Everyone must be there by 4:45PM
Annual dues are payable on or before the 1st day of May each year. Dues
become delinquent on the 1st day of June if unpaid. Membership lapses and
is automatically terminated if dues are not paid by the 1st day of July. No
member may vote at the annual meeting (which will be held on Wednesday,
June 8, 2016) if their dues have not been paid.
If a member can’t be at a meeting, they can mail their dues to Aida Echemendia at 50 Sterling Pointe Drive, St. Charles, MO 63301.

Tempo was my special girl. She showed in obedience and agility for eight years, obtaining five Master
Agility Championships, a Preferred Master Agility Championship and three each Utility Dog Excellent and
Obedience Master titles. She loved to train, was very quick to learn and wanted so much to please. Her favorite place was on the couch by mom. Thanks to Sonny Lelle for this wonderful dog. She was a joy to live
with and to show and we miss her terribly.

A Note From Our President
Congratulations Team. We did it again. The Gateway Miniature Schnauzer Club put on a spectacular Specialty
and Obedience Trial in the beautiful Purina Performance Center on April 1st. It was through the hard work of our
members that this was achieved. And, the icing on the cake is that we made over $2,000 hosting the specialty.
There were a total of 149 dogs entered. Friday’s entries were 164, this includes second entries.
At this time, I would like to give special recognition to those that spent their time making it all come together.
First, our trophy chairman. Teresa Handlen organized all the awards in addition to hand making Schnauzer pillows used for some awards. The awards were laid out beautifully on tables next to both rings. A schnauzer quilt
made by Teresa was used to cover the awards table by the conformation ring. Simply gorgeous.
Carol Carter ordered the rosettes for both conformation and obedience. This was so time consuming getting the
right ribbon with the different events and classes. Many exhibitors commented about how nice our awards
were. One exhibitor told me that they appreciated receiving something even though they didn’t get the top
prize.
Brian Bogart, Sweepstakes Judge and Margo Klingler, Breed Judge were assisted by Marilyn Cooper and Ken
McKinney in the conformation ring. Ken and Marilyn kept everything flowing smoothly, getting the dogs lined up
in order and in the correct class. Joanne Toft assisted with the distribution of awards for conformation. This was
a long day for all.
Virginia Kinion, Obedience and Rally Judge, was assisted by Carol Carter, Chris Burgess, Ron Scalise, Brad Riley
and two members of the North County Obedience and Training Club, Karen Fuss and Kathy Schreck. When the
day began, we were notified that our table steward, Karen Fuss, was not able to come to the show. In the end,
Karen was late and couldn’t stay all day. But, at that moment, we needed to get the obedience trial started on
time and running smoothly. Carol Carter stepped in and took charge of the table while Nancy Lincoln answered
questions from the ring stewards who were getting the ring readied. A total team effort.
At the Obedience ring Carol Carter was multi-tasking between table stewarding and distributing the awards.
Upon Karen’s arrival, Carol made sure table steward responsibilities were seamlessly transferred to her. And,
when Karen had to leave, Carol took over table stewarding for the rally ring. Many thanks to Karen for helping
us and for organizing the rally signs. And, for Carol making things run so smoothly.
Judge Kinion was assisted by Chris Burgess and Ron Scalise in the obedience ring. They made sure the ring was
readied for each exhibitor and the event ran smoothly. In addition, they helped Carol distribute awards. This
was Ron’s first experience as ring steward. By the end of Obedience, Ron will be ready for next year. Right Ron?
Rally followed obedience with Kathy Schreck and Brad Riley assisting Judge Kinion. It didn’t take Brad long to
catch on because I heard the Judge say “let me talk to someone who knows what’s going on”, referring to Brad.
Thanks to Kathy Schreck and Brad for making the rally ring run smoothly.
The time and effort Ron Scalise put into the Judges’ gift bags was much appreciated.
Our Silent auction and Raffle was simply fabulous. Organized by Aida Echemendia it was a huge success. Cindy
Lynch made the signs for each of the auction items, very artistic. Along with Aida, Mike and Char Narkawicz
stayed at the table all day, selling raffle tickets and keeping the cookie tray supplied.
The baskets were huge. Someone asked me if we had solicited donations and I proudly told her they were from
our club members and three generous people who love schnauzers and small breed clubs who struggle with putting on high caliber shows. Aida will be listing club members in the Tailwagger who contributed to the silent
auction and raffle. But, I want to take a moment to thank Carol Oesch, a former GMSC member and two exhibitors, Pam Casey and Sharon Bloss for donating items. What a nice gesture.
Thanks for all those who brought cookies, we didn’t run out even though we had a lot of visitors stop by for a
snack. The group behind the silent auction and raffle table were real salespersons. A lot of tickets were sold and
our club reaped the benefits. Thanks Linda Casey, Brad Riley, Ron Scalise, Carol Smail, and Fiona Machens.
I don’t want to forget our own Mini Schnauzers who entered the Palooza. Making one of his final appearances before retiring, Duke competed with Carol Ann Smail in the Optional Titling Graduate Open class. In
