Muñoz Musings…. . .
Greetings and Happy Thanksgiving! It is hard to believe that we are nearing the
end of November. As we close out the week, I reflect on how thankful I am for all
of you. I have met so many wonderful and caring people in my journey in joining the LMS family. I
think back to my first time of meeting the LMS faculty and staff in early April and how nice it is to now
really know them as colleagues and great human beings. It also has been enjoyable to connect with
parents, and I would like to let you know how much I appreciate your support. It has also been a real
joy getting to know the students as impressive individuals with so much to offer. Thank you for the
dedication, humor, growth, and PRIDE you exhibit in and around our community. I enjoy working with
you all in making LMS the very best!
I hope you all spend quality time off with friends and family and come back from break energized for a strong finish to
2015! We are excited to offer two engaging, academic support days on December 5th and 12th. These events will
align with LMS teachers reinforcing and extending curriculum and topics already discussed in the classroom. If you are
planning to attend, please know that we will be sending out a link to a document which will need to be completed by
Thursday, December 3rd.
When walking through the hallways in the mornings and afternoons, I constantly fill with pride when seeing our students and teachers taking advantage of “help sessions”. These opportunities are impressive when considering that all
levels of ability attend. Students that may need an extra explanation on topic, or those students who are simply soaking up all that our impressive teachers have to share. For both parties, I extend my gratitude for your dedication towards achieving your best.

Another path for success for us to finish strong is to continue those open lines of communication. I appreciate knowing
that parents, students, and teachers are all on the same page. Parents and students, please consider taking 5 minutes
to discuss best moments, learning opportunities, or fun times spent each day. It might feel a little forced at first but can
quickly become a favorite part of the day. In addition, if there are concerns, it is equally important to openly share so
support may take place.
Another great way to finish strong is to continue finding ways to get involved at our special place on Main Street. This
past week, we offered clubs, activities, sports, SAC, interscholastic basketball games, volunteer opportunities and a
phenomenal Winter Band Concert. So much to enjoy, please consider a conversation with the sponsor to get started.
One Proud Pirate, Brian Muñoz, Assistant Principal
Thank You!!!! Thank you Mia Lukac and Becky Fase for organizing and nearly 40 parents for baking! Each and every staff member at LMS received a pie this year. We are so thankful to have such a suppor ve community around us. Thank you to Impact on Education.
LMS received $983 this year. That money goes straight into our student opportunity fund. Our student
opportunity fund enables student to play sports, provides kids with any materials needed inside and outside of the class room to make them successful. It enables them to play sports, have back packs, shoes
bus passes.

Dear Families,
LMS would like to invite your student to participate in The Hour of Code on Friday, December 11 from 3:304:45 as part of Computer Science Education Week! This event allows students an introductory opportunity to learn
computer science coding skills. Last year, 15 million students tried computer science in one week. This year, we're
joining students worldwide to reach 100 million students.
We live in a world surrounded by technology. And we know that whatever field our students choose to go into as
adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly hinge on understanding how technology works. But today, only a tiny
fraction of students learn to code and fewer are studying it now than a decade ago.
The Hour of Code is ready to teach these foundational 21st century skills. To continue bringing programming activities to your students, we want to make our Hour of Code event huge, and hope that your student can attend.
