Sustainability
A Detailed Consideration
We are committed to sustainability by taking multiple steps
during fruit and by-products production.
Very detailed consideration and selection of
future production areas: location, soils,
water source, lemon climate aptitude, previous use.
Water Usage
In areas where irrigation is needed, the latest technology
is incorporated to minimize the use of energy
and to make the most efficient use of water possible.
Also, all water sources are managed in order to
avoid possible contaminations or depletion
of this most important natural resource.
Fertilizer Usage
To minimize and improve fertilizer usage,
Citromax SACI constantly measures fruit growth, soil
and air temperatures, soil and leaf nutrient concentrations.
Agrochemicals Usage
We very carefully select which Agrochemicals to use,
bearing in mind: legal restrictions, consumer safety,
workers health and the possible impact on beneficial insects.
The internal MRL’s are set using the most restrictive
of Argentine, EU, USA, Japan and other
market legislation, as well as clients restrictions.
Wild Life Preservation
CITROMAX SACI has more than the 50% of its total land
as natural forest conservation. This represents more than
4000 hectares. We have an agreement with Wild Life
and Forest Preservation Foundation to increase
biodiversity in non-cultivated areas.
Workers
CITROMAX SACI has more than 900
direct workers who receive constant training,
plus 1,600 pickers from labor companies
Relationship with the Community
Nurtured/long-term relationships with the community, primary
schools, universities, non governmental institutions
Other relationships in Tucumán
Citromax SACI keeps a constant and fluent relationship with
the aboriginal communities that are living on neighboring
fields to ours, most importantly with the Solco-Yampa group.
Labor Unions
A permanent relationship with Labor Unions
representatives and participation in frequent
meeting to improve our work environment.
Blueberry Project with Berrymax-Our Blueberry Project started 8 years ago with 120 hectares
and now number close to 200 hectares. The lemon season ends
September-October just as the blueberry season begins.
Our seasonal pickers stay on to harvest blueberries through January.
This project provides the opportunity for our workers to
remain home with their families, instead of traveling thousands of
Kilometers south for the apple growing region for more employment.
Anaerobic Digestor
With our new state-of-the-art factory we have also
constructed a new generation wastewater treatment facility
to treat all of our effluent. This system turns our
wastewater into both water suitable for irrigation and
methane to use in our co-generation boiler.
Anaerobic reactor: the process
The good efficiency of USAB Process is mainly due to:
•  An adapted distribution of the effluent inside the reactor
•  A well design separation system to recover treated
effluent, gas and to stop the sludge (PAQUES patent)
•  A good internal recirculation
•  A good external recirculation
•  A good granular sludge quality
•  A adapted temperature
Use of Renewable Energy Sources
At our New Jersey Headquarters, we have installed 1,200
solar panels on the rooftop & parking canopy, reducing our
electric usage by more than 50%. We are committed to
reducing out carbon footprint in all of our properties worldwide
and look into many ways to accomplish that.
Organic Production
Citromax SACI has presence in the Organic Market.
Two of our lemon fields are certified organic.
More than 8% of lemon productions and 30% of
blueberry production is certified organic.
Thank You!!!
