that ranks her 11th overall on the women’s all-time fastest list.
Over 1,000 runners yearly take advantage of the opportunity to run in the Bizz Johnson, an event that
uses the famous Bizz Johnson Trail. The event offers runners a 10k, a Half Marathon, the Express Half
Marathon, a Marathon and a 50k.
The Bizz Johnson National Recreation Trail, a 26-mile scenic trail assembled in 1986, is the longest RailsTo-Trails in California. It utilizes the path of the old Fernley and Lassen Branch Line of the Southern
Pacific railroad built in 1914 and runs from Mason Station (5,220’), climbs about 280 feet over 6 miles to
the Westwood Junction (5,500’) from where it slowly drops 1,300 feet over 20 miles down into
Susanville (4,200’).
The trail crosses eight wooden bridges and about four miles from the finish it goes through two old
railroad tunnels, 800 feet and 450 feet in length. Passing through shaded pine and fir forest and
woodlands early on the trail’s last 16 miles goes through the Susan River Canyon and follows the Susan
River. The gravel trail is used year round by hikers, joggers, runners, riders, cross-country skiers,
horseback riders and fishers accessing the river.
On several occasions some of the girls have raced this one with great personal results.
Lake Natoma Four Bridges Half Marathon, a popular training event for the CIM, offers a scenic course
using the bike trail that circle the shores of Lake Natoma in Folsom. The course has occasional rolling
hills, crosses four bridges, goes through shaded old growth oak trees and natural wildlife habitats and
finishes with a challenging uphill. The relay option is made up of a 3.7, a 4.1 and a 5.3-mile segment.
Point-to-point along the California coast from Big Sur to Carmel the Big Sur Marathon, held since 1986,
is a hugely popular event. Half of the roughly 10,000 runners participate in the Marathon, the largest
rural marathon in the world. The rest of the participants are split between the 3.1-mile, 9-mile, 10.6mile, 13.1-mile, 21-mile and marathon relay options.

through redwoods, parallels ranches, and offers a stunning view of the Pacific Ocean. . Cool weather.
Several of the tri girls have qualified for and run in the famous Boston Marathon over the years.
the Boston Marathon
The Boston Marathon, first held on April 19, 1897, with a field of 15, is the world's oldest annual
marathon and ranks as one of the world's most prestigious road racing events by virtue of its traditions,
longevity and method of gaining entry into the race (via qualification) plus the fact that it is one of the
fastest courses around. It now passes by some of the most famous women’s colleges in the world.
The 500,000th finisher crossed the finish line in the 2013 event.
The historic 100th running of the Boston Marathon in 1996 attracted 38,708 official entrants (36,748
starters; 35,868 finishers). In 2003 the entry was capped at 20,000. In 2011 a record number of females

course around. Starting on the Stinson Beach the course then heads up, up and away into the thick
wooded trails of Muir Woods. You'll follow the legendary Dipsea trail to Steep Ravine, climb a wooden
ladder, march up natural rock and wooden staircases and scramble under tree trunks.

redwoods and oaks. Your summit will be rewarded with panoramic vistas as you begin your descent
back into Stinson Beach. The event is limited to 300 participants.

starting near the Diestelhorst Bridge and running up to the Ribbon Bridge and back. The course includes
the hilliest part of the River Trail, but for the most part it is fairly flat and very scenic.

historic Tower Bridge twice, pass several iconic landmarks including the historic Tower Bridge, the State
