The diving is famous for its diversity and divers return time and time again to marvel at creatures large and small. There are dives for all levels, from easy training dives amongst pristine coral to high-voltage drift dives. Diving in Puerto Galera is a year-round activity to be enjoyed by all. Be aware that all the dive sites are replete with huge numbers of splendid fish, invertebrates, sponges, crinoids, anemones, hard and soft corals, cuttlefish, rays and from time to time sharks even make an appearance. This coastal town is well known among tourists for its numerous pocket beaches and many snorkeling and diving spots. Among the famous beaches in Puerto Galera are Sabang Beach and White Beach, which have an active nightlife with numerous bars and restaurants. OCEAN VIDA RESORT MALAPASCUA Malapascua Island by the locals called Logon is situated in the northern tip of Cebu Island. It forms part of the municipality of Daanbantayan about 128 kilometers from Cebu City. Beside white palm-lined beaches, one of the main factors in the popularity of the island is its dive site Monad Shoal. The regular sightings of thresher sharks, a unique species of sharks known for its long dorsal tail and docility made this spot to a unique dive site in the whole world. For divers the thresher sharks encounters are a rare and once-in-a lifetime experience. Ocean Vida Beach and Dive Resort, centrally located at the beach front at Bounty Beach offers 20 spacious rooms. Cabilao is a triangular shaped 7.2 square kilometer island is situated at the west side of Bohol, facing Cebu Island. Cabilao consists of five barangays (villages), Talisay, Cambaquiz, Looc, Pantudlan, and Cabacongan. Its about 5200 friendly inhabitants survive on fishing, tourism, some small agriculture and weaving of bags. The island is the home to Bohol’s only natural lake, Lake Lanao, near the barangay Pantudlan, which also serves as a small bird-sanctuary for passing by migrant birds The perfect place to slow things down combined with world class diving. Pygmy seahorses, critters as well as hard and soft corals of various species have made that island a must-see, especially for scuba divers. At present, there are two marine protected areas (no-take zones) around the island. The only motorized transport you can find are a few tricycles and a couple of motorcycles. The lack of roads also means that everything on the island has to be brought in by banka (local outrigger boat): building materials, wood, food (except fish caught locally), and, during periods of drought, fresh water for drinking and bathing. PURA VIDA RESORT CABILAO Pura Vida Cabilao is located in the Barangay Cambaquiz, on the northeastern tip of Cabilao Island. Pura Vida Cabilao opened in 2004 and is under Filipino/German management. The resort has 27 rooms, all of them are equipped with air-condition, hot shower and a terrace. There are 4 different levels of rooms, 1 Suite Room, Deluxe Rooms, Standard air con rooms and Economy rooms. Beside the restaurant which is built on top of the cliff you will also find the bar with an amazing view over the Bohol Sea. For your full relaxation the resort also offers a small massage center. Bohol is home to the famous Alona Beach. On the south-west tip of Panglao Island, is a one and a half kilometer long stretch of coral white sandy beach where resorts and dive centers, restaurants and souvenir shops alternate. It is the most developing beach in Bohol and now one of the top tourist destinations in the Philippines. Panglao Island is directly connected with the main island Bohol with its famous majestic Chocolate Hills and the cute bug-eyed tarsiers. To complete the picture of Bohol we have to add the jungle interior, an adventure sport paradise, rice terraces and the different beaches. ALONA VIDA RESORT BOHOL Alona Vida Beach Resort is located in the middle of the vivid Alona Beach. It is connected with the popular Coco Vida Bar and Restaurant. This UNESCO World Heritage Site lies off the coast of Palawan Island, in the Sulu Sulu Sea. Tubbataha is a big fish lover’s paradise. White tip, Grey reef, silver tip, leopard whale and hammerhead sharks species are amongst the most commonly sighted, with the occasional guitar, tiger or bull shark putting in an appearance. Expect to see huge schools of trevally, barracuda and snapper as well as many turtles and rays. Tubbataha is one of the most popular seasons running from mid March through to early June – explore kilometers pristine drop offs and see just about anything. Dumaguete is the base for the summer months of June through to December and the Visayas Safari is a unique opportunity to take in several beautiful islands in one week – something that would take several weeks, or several vacations to do any other way.
