Ministry of Foreign Affairs pays tribute to Mr. Augusto C. Coello
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International pays tribute to Mr. Augusto C. Coello and Carlos Hartling – authors of the National Anthem In the centenary of the Official Declaration of the National Anthem of Honduras, written by Augusto C. Coello and musically composed by Carlos Hartling, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation paid homage in the presence of their descendants. The ceremony began with with a wreath-laying act at the monument of Mr. Augusto C. Coello, placed on the gardens of the Academy of Diplomacy, by Vice-chancellor María del Carmen Nasser de Ramos, in the company of Antonio José Coello and Carlos Fortín Lardizábal, descendants of Mr. Augusto C. Coello and Carlos Hartling, respectively. The Musical Ministry “Amor y Fe” was in charge of the singing of the national anthemn, while an allusive speech to the ceremony was delivered by vicechancellor Nasser de Ramos, who expressed that “now is the most opportune time to thank Mr. Augusto C. Coello and Ambassador Jorge A. Coello’s family for their donation of a valuable book collection that is now part of the Academy of Diplomacy’s Library”, at the same time she emphasized that “to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation this memorial ceremony responds to Hondurans’patriotic sense of respect for the birth history of our nation, national identity, and ancient culture.” By Decree No. 42 of 13 November 1915, President Alberto Membreño officialized the National Anthemn, published in the “La Gazeta” Official Newspaper. For their part, Mr Nahún Valladares and Attorney Jubal Valerio talked about the history and the music of our National Anthemn, accordingly. Descendants from the honorees, Accredited Diplomatic Corps, and civil servants from the Ministry of Affairs attended the ceremony. Strategic Communication General Direction Tegucigalpa, M.D.C.
