We were all on to something. Those
moments, relegated to the backseat by age,
when we held our hand out of the window
and just let it drift and ride on the wind.
We knew then that life on the other side of
the window is where it’s at, that to be in it
is always going to beat watching the stuff
of life pass us by. As urban cyclists, we still
know it.
Brooklyn Cruiser is our bid to get everyone
out there, in it. And so, starting from a price
point of unmatched and uncompromising
accessibility, we set out to design the best possible bicycles we could. We
did it by not seeing ourselves as a Bike Company, but rather as Lifestyle
Solutionists.
Why do we ride? What do we need to do it right? How do we want to look
and feel, and what do we want to experience when we do? These are the
questions that led to chain guards and fenders so we can show up to work
clean and dry, less the splatter of the street. A double kickstand and rear
rack to make zipping from cafe to gym to happy hour to home again a fully
bike-able plight. And because who doesn’t go in for creature comforts, luxe
leather saddles and grips became a must. As did our unique markers of
distinction, like our double top tube and beloved cream tires.
We wanted (daresay demanded) all of this. With no upsells, not ever. And
we are proud to say that, today, that’s Brooklyn Cruiser.
The idea was to make bikes that fit into your life, not bikes that you need to
fit your life around. The idea was to get out there and stay out there as long
as we want, drifting and riding on the wind. We think about cycling a little
differently. For us, riding means commuting, socializing, getting things done
and, sometimes, just being seen. For those reasons, we’d like you to meet
our Bedford, Willow, and Driggs. Each vintage inspired, each built for today.

We aren’t kidding when we say our bikes get noticed. But don’t just take our word
for it. Consider some As-Seen-In while you decide if you’d like to be As-Seen-On.
Here’s a look at just some of the blush-worthy attention our bikes have received:
Strength In Millimeters
Design, Architecture, Geometry. Believe it -- these concepts are behind our
bikes. But when you hear “the geometry of a bike frame,” chances are you stop
computing beyond the visual treat that are its curves, lines, and angles. That’s
okay. We sweat the small stuff so you don’t have to. And you can’t get much
smaller than the almighty millimeter.
Millimeters matter. You feel them in your effortless posture, in your natural arm
and leg reach, in the ease of your stance at a standstill. All marks of a custom
frame, built with your body in mind. Translation by example: Our signature tires
sure look chic, but it’s a mere hairline measurement that keeps them narrow
enough for speed and wide enough for shock absorption. That’s a millimeter, and
that’s why we design and construct right down to them.
Strength In Production
Quality, Integrity, Longevity. Those are the tenants behind our steel construction.
Sound daunting? 30lbs of Dutch style, less the heft is anything but. And this
attention to balancing looks and lifespan goes right down to unsung heroics, like
sealed bearings in our bottom brackets (rust not, replace not!)
We let the experts confirm before releasing each new model, sending one out
for a punishing Q/A process first. No tires to asphalt without extensive third
party testing and a stamp of approval. Assembly requirements, braking and
safety features, and the structural integrity of every last Brooklyn Cruiser is
paramount.
Strength In Numbers
Expertise, Advisement, Collaboration. All urban cyclists have one thing in
common -- they ride. So it goes without saying that we’re always listening, and
always finding ways to incorporate what we hear into our next design. We
keep an open dialogue with our ridership, our friends and neighbors, and select
industry leaders on the topics of our bikes, bikes in general, and the cyclist
lifestyle we all share.
We’re honored to collaborate with a distinguished team led by historically
invested and published contributors to the commuter, urban and city biking
communities. Their current consultancy with our design and manufacturing
processes allow us to offer a unique ride to everyone who wants the experience.
