Psalm 104:27-30 These all wait for you, that you may give them their food in due season, what you give them they gather in; you open your hand they are filled with good. You hide your face, they are troubled; you take away their breath, they die and return to their dust. You send forth your Spirit, they are created; and you renew the face of the earth. Treatments will be held at St. Linus Church, Room 10 from 12 PM- 4 PM on June 28th & July 25th. Acupuncture is successful in treating all pain conditions (knee, low back, shoulder, neck); fibromyalgia; insomnia; neuropathy; women’s health; stress; general wellness; and much much more! Frequently Asked Questions What is acupuncture? It is an ancient medicine, dating back 4000 years, to use the body’s energy or “qi” to restore health. Sterile, single use needles are placed into specific locations on the body or scalp depending on the condition to manipulate the body’s energy. Does acupuncture hurt and are there side effects? Typically it does not cause pain but occasionally there is a slight pricking sensation upon initial insertion. There are no side effects of acupuncture but infrequently there is slight bruising or swelling. Most patient feel very relaxed and energized after treatments. If you are uncomfortable at any point during the treatment you should advise your practitioner. In the West, our story is more complicated by constant change and variation. As the world’s structures tottered in the ninth century, bishops and priests stepped into the void left by collapsing civil structures. For the first time, marriage was referred to as a sacrament, and wedding ceremonies were to be in public (assuring the free consent of the bride) after an investigation of the couple by a priest. The custom of the blessing of the bridal room diminished, and was finally forbidden in 1012 by the Council of Rouen, although it continued for centuries. In the diocese of Perigueux in France, a ritual from 1827 had the parish priest clad in surplice and stole sprinkling the bridal couple as they stood modestly in their pajamas by the wedding bed. Next the bed and all those present were sprinkled, too! That’s a tradition that few Americans, either the betrothed or the clergy, are ready to revive! —Rev. James Field, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co. God’s Word Today In today’s Gospel, Jesus is presented to us as the master storyteller. He loved to use parables as a tool for comparing one thing to something else. In most of his parables, Jesus revealed who God is by comparing God’s essence or actions with something familiar to his listeners. In the parable of the mustard seed, Jesus proclaims a marvelous and irrefutable truth. His small band of disciples, as insignificant as they may have felt, would one day produce a mighty kingdom whose growth was initiated by God. The seeds of this kingdom were planted by God and it is God who will harvest the fruit brought forth from those seeds. The extent of the growth of God’s kingdom cannot be predicted. We must trust the work of the Master’s hand as we, the mustard plant, grow and grow. From Saint Margaret Sunday Missal, copyright © J. S. Paluch Company THE CHURCH AND THE SPIRIT Where the Church is, there is the Spirit of God; and where the Spirit of God is, there is the Church and all grace, and the Spirit is truth. Traducido de Saint Margaret Sunday Missal derechos de autor © J. S. You can help children prepare for natural disasters When parents and caregivers or other family members deal with crisis situations calmly and confidently, children feel more confident and secure. A child’s reactions are influenced by the behavior they see. The better prepared you are, the more reassuring you may be during an emergency. To help prepare your family, develop a disaster plan and assemble a supply kit. For more information and emergency preparedness tips, visit bepreparedcalifornia.ca.gov. ¿SABIA USTED? Ismael was born in Zacatecas, Mexico, and attended Westchester High School, UCLA and Cal State Dominguez Hills. He graduated from St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo and was ordained in June 2013 at the Cathedral of Angels. His inspiration to enter the priesthood is to be a conduit of God’s peace and love by being a healer and a prophetic voice of the Lord’s unconditional love and goodness to His people. While attending a retreat in a rather young age, he had a meaningful encounter and experienced the reality of God’s love and caused him to want to change his way of life. He entered the priesthood with much hesitation but with God’s grace, his priestly ministry is now encouraging others to grow in holiness and develop a close relationship with the Lord. Fr. Ismael is an Associate Pastor as St. Pius X Church in Santa Fe Springs, CA. He conducts monthly healing masses at St. Pius X Church and is a speaker at the annual SCRC Charismatic Convention. Come and receive the risen Lord’s healing touch. Interested in becoming a U.S. citizen? Now’s the time Catholic Charities will be at Casa Santa Fe (A Ministry of the Holy Faith Sisters) 4270 Acacia Ave in Pico Rivera on Friday, June 26, 2015.
