Angels Glorious, Saints Victorious: Sacred Art from Viceregal Peru
We can thank Catholic religious rivalry for the delightful development of colonial
painting in Viceregal Peru. In the 16th century, many Catholic orders arrived in
Peru, each wanting to convert the highest number of native Americans. Using
images of angels, saints and Bible stories, the artists of the newly-formed Lima
and Cuzco schools of painting produced dramatic, sumptuous and emotional
pieces of spiritual art to spread the teachings of the Catholic Church to Peruvians
who did not speak Spanish. This exhibition presents 50-60 of these spectacular
religious works from the finest collections in Peru.
Organized with Gamaarte Peruvian Cultural Association

creativity and expert craftsmanship. Included in the exhibition are costumes from
blockbuster productions such as The Duchess, The Phantom of the Opera, Pirates

The Eye of Napoléon
In addition to his political and military callings, Napoléon had an appetite for
women and beautiful things. He showered his wives, his lovers and his family
with lavish gifts commissioned from the grand luxury manufactories of France,
which he also employed to furnish his many royal palaces. The Eye of Napoléon
features the art that figured prominently in the life of the charismatic ruler:
paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, books, jewelry and decorative arts.
Through these objects, The Eye of Napoléon ties us to the times and tastes of
Napoléon, who shaped the style of an era, commonly known as the Empire Style.

1849, Rush!
In 1849, some 300,000 people immigrated to California to try their hand at gold
prospecting. Of those who survived, very few made it rich. Still the prospect of striking
it rich lured “gamblers” from all over the world. Rush! is now beckoning you to share the
historic challenges, ventures and obstacles of a gold rusher. As you navigate through the
exhibition you will see photographs, maps, artifacts, original documents, tools and personal
effects while using interactives and tools of chance to determine your success (or failure) as
a prospector. Will you be one of the lucky few?
Organized with Geoffrey M. Curley & Associates
SPACE REQUIREMENT: Approximately 7,000 square feet / 650 square meters
POPnology
It is astounding to see the science fiction technology of our childhood become reality. We can
ask ourselves: Did the producers of Star Trek invent the smart phone? And what science fiction
today will become reality tomorrow? POPnology takes us from fantasy to reality - the driverless
car, gaming stations and tomorrow’s toys, robots, drones, 3D printers – and so much more!
POPnology examines the past, present and future of technologies that have been, and continue
to be, inspired by popular culture.
SPACE REQUIREMENT: Approximately 8,000 square feet / 740 square meters
Organized with Stage Nine Exhibits
Fragile Beauty: Ancient Roman Glass
Everything we know about glass production today was known by the ancient Romans. We
start from this premise as we experience a modern exploration of an ancient craft. Through
70 stunning objects from Italian collections we explore various glass techniques and types of
objects produced by ancient Roman artisans who were key in the development of modern
glass working methods.

The Maple Leaf Forever: A Celebration of Canadian Symbols
Opening in time for Canada’s celebration of its 150th anniversary, this wonderfully nostalgic
exhibition presents Canada’s most iconic symbols in their many forms. Take, for example, a
hockey bubblegum card or a carved beaver in a corncob box. The artifact symbols highlight
Canadian patriotism, pride and ideals. Do you know which symbols appear as the most iconic
of all? The maple leaf, the beaver and the Canadian Mountie.
Organized with Donna & Nigel Hutchins
“ I never imagined the Cube would
become as universal as it has. I’m
hoping that this wonderful exhibition
will finally answer the question of
why: why has the cube connected
with hundreds of millions of people
everywhere on Earth?”
- Ernő Rubik
Rubik’s Cube Inventor
“ It’s exciting to see fans take on some
of our favorite experiments from the
show while drawing their own conclusions and data. Although they are
tackling the same myths and questions, each guest can have a unique
experience within the exhibit.”
- Adam Savage
MythBuster
“If you are a fan of the MythBusters
show, this is a dream come true. You get
to test things yourself, you get to touch
everything!”

Vice President of Development,
