New England C o n t e s t Mrs.
Blanche (Thompson) Worces
ter, 4 Parkview lane, Bradford,
Mass., returned to the scene
of her triumph o f nearly 50
years ago.
Mrs. Worcestor was the first
beach queen at Hampton Beach.
Back on September 9. 1915
she was crowned as the Carni
val Queen. How did she win?
It was a little different in
those days. In order to meet
expenses for the Carnival week
activities which were always
held the week following Labor
Day instead of the week prior
as is now done, candidates tor
the honors were culled upon
solicit funds.
The 1915 beach queen re c a ll
that she took the top honors
as she was able to collect (with
the help o f her dad) something
over $300. For her efforts she
received a large heart shaped
box of candy, a small diamond
ring a n d an airplane ride

Dew is moisture manufac

are regions on our planet where
the dew is sufficiently heavy

Few realize that each droplet
of dew in the morning sunshine
is a mirror; the images are up
side down but if one uses a
hand lens he can see a nearby
tree or a white cloud in a blue
sky. Those who know the peace
and beauty o f dawn time, know
that some of Year’s most ap

dew.
There are beautiful patterns

clovers and strawberries have
distinctive arrangements; often
a grass blade has one large,
gleaming drop at its tip.

There are language students
who claim that dew. from the

our most beautiful words. That
is a matter o f opinion, but there
are many who know that when
the sun strikes the dew at dawn,
there are beautiful pictures.
