Kiki Dee/F/2-3/WI
Schnoodle, gorgeous, with melting
eyes and a sweet face. I came
from a puppy mill.
Lacy/F/ /WI
Came into rescue as a puppy mill
release.
Bruno/M/7/WI
Long-suffering boy seeks fun-type
girl. Object: love.
Jackson/M/6/WI seeking TLC.
Puppy Mill survivor with a gentle,
sweet and playful personality. I
am hoping to find someone who
can accept me with my special
needs to cuddle and snuggle, I’m
your man. Love, Jackson.
Lady/F/2/IN I was found
wandering, but now – with good
food and friends – I’m full of
energy, bouncy, and ready for fun.
Crawford/M/1
I was left in the night drop box at
a shelter. I’d like to drop into your
life and stay.
Jesse/M/7-8/IL I found toys, like
being with other dogs a little more
than people (I’m still learning
about life outside a puppy mill).
But I do like being loved.
Dusty/M/IL
Hiya! What more could you ask
for? The smile says it all!
MurphyW/M/3/WI
Skinny, scared, and waiting to be
in love.
Poodle Mix F /IL Little Holly is a 2
year old poodle mix that is
extremely shy. Sadie is a 5 year
old Maltese who is fearful, and
when she came into rescue, afraid
of being touched.
Panda/F/13/WI
Soft as a panda, and just as cute.
Pebbles/F/7/WI Sweet, sad and
nervous. She loves people better
than dogs, so far. She did not want
dinner until I gave her her own
chair with a little meal for herself
Molly Doll /F/ 9 /MN I’m a
beautiful, doe-eyed blonde and
white female, perfectly sweet in
every way, and have the best
manners of any foster dogs my
foster family has ever had. I’m
potty trained and looking for a
loving home.
Lilly/F/12/AR
The shelter was going to put me
down, but here I am! I can outtalk
and outwag any dog twice my
(10#) size. Happy Girl of the Year,
and glad to be clean and free.
Missy/F/3/WI
A backyard breeder dumped me at
a shelter because I wouldn’t have
babies to make him lots of money.
I’m scared, patient, kind, and need
someone to love me.
Precious/F/13/WI I'll fill your lap
with love. I'm considered a
"designer" because of my varied
pedigree, but darned if I care. Just
give me a calm, quiet home where
I can lounge at my leisure.
Ruby/F/9/IN Shy, quiet, and eager
to be cuddled. I came into rescue
from a place I’m glad to leave
behind. Speaking of that, they got
my tail. But my head is okay and
my heart is looking for love.
Rudy/M/2/IN I’m cute and proud
of it! I’m a love sponge and am
looking for a lap to call my own.
How about it?

Daisy
Daisy came from a shelter in Texas, Mary from Arkansas rescued her and Linda fostered Daisy and the pups for about 4 weeks and
now they are here in Illinois with me. They were born April 21, All of them weigh about 2 pounds now. We are not sure at all what
they are, Mary thinks Daisy might have a little poodle in her, but nobody is sure. We are not sure who the Dad(s) are/is. They are
all really cute, Daisy is a great mom! ~ Sandy
Cody/M/15/IL
Look into my eyes…you love
me…you LOVE me…and I love you.
Spirit/M/
All knobby knees and lookin’ for
love. I tip my head when my
foster mom talks to me (she likes
that).
Gracie/F/ /WI
I lost the only mommy I knew, and
was put into a shelter, but now I
am in a foster home, hoping for a
new mom or dad.
Brewster/M/1/IN
Zow! Powie! Crash and slide
into home or the kitchen
cabinets – whichever comes
first!! I’m Brewster, full of
energy! Love boy! ZAM!
Whoosh!
Prince Charming/M/WI
Snuggle bunny in the making. My
former owners beat me up.
Lookin’ for an understanding
friend.
Cinders/F/10/WI
Shy girl, wants to stop being a
wallflower and bask in the sun of
your affection. I’m built for
snuggling. I’m tired of being
Cinders; I want to be Cinderella.
Sugar/F/5/WI
My mom died, and the people I
was living with have no money to
care for me and a baby. I’m
loving, housetrained, cuddly.
Smokey/M/8/IL I’ve got a
great smile and a stubborn
streak, but give me something
to smile about, and I’m yours.

admiring you. I’m housetrained
and loyal. Be my sugar, and give
me a ring.
Mel/M/ /IL My foster mom loves
me. She lets me sleep with her,
she walks me, and she knows my

Who we are
Each new foster has brought a new experience for me. Even though she is being groomed tomorrow, she was a stinky girl and I
wanted to soak the crust from her eyes…but once I got her into the tub she was so scared and shaking so hard that the only thing I
wanted to do was hold her tight….so Saturday I took a shower with a dog for the first time in 53 years (previous boyfriend excluded). ~

All contributions are tax deductible.
New Beginnings depends on the generosity of our foster families, our members, and our donors. Without funds and foster homes, we
cannot rescue dogs. The average veterinary cost for one of our dogs is $425. The average adoption donation is $250. How do we
leap the gap? Love, faith, donors, and belief that what we do makes the world a better place, not only for the dogs, but for the people
they love.
How much do people give? Donations have ranged from the dollar at Petco to more than several thousand. People give to the dogs
from their hearts, and since we work from our hearts, that is what is important. You may not foster, you may not transport, you may
not be adopting a dog from us; by sending your thoughts and donations, know that you also are part of our organization and our
mission.
Help our mission to rescue those who need us.
All our members are volunteers, so 100% of your contribution goes to the dogs.
And, since we are a charitable organization, donations are tax deductible. You will receive a letter acknowledging your donation.
Yes, I want to help the dogs. Enclosed is my tax-deductible donation.

Thank you.
The Sunshine Kids They’re older, they’re wonderful, and they’re in rescue in a dog world where it sometimes seems that
everyone wants a cute, young, female puppy. Take a look at our sunshine kids, because any of them would bring life and sunshine into
your heart. Bring one of these seniors home to have love in your life.

Soft, warm, adorable: I can be all those
things. I can also race you around the
dining room table for the Shih Tzu 500. I’m
a really talented girl.
Domino/M/13/WI Sweet old man looking

have babes that need to be cared for,
please contact my foster mom Carol.
Lettie/F/11/MN I don’t let blindless or
lack of hearing stop me from enjoying
the good things in life. I love to
snuggle on the sofa, nap in my own
bed, eat, and sit in the sunshine.

All Is Well
Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed
together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household world that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well.
