Henny-Penny
One beautiful summer day Henny-Penny
was cleaning up her yard, minding her own
business when an acorn fell and hit her on the
head.
Henny-Penny
“Ouch,” she cried looking up. “The sky is
falling, the sky is falling. I must go and tell the
mayor.”
Henny-Penny
Very upset and very much in a hurry she
left her yard and went off down the road.
Henny-Penny
Down the road Henny-Penny met CockyLocky, who asked why she was in such a hurry.
“I am going to tell the mayor that the sky is falling,” she explained.
Henny-Penny
“Oh my,” said Cocky-Locky. “Can I go
along with you?”
Henny-Penny
“Of course,” said Henny-Penny, and off
they hurried to meet the mayor.
Henny-Penny
A little farther down the road Henny-Penny
and Cocky-Locky met Ducky-Doodle, who asked
where they were going.
Henny-Penny
“We are going to tell the mayor that the
sky is falling,” they said.
Henny-Penny
“Oh my,” said Duckey-Doodle. “May I go
with you?”
“Of course,” said the two, and off they hurried to meet the mayor.
Henny-Penny
Even farther down the road Henny-Penny,
Cocky-Locky, and Duckey Doodle met GooseyPoosey, who asked where they were going.

“We are going to tell the mayor that the
sky is falling,” they said out of breath.
Henny-Penny
11
“Oh my,” said Goosey-Poosey. May I go
with you?”
“Of course,” said the three, and off they
hurried to meet the mayor.
Henny-Penny
12
Even farther down the road Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Duckey Doodle and GooseyPoosey met Foxy-Woxy, who asked where they
were going.
Henny-Penny
13
“We are going to tell the mayor that the
sky is falling,” they said out of breath.
Henny-Penny
14
“Oh my,” said Foxy-Woxy. May I go with
you?”
“Of course,” said the four, and off they hurried to meet the mayor.
Henny-Penny
15
“But wait,” said Foxy-Woxy. “This is the
long way to the mayor’s office. I will show you
a shortcut,” he said with a grin on his face.
Henny-Penny
16
Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Duckey Doodle
and Goosey-Poosey followed Foxy-Woxy to the
edge of the forest where there was a hole in the
ground.
Henny-Penny
17
They did not realise that this was the hole
to Foxy-Woxy’s burrow. They also did not know
that Foxy-Woxy had not had his lunch!
Henny-Penny
18
“I will go in before you and show you the
way,” said Foxy-Woxy as he went in the burrow.
He did not go very deep in to the hole before
he turned around to wait for his lunch.
Henny-Penny
19
Goosey-Poosey was the first to go in.
Goosey-Poosey became the first bite of FoxyWoxy’s lunch.
Henny-Penny
20
Duckey-Doodle was the second to go in,
and became the second bite of Foxy-Woxy’s
lunch.
Henny-Penny
21
Cocky Locky was the third to go in. Luckily
for Henny-Penny Cocky-Locky did not do anything without a cock-a-doodle-doo! And cock-adoodle-doo he did!
Henny-Penny
22
When Henny-Penny heard Cocky Locky
cock-a-doodle-doo she had forgotten what she
was doing and said: “It must be morning.” “It’s
time for me to lay my egg.”
Henny-Penny
23
Henny-Penny turned and hurried down the
road to go back to her yard, and forgot that the
sky was falling.
