Lippo Village Township, established in 1993, is built on 3.000 acres of land. Students will learn to deal with complex issues, lead teams and make sound business decisions that consider the local impact of global changes to markets and business practices. Outcomes Graduates will emerge from this program with the ability to think critically about management and organisational issues, and to analyse and explain the social, political, environmental and economic contexts within which decisions are made. Graduates will be competent in working collaboratively, communicating complex ideas and applying ethical approaches to decision-making. They can expect to be employed in a range of professional, commercial, industrial and not-for-profit organisations. With appropriate experience, graduates can expect to advance to management positions. Students who successfully complete Year One of the Joint Degree will be eligible for the RMIT Diploma of Commerce and will articulate to Year Two of the Bachelor of Business (Management). Upon successful completion of all academic requirements, students will be eligible to receive a Bachelor of Business (Management) from RMIT University and Sarjana Ekonomi from Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH). RMIT Bachelor of Business programs are fully accredited Australian undergraduate university degrees. Students learn the practical application of marketing strategies and techniques, the management of a firm’s marketing resources and activities, and the integration of all major components of marketing strategy. Blending practical theory with modern, industry-based learning, this program prepares students for a career in the dynamic world of marketing. Students will develop skills across a broad range of business areas, while specialising in marketing activities such as brand and product management, market research, advertising, business development and promotion. Students will gain a thorough theoretical appreciation of the marketing discipline, as well as specific practical skills and knowledge that will be of immediate value and application. Outcomes Marketing is a dynamic and expanding area. Organisations recognise that specialist knowledge and skills are needed to successfully market their products. Marketers need to be analytical, creative, flexible, enthusiastic and disciplined when approaching practical and theoretical problems and managing the expectations of stakeholders. They also need to perform effectively as an individual and as a team member in diverse organisations and communities. A wide variety of employment opportunities are available in small, medium and large organisations in the private and public sectors. Graduates may commence a marketing career in business-to-business marketing, direct marketing, e-commerce and e-marketing, market research, marketing communication, marketing information systems, product management, retailing, sales, advertising and public relations. Today the profession is high profile, exciting and stimulating, with top accountants viewed as leaders in business and industry as well as private practice. In addition to the fundamental training in accounting, students will learn to become valued professionals able to run substantial businesses, start exciting entrepreneurial endeavours, and develop private practices that handle much more than tax returns. Students will also learn to create financial plans that lead to secure futures and to educate and advise individuals and corporations in areas that have a powerful impact on tomorrow’s business environment, such as assurance services. 16| 2014 PROSPECTUS UNIVERSITAS PELITA HARAPAN - RMIT UNIVERSITY JOINT DEGREE PROGRAM Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) and Sarjana Ekonomi - Joint Degree Program Objectives Accounting is the process of identifying, measuring, analysing and communicating economic information so that people can make informed judgements. Accountancy involves the systematic recording, reporting and analysis of financial transactions. Studying accounting gives students the tools to understand how and why key business decisions are made, and how to have input into those decisions. This program provides stimulating and rigorous studies in the core areas of business and accountancy. Students will develop capabilities to be able to apply that knowledge to operate effectively in contemporary business and multidisciplinary environments. Throughout the program, the application of accounting and business-related knowledge will be guided by ethical, environmental, cultural and social considerations. Outcomes The accountancy degree provides a business qualification that enables graduates to advance in a variety of careers. This might include positions in public accounting, auditing, taxation, management consulting, business services and receivership. Others may be recruited into commercial and government organisations in treasury, internal audit, strategic business planning, financial reporting and management accounting roles. Accountancy graduates from RMIT have consistently found employment or have enhanced their existing careers after completing their degree. Employment opportunities span a variety of roles in many different settings, including: • reporting to senior management on the resources of an organisation • monitoring the cash flow of an organisation • advising businesses on strategies for increased profit • providing financial advice • preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts and maintaining registers and records • evaluating business plans • refining financial systems • providing taxation advice • running a small business. Students must then undertake the chosen professional body’s qualification program and attain three years’ relevant practical experience to gain full membership. In addition, graduates may choose to apply for entry into the final stages of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants qualification program if they intend to live and work in countries such as China, Hong Kong, Malaysia or Singapore. The curriculum is designed to ensure that students are fully equipped for their future career. Will have mastered the field of communication from both theoretical and practical perspectives, with local, regional and global approaches. 18| 2014 PROSPECTUS UNIVERSITAS PELITA HARAPAN - RMIT UNIVERSITY JOINT DEGREE PROGRAM Bachelor of Communication (Professional Communication) and Sarjana Ilmu Komunikasi Joint Degree Program Duration: 3 years full-time Objectives This program offers a generalist communications degree incorporating courses in Journalism and Media as well as specialist study in Advertising and Public Relations. The degree integrates professional practice with theoretical frameworks. It encourages creative and critical thinking, and offers diversity in the teaching and learning approaches. Will develop a grounding in journalism, media production and public relations, and will acquire a broad range of skills to enter any number of professional communications fields. On completion of the program will be with broad knowledge of the media and communications industries. Will be able to analyse issues, communicate informed ideas, and apply independent judgement to problems within a communications context.
