Welcome to the 6th Annual Women in Leadership Symposium hosted by the California Diversity Council. This great event offers
an opportunity for you to observe, learn, network, and hear different perspectives from a diverse mix of executives who have made
the climb up the corporate ladder.
The theme for today’s symposium is “Celebrating Leadership: The Power of Women in the Workplace.” You will gather a wealth
of knowledge, experience and expertise from some of the best female executives speaking on topics pertinent to today’s woman
leaders as well as personal and professional challenges faced while successfully rising to the top in their respective organizations.
I encourage you to take the initiative to meet new colleagues, talk openly about today’s topics and exchange ideas. It is my hope
that your experience today is rewarding and allows you to gain some insight to reflect on your own goals and status in an effort
to help catapult you to the top in your own career development.

Michelle Bergquist is a nationally recognized author, award-winning entrepreneur, lively moderator and engaging,
professional speaker.
Currently, Michelle is the CEO and Co-Founder of Connected Women of Influence, the leading powerhouse
community of b2b women owners, executives and professionals who converge and engage to build high-performing
professional relationships among like-focused peers in business.
Michelle is a passionate advocate for women in business by designing platforms, programs, connections and collaborative opportunities
for professional women to lead the way in business today. In 2014, Michelle was recognized by the National Association of Women Business
Owners as the Women’s Advocate of the Year.
With a passion to ‘give back’ in business, Michelle’s philanthropic efforts have resulted in over $75,000 in contributions for local nonprofit
organizations that support women.
Michelle’s corporate background includes 13 years in commercial banking and over 20 years as an entrepreneur and business owner. Michelle
is the author of How to Build a Million Dollar Database, a business book that quickly became the go-to resource on how to build a powerful
database full of priceless connections. Michelle’s professional background includes over 20 years’ expertise in helping companies develop
winning business plans, obtain funding, increase sales and improve business performance and success.
Michelle is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Go Big Red!!) and a past board member of the National Association of Women
Business Owners, the Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce, YWCA of San Diego and the American Institute of Banking.

LYNN JOLLIFFE

Lynn Jolliffe is the executive vice president of human resources for Ingram Micro Inc. Lynn joined Ingram Micro in
1999 as the vice president of human resources for the Europe Region. In 2006, she was transferred to California as
vice president of human resources for the North American region and was promoted to her current position in 2007.
In March 2010, Lynn was awarded HR Executive of the Year by the local affiliate of the NHRA and in 2012 was
named one of California’s most powerful and influential women by the California Diversity Council.
Lynn has an MBA in finance and organizational behavior from the University of Toronto, Canada. Lynn serves on the Board of the Susan
G. Komen affiliate in Orange County and is currently President of the Board. In June 2014, she was elected to the Board of Directors
for KAR Auction Services, Inc.
MARYAM ROFOUGARAN
Senior Vice President, Engineering, Mobile & Wireless Group
Broadcom Corporation
Maryam Rofougaran is a Senior Vice President of Engineering at Broadcom Corporation. She is responsible
for development of all wireless radio products, and manages engineers across the world.
Maryam was a pioneer in the design of the first single-chip 900MHz transceiver SOC in digital CMOS.
In 1998, she and her brother Reza Rofougaran co-founded Innovent Systems, a fabless wireless semiconductor company
that developed Bluetooth technology. Innovent was acquired by Broadcom in 2000. Since the acquisition, Broadcom has
developed a new range of wireless applications such as FM, wireless LAN, GPS, NFC, cellular, Femto and microwave
backhaul. Broadcom is a market leader in wireless connectivity, and ships ~2 billion wireless radios annually which contribute
dramatically to the company’s bottom line.
Maryam has about 200 patents on wireless systems and IC design, and is co-author of more than 35 conference and journal
papers. These include the 1995 European Solid-State Circuits Conference “Best Paper Award,” the 1996 International Solid
State Circuits Conference “ISSCC Jack Kilby Award” for Outstanding Paper, and the 1997 ISSCC “Jack Raper Award” for
Outstanding Technology Direction”
Maryam received a M.S. and B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles. Maryam was born
in Esfahan, Iran.

FABIENNE SMOLINSKI

Fabienne has over 20 years of Human Resources experience in a variety of industries, for several Fortune 100
organizations and top employers in Orange County.
Fabienne is currently the Executive Vice President of People for The New Home Company, a high end luxury home
builder based in Aliso Viejo. She is responsible for all aspects of Human Resources seeing the company grow 200% in headcount, going
public and being named a Top Workplace all within a year. Prior to joining The New Home Company Fabienne was Director and acting
Vice President of Human Resources for Bausch+Lomb, Surgical. She was responsible for global human resources for the division and was on
several acquisitions and integration teams. Previous to Bausch+Lomb, Fabienne spent three years at Allergan as the HR Business Partner for
the Commercial organization and Pacific Communications advertising agency. Fabienne enjoyed a 15 year tenure with Fluor Corporation
rotating through a variety of core HR disciplines including Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, International HR, and Compensation.
Fabienne began her HR career as an HR Coordinator with TRW, Systems Space Division in El Segundo.
Fabienne has a Master’s in Business Administrations with a concentration in Human Resources and an undergraduate BS, Business
Administration. She is a Certified Compensation Professional through World at Work and is DDi Certified.
Fabienne lives in Aliso Viejo with her partner Bob. She has a daughter who plays soccer for a UC Davis while pursuing her Bachelors in
Animal science and ultimately a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She also has a step daughter who is pursuing her Bachelors in Business
through Brandman University while working full time as a recruiter.
Fabienne enjoys spending time with her family, watching her daughter play soccer, going to the movies and riding her quad at the beach.
Fabienne’s motto is “to always look for opportunities to do things better than you did before and leave a legacy through creativity, honesty
and hard work.”
KAREN MOON

Hyundai Capital America
Karen Moon is Vice President of Servicing at Hyundai Capital America (HCA), a top-10 U.S. auto finance company
supporting the financial services needs of Hyundai Motor America and Kia Motors America. In this role, Karen
oversees the customer service operations functions and is responsible for driving customer satisfaction. Prior to this
position, Karen served as the VP, Corporate Services leading the department and building the structure (All Human
Resources functions, Corporate Culture, Facilities & Administration) to support HCA’s explosive growth from 500 to
2000 employees. Before joining HCA in 2009, Karen worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company working on projects
in several Asia-Pacific countries as well as in the US. She received her undergraduate degree from Pomona College and an MBA from
INSEAD in France.

Deborah Rodriguez is the Senior Vice President of Talent for ALPHAEON Corporation, a lifestyle healthcare
business based in Irvine, CA. In this role, she works closely with her executive leadership team to develop and
implement strategies for the business that attract, retain and develop great talent for a unique corporate culture
whose core values include freedom and courage.
Prior to joining ALPHAEON, Deborah held a number of leadership positions in both Fortune 100 and mid-sized public and/or global
companies including Johnson & Johnson, GE Capital, Alliance HealthCare Services, and Allergan. In each of these organizations, she
joined the business or division at a critical point of acquisition, start up, high growth, turnaround, or other significant transformation.
She holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources Development, is Six-Sigma trained as an Executive Black Belt and is a certified executive
leadership coach. Her practical application of organizational development and Six Sigma principles across multiple industries and her ability
to develop a human resources team that can influence and effectively diagnose (and resolve) issues are keys to helping drive positive change
in an organization.
Deborah has guided her current and last organization in the formation and ongoing leadership of Lean In Circles. She is a Partner
and Grant Committee Chair for Impact Giving, a women’s collective giving organization whose purpose is to make an IMPACT both
locally and globally by supporting positive sustainable social change where most needed. Additionally, Deborah volunteers her time
for a number of local non-profit organizations providing leadership and communication training and development.
