Library Board What’s up with the weather? STEM Café on Tuesday, April 1st @ 7 pm will teach you about weather forecasting. See the ad on page 2 for more details. International Tabletop Day is Saturday, April 5. Come to the library between noon and 5 pm to play tabletop games. We will have games available, but you can bring your own! There will be pizza and drinks, too. The library is pleased to welcome Marion Blumenthal Lazan, author of Four Perfect Pebbles, on Monday, April 7 at 7 pm. She will speak about her experiences as a child during the Holocaust. Copies of her book will be available to purchase from Ferguson Books and More! National Library Week is April 13-19. We have some fun things planned throughout that week, so be on the look out. Windows 8 driving you crazy? Don’t let it get the best of you. Our new IT specialist, Bryan, will be teaching a Windows 8 class on Thursday, April 24 @ 6 pm. It’s the Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale. See what they have to offer Thursday, April 24, 5 - 8:30 pm, Friday, April 25, 9 am to 4:30 pm, and Saturday, April 26, 9 am to 4:30 pm. Coming soon - the greeter desk. Someone will be stationed near the entrance, ready to help anyone with questions about where things are, what services the library offers, and more. by Aaron S. Specialist, I started working here February 24th, 2014. What brought you to the Library? How has working at the Library affected your life? What are some of your favorite books? I have more free time to spend at home with my family, and they are always welcome to participate in events going on here at the Library as well. I have kids and our favorites are The Cat in the Hat, Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See, and No, David. My current book is Communion, a True Story. I have worked with the library in the past and enjoyed the experience. Everyone here has always been great to work with. What do you like best about your job? I am always looking for a good challenge and working in I.T. provides exactly this. What do you like to do outside of work? Take my family to Northern Air Family Fun Center. STEM in the Library: Geosciences was held on Sunday, March 2nd (see picture below). On three Saturdays in March from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Girl Scouts from Troop 20002 read to children in the Grand Forks Public Library Children's Dept. (pictured below) The 23rd Annual Hands-On Learning Fair will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Purpur Arena in Grand Forks. The fair features an exciting variety of learning activities for children from birth to age seven, including art, science, water play, music, dramatic play, interactive stories, and an infant toddler area. The mayor’s proclamation will kick off the event at 9:45 AM, and the activity floor is open from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. If you attend, please visit the Grand Forks Public Library Storytime Tent.
