W
hen Fred and Suzi Dolt decided
to celebrate 21 years of marriage,
they chose their newly-acquired
CedarCrest Farm in Crestwood –
with its stately pre-Civil War home, tree-shaded
lawn, rolling fields and pastures – as the perfect
place for the celebration. Months of planning
for both the renewal of vows and redecorating
the house, culminated with an Aug. 2 event.
As guests arrived, they were greeted with
cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres for a preceremony soiree. Tables were draped in raspberry linens and white umbrellas dotted the green
turf, setting the scene for a cool respite from the
summer heat.
Ladies fanned themselves with paper fans,
gentlemen admired Fred’s vintage car collection and a strolling magician amused the younger set.
The ceremony took place on the front lawn
and was officiated by Judge Duane Murner,
from whom the Dolts purchased the house.
Corey Dolt escorted his mother down the aisle
and daughter Caroline was the flower girl. The
Dolts’ maid of honor and best man repeated
their roles as witnesses.
After the ceremony, guests retreated to the
tent for a sumptuous, Southern comfort buffet that included beef tenderloin, fried chicken, country ham and biscuits, bibb lettuce salad
with grilled corn and roasted red peppers, macaroni and cheese and Southern-style green beans.
An added feature was a whole roasted pig complete with an apple in its mouth. The bride’s
cake was red velvet, and the groom’s apple cake
was made from a family recipe.
Tables were adorned with white and apple
green bengaline linens, white china with black
and silver edging, and florals of white callas,
ivory hydrangea, bells of Ireland, pink roses,
willow, lemons, limes and apples.
The ceiling of the tent was draped with
grape vines and candle globes hung from the
vines like stars in the sky as the sun set. Dancing followed the toasts.
Fred and Suzi looked radiantly happy as
they celebrated their love with friends and family for a second time. Congrats! Here’s to 21
years many times over.
