Wolf Theiss advises owner of Wettpunkt on sale of business group
The changing face of the Austrian sports betting and gaming market: The Wettpunkt group has been
acquired by a foreign investor. WOLF THEISS advised the Wettpunkt founder and owner Hannes Bohinc
during the cross border sales process, involving, in particular, Austrian and Croatian law aspects. Both
parties agreed to keep the purchase price confidential.
Counsel Sven Hollmann, who led the transaction on the part of Wolf Theiss, explains: "This is a very exciting time
of historic upheaval for the sports betting and gaming sector due to last year's amendment to the Gambling Act in
Austria and the re-tendering of concessions. We are also seeing an undeniable trend towards online sports betting.
The current transaction involving a new owner will now add further movement to the Austrian market."
Wolf Theiss advised Hannes Bohinc, the owner of F.G.S. Inter-Corpo Holding GmbH, during the entire sales
process of his Schwechat-based subsidiary company Wettpunkt Betriebsgesellschaft, founded in 1980. The
transaction was focused on the areas of cross border corporate, IP and real estate law. "A transaction taking place
across several countries and in an environment of changing legal business foundations is a challenging project,
both for the client as well as for us. In cooperation with our offices we were able to create a suitable structure and
achieve a satisfying result," Hollmann concluded.
In addition to lead attorney Sven Hollmann, partners Christian Mikosch (Corporate), Kurt Retter (Regulatory) and
Erik Steger (Aircraft Leasing and Sales), attorneys Andreas Eder (Real Estate), Alexander Schnider (IP) and Luka

transaction.
