L’Hôpital juif de réadaptation, surnommé « le joyau caché de Laval » est un service
public bilingue qui accueille une clientèle culturellement diversifiée, en maintenant les
liens traditionnels avec sa communauté fondatrice juive.
Depuis plus de 100 ans, le YM-YWHA offre des services de qualité visant à répondre
aux besoins sociaux, culturels, récréatifs, physiques et intellectuels de ses membres
(actuellement quelque 10 000 adhérents), utilisateurs et invités. L’organisme est
ouvert à tous les groupes d’âge et offre une programmation variée.
Notre hôpital offre avec fierté la plus haute qualité de services spécialisés en réadaptation
à des patients hospitalisés et traités en externe dans les domaines de la pédiatrie, de la
traumatologie, des AVC, de l’orthopédie et de la neurologie pour ne citer que ceux-ci.

L’Hôpital juif de Réadaptation, en tant qu’organisme affilié à l’Université McGill, contribue également à
la recherche, à l’enseignement et à l’évaluation dans les domaines de la technologie et des méthodes
d’intervention clinique. L’HJR et son Centre de Recherche Feil-Oberfeld, de renommée mondiale, ne
ménage aucun effort dans la poursuite de son objectif qui est de demeurer une institution innovatrice à la
fine pointe de la technologie et en même temps un leader dans le domaine de la réadaptation physique.
Le Y favorise la santé et le mieux-être en subventionnant des programmes de sports
d’équipe pour les jeunes, comme nos célèbres équipes de basketball les Wolves, et
en offrant des programmes qui ont pour objectif d’inciter les jeunes à être plus actifs,
comme le Programme d’entraînement physique et de bien-être pour les jeunes.

L’objectif de ce programme est d’aider les jeunes qui ont un surplus de poids ou qui sont sédentaires à
intégrer des habitudes saines à leur vie de tous les jours en participant à des activités physiques et en
mangeant mieux, tout en planifiant un style de vie sain. Les objectifs du programme pour les jeunes visent
à les garder actifs, heureux et engagés.
Les recettes générées cette année par le tournoi-invitation de golf JRH/YM-YWHA seront affectées au fonds
de financement de notre innovatrice Unité de Recherche Clinique pour la réadaptation des AVC. Cette unité
promeut, en se basant sur l’évidence et en restant orientée vers les patients, la meilleure pratique dans le
traitement thérapeutique des AVC avec un impact direct sur l’amélioration des soins envers le patient. Ceci
nous permettra de mieux bâtir en nous appuyant sur la force existante et la capacité de notre recherche
exceptionnelle ainsi que celle des équipes cliniques et nous permettra également de nous assurer de la
croissance continue de notre hôpital tout en améliorant le haut niveau de soins que nous dispensons déjà.
Cette année, les produits du tournoi de golf sur invitation organisé par l’HJR et le YM-YWHA aideront
le Y à continuer à fournir l’excellence dans la programmation pour l’esprit, le corps et l’âme. Par notre
programme d’aide financière, nous nous efforçons de faire en sorte que les membres de la communauté
soient en mesure d’utiliser nos gymnases, notre piscine, le Centre de conditionnement Ben Weider, le
Centre de Lutte Reinitz, les cours de conditionnement physique de groupe, et tout ce que le Y a à offrir.

Interim Executive Director’s Message
The Jewish Rehabilitation Hospital has been dubbed Laval’s hidden gem. We are a public, bilingual facility,
serving a true cross-section of the region’s diverse population. Our hospital proudly provides the highest
quality of specialized rehabilitation services to inpatients and outpatients in the fields of Pediatrics, Trauma,
Stroke, Orthopedics, and Neurology, to name a few.
For over 100 years, the YM-YWHA has been providing quality services to promote the social, cultural,
recreational, physical and intellectual needs of its members (now some 10,000 strong), users and guests.
The organization reaches out to all age groups, focusing on children, youth and young adults.
The JRH, as an affiliate of McGill University, also contributes to research, teaching and assessment in the
areas of technology and methods of clinical intervention. The JRH, and its world-renowned Feil/Oberfeld
Research Centre, spares no effort in its quest to remain an innovative institution at the cutting edge of
technology and a leader in the field of physical rehabilitation.
Proceeds from the JRH / YM-YWHA Golf Invitational will be directed towards the funding of our innovative
Clinical Research Unit for Stroke Rehabilitation. This unit promotes evidence-based, patient-oriented, best
practice treatment in stroke therapy, with direct impact on improving patient care. It will build on the
existing strength and capacity of our exceptional research and clinical teams and allow us to ensure the
continued growth of our hospital and improve on the high level of care that we already provide.
The Y encourages health and wellness by subsidizing youth team sports programs such as our highly
acclaimed Wolves Basketball teams and by running programs aimed at getting youth and teens active, such
as the Teen Fitness & Wellness Program; whose aim is to help overweight or inactive teens incorporate
healthy lifestyle practices into their daily lives through physical activity, proper nutrition and healthy life
planning. Program goals for youth are directed at keeping them active, happy and engaged.
Proceeds from the JRH/YM-YWHA Golf Invitational will help the Y continue to provide excellence in
programming. Through our financial assistance program, we strive to ensure that members of the
community will be able to use our gyms, pool, Ben Weider Fitness Centre of Excellence, Reinitz Wrestling
Centre, group fitness classes, and all that the Y has to offer.

Nous voulons faire part de notre gratitude à tous nos golfeurs, commanditaires ainsi
qu’aux bénévoles sans lesquels le succès de la journée n’aurait pas été possible. Nous
sommes également très fiers de cette initiative qui a rassemblé de manière efficace
deux organisations communautaires essentielles afin de ramasser des fonds de plus de
500.000$ dont nous avions tant besoin.
Le 15 août, nous avons fait équipe pour accomplir un objectif commun visant
l’amélioration de la santé des gens. Le tournoi de golf présenté par l’HJR et le
YM-YWHA soutient des initiatives essentielles aux deux institutions.

We’d like to express our gratitude to all of our golfers, sponsors and volunteers, without whom the success
of the day would not have been possible. We are so very proud of this initiative, which effectively brought
two vital community organizations together to raise over $500,000 in much needed funding.
We gratefully acknowledge our event Co-Chairs, Michael Feil and Peter Lewis, for their tireless dedication
towards this collaboration. Their deep commitment helped bring to life their vision of a tournament infused
with elegance, class and fun.
Finally, we’d like to thank the teams of the JRH Foundation and the YM-YWHA for the incredible support
that they offer to ensure the seamless success of the day. We look forward to being able to continue to
count on your support and generosity.

On August 15, we teamed up to fulfill a shared goal of improving people’s health. The JRH/YM-YWHA
Invitational benefits essential initiatives at both institutions. This tournament represents the Y’s 18th
(chai) golf event.
Courtesy of your generosity, we help individuals get healthy through highest quality facilities, motivated
staff, and modern approaches to health. We believe health resources should be accessible to everyone,
and your contribution facilitates that objective. We offer the building blocks of success, all stemming
from a whole-person approach of developing health, wellness and self-confidence.
Based on the beliefs, values, and missions of both the Y and the JRH, we collectively raised over $500,000
under the banner of “Together for Health... Ensemble pour la santé.”
