Parker Dedicates Newly Restored Synagogue
Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, Executive Vice President of the New York Board of Rabbis, helped
Parker dedicate its newly restored synagogue, on April 18, 2012. The restoration was made
possible through the generosity of Shirley Beck and family. "The Beck family members,"
noted Lenny Tanzer, Chairman of Parker's Board of Trustees, "have been generous supporters
of Parker's health care programs for more than two decades." Parker's President and CEO,
Michael N. Rosenblut, added, "The restored synagogue is not only a beautiful place for
religious services, but also a reminder that Parker, through its multi-denominational chapel
and other amenities, is a place where residents and patients can remain firmly connected
to family, friends and faith."

Parker Visits Capitol Hill
- Urging a "Measured, Thoughtful Approach"
Preventing further cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, and
protecting home- and community-based services for
seniors were among the main topics of conversation in
April and May, when Parker and other long term care
providers personally visited dozens of their respective
U.S. lawmakers in Washington, DC. Our advocacy
presentations highlighted the importance of the Medicare
and Medicaid programs, the value that not-for-profits
provide to residents and their communities, and the danger of across-the-board cuts to
access and quality of care - especially in light of the unprecedented numbers of baby
boomers entering the Medicare ranks. Parker's President and CEO, Michael N. Rosenblut,
remarked at several meetings: "As individual citizens, concerned families, and organizations
that are integral parts of the economy, we readily acknowledge the difficult federal budget
problems, but we urge Congress and the Administration to take a measured, thoughtful
approach to budget issues."
Willing Hearts, Helpful Hands Featured in The Scribe
"Willing Hearts, Helpful Hands," an innovative caregiver
assistance program, was featured in the spring 2012 edition
of The Scribe, a magazine of the Association of Jewish
Aging Services, comprised of 110 nursing homes, housing
communities and outreach programs throughout the U.S.,
Canada and Australia.
