Mrs. Worcestor was the first beach queen at Hampton Beach. Back on September 9. 1915 she was crowned as the Carni val Queen. How did she win? It was a little different in those days. In order to meet expenses for the Carnival week activities which were always held the week following Labor Day instead of the week prior as is now done, candidates tor the honors were culled upon solicit funds. The 1915 beach queen re c a ll that she took the top honors as she was able to collect (with the help o f her dad) something over $300.
