The Search Committee has developed our Parish Profile
which gives us an overview of where we are
as a parish and as a part of the Anglican Diocese
in New England 2016. It talks about where we have been
and where we are today, how we were an
inner city church and moving to the suburban area.
Please be sure to read this publication and give your
honest evaluation of how it is prepared and accuracy.
Feedback is wanted and needed by June 15 for the next
phase of this process. Give them your thoughts,
on a marked up copy of this publication in the
collection plate, signed or un-signed, mail to the office in
attention of Search Committee. Thank You !

From the Rector...
Dear Friends in Christ,
This will be my final Tablet article as your rector. The June submission will be a copy of my final sermon
to the parish, printed so those who cannot attend service on June 26th will still know what I had to say.
As a reminder to all ya’ll, here are the terms, agreed upon by the Bishop and Vestry, under which I am
retiring:
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Both Don and I will retire from positions of leadership (Music Director for Don, Rector
for me) on June 26th.
There will be one service on Sunday, June 26th at 9AM, for both me and Don. More information concerning that service will be forthcoming soon.
Upon retiring as your rector, I will take a month’s vacation (July) and the Interim Rector, Charlie Sutton, who has been appointed by the Bishop and accepted by the Vestry, will
take charge.
Charlie has agreed to lead worship two Sundays a month and one Vestry meeting a month. As outlined by the Bishop, Charlie will have the privileges and authority of the Rector until such time as a new Rector is called.
Both the Bishop and the Vestry have agreed to name me as Rector Emeritus of All Saints, and in addition, I will remain on the payroll for two years. My duties will be two services a month, remaining as head of the Pastoral Care Team, and being available to parishioners during the week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
All questions normally directed to the Rector will be directed to Charlie Sutton.
The Search Committee will complete a profile of All Saints and begin a profile of the priest they believe God is calling to our church. The position will be advertised and
candidates will be interviewed. The final selection will be made by both the Bishop and the Vestry, together.
Those are the highlights but they leave so much unanswered. For example, who will head up Christian
Ed? Who will lead music? Will there be any Fellowship events planned? What about our annual BBQ’s?
Without a secretary, who will organize and send out mass mailings? Who will keep tabs on and order
supplies? Will All Saints be able to call a full time priest, or will the church find itself able to support a
bivocational priest only?
I have no answers to any of those questions. I have done my best to prepare us for this moment but
parishioners will necessarily be required to rise up and take charge. Over the years we have had some
excellent leadership in the parish and we have been quite active in fellowship, education and worship.
More recently, most of this work was left to me and Katie. Now it is up to you, individually and as a
church. As for calling a new Rector, whether or not that priest will be full time or bivocational will be
determined solely on the amount of income available. As things now stand, it seems clear a full time
position is just a hope for some future tomorrow. Pledging is not good. Faithful in what has been pledged,
yes; but not good in general. Some parishioners give generously, even sacrificially. But some have chosen
to reduce or eliminate their pledge due to one dissatisfaction or another. As one parishioner said to me,
Tablet • All Saints Anglican Church • Attleboro, MA • 508-222-2640 • allsaintsacna.org
the e-
“we are Episcopalians; we vote with our money.” How sad, and how unfaithful to the Bride of Christ. Ask
yourself if you are giving what God would have you give, and then pray about it some more. In a very real
sense, the future of All Saints is in your hands.
Which brings me to the last point I want to make. One of my biggest failures over the past 8 years
(counting from when we became exiles for Christ’s sake) is the inability to convince the church as a whole
to become evangelists. Heck, I couldn’t even convince the majority of parishioners the parish could only
grow if they began to invite newcomers to church! Despite offering more than half-a-dozen evangelistic
approaches and programs of various flavors, our growth tended to come from those who managed to
“wander in” and were enticed to stay. Ours has been a very passive form of church growth. One bishop
compared it to building a fish tank by the ocean, hoping some fish would decide to leave the ocean and
jump into the tank instead. If you want to fill the tank, he said, then go fishing and fill it yourself! If you
are hoping the new rector will suddenly bring in dozens of new parishioners with lots of money and lots
of kids, I can only say “if God wills it.” On the other hand, I do know we have been commanded to make
Christians ourselves and that, my friends, depends heavily on the work of the congregation, not just the
priest.
Lastly, I want to tell all of you how grateful I am for those who have remained faithful to our vision of
an orthodox, Anglican church. It has been a joy and a privilege to serve alongside you in the work of
Christ. We have accomplished that goal by establishing All Saints Anglican. Now the challenge is to keep
All Saints Anglican viable for the next generation. I believe our greatest accomplishments and gifts to
the world are our children. And the greatest gift we can give our children is the Faith we hold so dearly.
We ought not measure success by counting heads or the amount of money in the plate, but rather by the
strength of our unity in Christ. I have lived my life according to this principle and I pray I have imparted
much of that to you as well.
Now I am in the enviable position of stepping aside as “Father of All Saints.” I happily transition to being
“Grampa.” As it was such a gift to raise my own children, and now to be part of their children’s lives, so it
is with me and you. I am not leaving. I am stepping into a new role. My only desire is for your welfare and
happiness. I look forward to discovering, alongside all ya’ll, what God has in store for us.
God bless!

Search Committee May 27, 2016
Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your church, and so guide the minds of All Saints
Anglican Attleboro, its Search Committee and Vestry who shall choose a new rector for our parish,
that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries.
Guide us in Your Ways, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Your Search Committee has been hard at work, meeting every week or two. Thank you so much for your prayers
while we meet and for our discernment of who the new pastor is, whom the Lord has already chosen for you.
Bishop Bill Murdoch has been extremely helpful and available to us. The Bishop will also scrutinize our completed
Parish Profile and we want to get your feedback before June 15. That is a hard deadline for your feedback then we
will move to the Rector Profile, already in the works. Remember the Parish Profile is a tool for us in our continued
search; there is no guarantee that every individual’s response will be represented in your priest or in the profile’s
final form.
We please need your continued prayers during the hours of our Search Committee meetings. Use the prayer above,
from the Book of Common Prayer or just speak from your heart to the Lord. We need prayers for discernment, wisdom, obedience, reconciliation, understanding, unity, and more.
Your faithful prayers and worship will be the best foundation we can ask for in Christ’s name, amen:
7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1
11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 12
7:00 p.m. Monday, June 13—The Vestry please requests our presence
7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 22
11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 26 (time flexible)
7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13
11:30 a.m. Sunday, July 24
After we write the Parish Profile, we form a Rector Profile which will go out to potential candidates soon. We will
interview/visit for a few rounds and then choose the best candidate(s). That is when our work ends. The final choice
for your new rector will be a Vestry and Bishop decision…and ultimately God’s as long as we have done our work
prayerfully and obediently. That is where we need your help right now…and during the meeting times listed above.

Who is Foley Beach?
10 things to know about our Archbishop
As an Anglican church, St. George’s is a part of a larger structure of churches and leaders. And as we delve together
into what it means to be a Christian and an Anglican in our upcoming ‘Learning to be a Christian‘ series it may be
helpful to know a little more about that structure and about our leadership.
So, here’s a a start at a super quick crash course: Anglican churches worldwide are grouped into
Provinces. Our Province is called the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA). Each Province has an
Archbishop (sometimes called a Primate – pronounced more like Prime-it, not like the gorilla kind of primate!) who
leads it. Our Archbishop’s name is Foley Beach. (Yes, it’s an awesome name!)
As Christians the Bible calls us to obey and support our leaders and to pray for them. So, it’s important to know
some about them.
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give
an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you. Hebrews
13:17
Here are 10 things to know about our Archbishop:
1. The Most Reverend Doctor Foley Beach was elected the Archbishop of the Anglican Church in North America on
June 22, 2014. 2. Married for more than 30 years, he and his wife, Allison, have two grown children and make their home in the
Metro-Atlanta area.
3. In 2004 he planted a church in Loganville, Georgia called Holy Cross Anglican Church. He was the rector and
pastor there until December, 2013.
4. Dr. Beach is a graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, the School of Theology at the University of
the South, and Georgia State University.
“MY MOTHER WAS A HIPPIE, BACK DURING THOSE DAYS, AND WAS EVENTUALLY ARRESTED FOR
SELLING DRUGS AND NARCOTICS”
5. He grew up in a broken home and moved around a lot. His mother was a drug addict and he spent much of his
childhood on the streets of Atlanta: “My mother was a hippie, back during those days, and was eventually arrested
for selling drugs and narcotics.”
About what his difficult childhood has afforded him: “It has given me a sensitivity to the brokenness in our families
and the need of the church, in the name of Jesus, try to minister and care for the broken people in our midst. Of
course, in the culture, that brokenness exists as well. And so, trying to have a heart for people in pain and bringing
God’s healing touch through Jesus, I think that’s a big part of how the situation in which I grew up shaped me.”
6. He received Jesus as his Lord and Saviour in a Baptist church as a kid.
“When my mother was arrested I went to live with my father who was involved in the Baptist Church in North
Atlanta. So we started going and at summer camp that year I remember sitting around the campfire and the pastor
talking about salvation and hell and I did not want to go to hell so I received Jesus. That was a very important piece
of my life, but no one ever explained that your relationship with God was supposed to grow.”

7. He was involved with Young Life youth ministries in High School.
“I CAME TO SEE THAT JESUS WANTED TO BE MY LORD, AS WELL AS MY SAVIOUR, WHICH MEANT
HE WAS TO BE IN CHARGE OF MY LIFE”
“So as I continued to grow as a teenager, academically and socially and intellectually and physically, my spiritual
life didn’t grow. A friend invited me to Young Life and through that ministry I came to see that Jesus wanted to be
my Lord, as well as my Saviour, which meant he was to be in charge of my life, and once I yielded, wow! It has been
an adventure ever since.”
8. He worked as a youth minister at the Episcopal Cathedral of Saint Philip, in Atlanta, from 1980 to 1987.
Archbishop Foley Beach
9. The scripture verse that has most guided his ministry is Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your
paths.” (ESV)
10. Archbishop Beach can be heard on radio stations in the U.S. and around the world via his teaching ministry, A
Word from the Lord, and his One-Minute Message, an evangelism outreach to the unchurched.
We think Archbishop Foley is a pretty cool guy and it’s a real privilege and blessing to have godly leadership.
Please pray for him and all our leaders, that God would be glorified through St. George’s, ACNA and his Church.

The Anglican Relief and Development Fund has received an appeal for emergency funding from the
Anglican Church of Rwanda to help families displaced by severe mudslides.
During the night of May 7th, landslides from heavy rains killed 54 people and destroyed more than
500 homes in northwestern Rwanda. Lives were lost, homes buried, trees uprooted, crops destroyed,
roads washed out. As of May 19th reports indicate that at least 6,000 families remain displaced. (Read
news coverage on the disaster from the BBC and Fox News.)
The Anglican Church in Rwanda is responding. In the Shiyra diocese alone, 367 families were
effected. Teams are distributing relief packages of blankets, cups, plates, pans, water collection
containers, mattresses or sleeping mats, dried food, and iron roofing sheets. The second wave of effort
will repair and rebuild damaged homes.
How you can help:
Pray: Will you join us in praying for families affected by this disaster; for those who have lost loved
ones, shelter, and livelihood?
Give: Would you consider making a financial donation? $150 will bring relief to one family. The total
need is estimated at $50,000. Donations may be directed to The Anglican Relief and Development
Fund and will be distributed to the Dioceses directly affected. Gifts can be given online.
