The Vette Sette
Adam’s little red corvette
Just a few of about 150 people who gathered at Day's Chevrolet for the reveal. GOTCHA’ is a great word to describe his reaction.
Here are two links to online
stories about CGCC’s
restoration of Adam Troxel’s
corvette that pretty well
sum it up.

President’s Message
It is a new year! I like the sound
of the word “new”. It conjures
up all kinds of emotions and
visions. Like the feel and smell
of a new car. You know what I
am talking about. The way you
are sitting at a stop light and
Greg Brooks
have to look at the tach just to make sure
the engine is still running because it is soooo
smooth. Or better yet, how about a new baby.
Your mind marvels at this miracle of new life
laying there before you. Sleeping so still in the
crib you have to reach down and lay a hand on
them just to make sure they are still breathing.
I like the sound of a new year as well. It gives
us the opportunity for new adventures. It
allows us to make new promises, put
misadventures behind us and put time
between past sorrows that lets us move
forward.
That being said, we as a club have the
opportunity to meet new people, go to new
places, help new people, and volunteer at new
events. Sign up for the Valentines Cruise,
volunteered for SuperVette, tell Rick Engle you
would like to be an event leader, sit at a table
with someone new at club meetings, and …..
well you get my meaning. You will never know
how much fun you can have if you don’t get
out of your comfort zone. As many of you
have heard me say before, Rita and I have met
our very best friends through Classic Glass
Corvette Club. Some have moved away but we
still remain close because of the friendship
created by CGCC. It wasn’t done by just
attending meetings. We went to many events
and sat and talked with lots of people.
Carl Etter has a good start for SuperVette
Saturday but he still needs a lot of help. We
will be needing items for the silent auction and
giveaways. We will need people to help set up
and take down the tables and chairs, as well as
all the other tasks it takes to put on our show.
Carl will let us know when and where he needs
help but it is up to us to volunteer.
Rick may not be able to make each and every
event so he will be needing help leading some
cruises. Step up and volunteer to be an event
manager.
Ok, time for me to step down from my soap
box. Let’s just go out there and have some fun
this year, some new fun and a little old fun as
well.
Hope to see y’all at the Cavalry Children’s
home outing and the Valentine’s Day cruise as
well. The “Not So Newlywed” game should be
as exciting as always.
Remember, it is the cars that brought us
together but it is the people that keep us
coming back.
Greg
"PS We recognize the next meeting is on
Valentine’s Day. We will try and make it a
special day for everyone. Hope to see you
there."

Minutes of the January 10, 2012 CGCC meeting
The meeting was called to order at 7:30
p.m. by President Greg Brooks. Greg
welcomed everyone to the first meeting of
the New Year and introduced this year’s
Board of Directors: Steve Waddell, Keelie
Sparks, Frank Macaluso and Larry Yon.
Greg then introduced the Officers: Chris
Reed, Vice President of Membership; Rick
Engle, Vice President of Activities; Tonie
Etter, Vice President at Large; Lilas Pratt,
Treasurer; and Mana Swope, Secretary.
Greg stated that both Chaz Cone,
Webmaster, and Calvin Cruce, Newsletter
Editor, have agreed to stay on for another
year, and that Jim Johannes will be taking
over the club store. Greg announced that
Carl Etter will be the SuperVette Czar
again this year.
Audit: Greg stated his wife, Rita, will be
performing the bookkeeping audit again
this year (Rita has done the audit for the
past two years). He had previously asked
the Board if there were any conflicts, but
there were no objections from the Board.
There were none from the membership as
well.
Restoration Project: The Troxel
restoration project reveal was Saturday,
January 7, at Day’s Chevrolet. There were
approximately 150 people in attendance,
including a photographer from the Marietta
Daily Journal. On behalf of Day’s
Chevrolet, Jennifer Still made a
presentation of $500 to Adam Troxel.
Tonie Etter introduced two special guests:
Scott and Jackie Blalock, owners of
Collision Pro & Restoration. Collision Pro
performed the bodywork and the paint job
on Adam’s car. After thanking Classic
Glass, Scott stated his shop does collision
and restoration repairs, and provided a
brief description the work they do. He
answered several questions from CGCC
members and then mentioned that he
Classic Glass Corvette Club
provides a lifetime warranty on paint jobs.
Scott offered the use of his shop to the
Club for demonstrations, meetings, etc.
Randy Kicklighter acknowledged the
dedication and hard work of all who helped
with the restoration project.
Expectations: Greg has two expectations
for the club this year. The first is to Get
Involved. Greg provided the following
examples: volunteering to be an event
coordinator and helping with SuperVette
Saturday. He also asked that active
members get in touch with those that
haven’t been to a recent meeting or
participated in recent events.
The second expectation is with the Budget.
If you have a project you’d like the club to
sponsor or to be involved with, send an
email to any of the Board members with
the information.
Greg then gave the members a group hug
because he hadn’t yet received a single
derogatory email!
Minutes: There were no minutes to
present because the last meeting was the
Holiday Party.
Treasurer’s Report: Lilas Pratt presented
the report. She noted there is an addition
error which will be corrected in next
month’s report. Doug Reed made a motion
to accept the report, Wayne Ray seconded
the motion, and it passed unanimously.
Membership: Chris Reed advised that
raffle tickets will be used for the
membership drawing instead of the sign-in
sheet in order to preserve the list of
attendees. Chris also advised that
membership dues are due.

(possibly at the Station House Restaurant),
Greg will be hosting the “Not So Newlywed

breakfast buffet, then a trip to the
Tennessee Aquarium. Rick is looking into
a boat cruise for the afternoon.
Reservations for the hotel are to be made
by the club members. Those wanting to
go up Friday night will be given the code to
receive the reduced room rate.
Rick’s goal is to have one club activity
each month. He asked for assistance from
the club in chairing events, and he also
asked that members sign up for the events
they wish to participate in on the website.

SuperVette Saturday: The event will be
held on May 5. Carl Etter will ask Chaz to
put the sign-up sheets on the website. He
warned that if you don’t sign up, you will
get a phone call. Ads have already been
made up and mailed out.
Scott Oliver asked that each member
solicit donations from businesses for door
prizes/silent auction – no donation is too
small. He advised that we need to start
now.
Jennifer Still announced that Day’s
Chevrolet is donating $1,500 for
SuperVette Saturday, which prompted
cheers and applause from the members.
NCM Ambassador: Charlie Koninsky
stated that tonight was the last chance for
the $10 NCM raffle tickets. The raffle is to
be held on February 2.
Charlie mentioned that the NCM events
noted in black on the Events calendar are
club-supported. He then discussed the
upcoming club-supported events:
Volunteer work weekend – June 2; C5/C6
Bash – in April; 18th Anniversary – Labor
Day weekend; Vets ‘n Vettes – October
31-November 3. For a list of all NCM
events, he directed members to the NCM
website: corvettemuseum.org.
Charlie advised the Baymont has been
bought out and will become a Holiday Inn
Express. After April, the CGCC rate will
increase to $74 (currently $69). He is
working on blocking rooms for the clubsponsored events.
Club Store: Jim Johannes is holding a
“liquidation sale” of some of the older
merchandise, which includes pins and
2011 SuperVette shirts. He also has
CGCC windshield clings for $10. Jim is

Webmaster: Chaz Cone reminded
everyone to submit a picture of their
Corvette for the Members Garage.
VP at Large: There was one new
Corvette in response to Tonie Etter’s
question about new cars - Evert Hekman
announced he recently purchased a 2011
silver coupe from Day’s Chevrolet.
Tonie requested that members help in
finding guest speakers to share
information with the club. She advised that
the information does not necessarily have
to be about cars, but could be something
of interest to all.
There was $204 in the 50/25/25 drawing.
Both Glenn Brooks and Nancy Alexander
won $51 each.
New Business: Doug Reed asked that
Classic Glass Corvette Club
the members support the businesses that
have helped out with our projects and
events (e.g., the Troxel restoration and
SuperVette Saturday). A list of business
was requested.
Closing: After Greg thanked the Sidelines
wait staff, he reminded the club that the
next Board of Directors Meeting is
February 7 and the next General Meeting
is scheduled for February 14.

fastest and most-capable convertible in
Corvette’s history.
2013 Corvette model run
information you need to know
Its heart is the 427-cubic-inch (7.0L) LS7
engine from the Corvette Z06. It is the most
powerful engine ever installed in a production
Corvette convertible. It will only available with
a six-speed manual transmission.
The 2013 model run is the final model run
for the C6 Corvette. This means the 2013
model run will be the last opportunity to
purchase the current Corvette models,
including Grand Sport, Z06 and ZR1. The
2013 model run is also scheduled to start
production in May 2012.
Keelie Sparks, Secretary 2011
The 427 Convertible also features several
carbon-fiber components, a raised hood, Z06style fenders, and floor panels that help
reduce weight.
The combination of low mass and high output
will make this one of the fastest convertibles
in the world, delivering estimated 0-60
performance of 3.8 seconds, and a top speed
of more than 190mph.
Classic Glass Corvette Club
The 2013 Corvette production period is
expected to run for approximately nine
months. That means the next model run will
NOT immediately follow the end of the 2013
model run. Dealers will need to be prepared
for several months in 2013 without
Corvette production.
