We are currently working with Chamber Master to make those upgrades and the change should be completed in the next three months. We will keep you posted when the new website goes live. The Chamber board will meet on Thursday, September 8th for the monthly board meeting beginning at noon at Diamond Mountain Casino in the Hotel Conference Room. The board encourages member attendance and comment. Susan Christensen, of Christensen Insurance, who served as the chairperson for the first few years and came up with the idea to hold the first event, will be returning as the event chair. Plans underway include making the celebration a two day event, bringing back the “slow drags” and adding an to co-host the all-American soap box derby car race for the kids. Chamber Mixer September 8th, 2016 5:30 to 7:30 pm 644-400 Church Street ¡ Janesville Artisan Coffee, located at 644-400 Church Street in Janesville (corner of Hwy 395 and Church Street), will again team up with Pizza Factory & Steve’s Pumps to co-host the Thursday, September 8th Chamber Mixer. Come join in a fun evening as they celebrate Janesville area businesses. The evening mixer will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm and will include a delicious food, live music, and a variety of local artists’ works will be on display. Everyone is welcomed. Shop Local. in Lassen County log on to www.lassen countychamber.org and click on event calendar. 2016 Midyear Employment Labor Law Poster Update. The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) announced two mandatory poster changes. Beginning August 1, 2016, employers must post updated versions of the Federal Minimum Wage and the Federal Employee Polygraph Protection Act. Members who purchased a 2016 Labor Law poster from the Chamber should have received these updates, via mail, to be posted with your 2016 Labor Law Poster to be compliant with these changes. Also included in the mailing was the 2016 Midyear Employment Law Update. The Chamber office will be closed Labor Day, Monday, September 5th. Your Chamber membership is tax deductible as a ‘necessary business expense’. To check on today’s headlines issues relating to business in California, from the economy, to public affairs, politics, and pending legislation, log on to www.calchamber.com. Be sure that the Chamber’s visitor lobby has an adequate supply of your business cards and brochures on hand to promote your business throughout the year. This is a free marketing service that is available to all Chamber members. Lassen County Maps- free area map are available at the chamber office. If you would like to have area maps to distribute to your customers, stop by the chamber office and we will be happy to give some to you. This is a free member benefit available to all chamber members while supplies last. September will mark the final month of 2016 Farmer’s Market season. The market is held each Saturday, thru the month of September, beginning at 8am, in Historic Uptown Susanville Pancera Plaza. Call LLTT at 257-3252 if you would like to participate or for more information. Please remember to get those event dates to us! If your business or organization has a special event planned please let us know so that we can add the event information to the calendar. This is a free service provided to the entire community. Your Chamber membership is tax deductible as a ‘necessary business expense’. Historic Uptown Susanville Association is raising funds to make improvements and repairs to the Pancera Plaza. The “Buy a Brick” program will help fund some of the improvements that are planned including adding lighting, electrical and water sources throughout the Plaza. The custom bricks will be placed in the Plaza to complete the project that was started in the 1990’s. A 4”x 8” brick can still be purchased to commemorate a loved one, special event, business or club. Become a part of Historic Uptown Susanville by purchasing a brick. Applications to purchase a brick can be downloaded from the chamber website, lassencountychamber.org or for more information contact David at 257-2392. A copy of the application to purchase a brick is also included in this newsletter. Thanks to One Stop Office for hosting an outstanding August Chamber Mixer!
