I have been honored to represent the Club as your President for this past year, and it has been a fun ride! Those who attended the “Annual Banquet” at the Coeur d’Alene Casino helped to jump-start our Club for 2015. The banquet attendance was one of the largest within recent memory, and we were treated very well by the Casino! By special request, we had a big screen TV in the middle of our room to allow the attendees to watch the Seahawks/Panthers NFC playoff game. For those of you off the grid or out of the country, the Seahawks are now on their way to their second Super Bowl within two years! It was fortunate that we were in one of the more remote areas of the Casino, as the attending members became very loud during certain Seahawk plays, but then very quiet when we discussed the subject of voting for Club leadership for 2015. According to our By-Laws, we are to vote for our officers during this Annual Meeting, however this year, there was really no formal nomination process, but, somehow, all of the 2014 officers will now be continuing to operate the SCC throughout 2015—I think that I missed something?? ;) With this is mind, the meetings will still be at Prospectors North in Spokane on North Division on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. The meeting agendas will be very similar to what was presented last year. We are always open to suggestions as to how any of this could improve, or if there are additional items that should be discussed. As your previous President, there were several mistakes that I have made at past meetings, such as forgetting to bring the raffle tickets to the Annual Banquet (Party). I also failed to announce to those of you that received clocks as door prizes, that these were given away with “batteries not included”. If you have plugged your clock into the wall, and the hands have not moved, you need to insert one or two “AA” batteries into the back to make the time piece work. I know, as I had to do this myself! It looks as though you all want to put up with me and my crack staff throughout 2015, and we all thank you for your support!! God help us all to save the wave!! Save the wave! Peter Kruse 2015 SCC President Volume 57 Issue 1 2015 Angelyne the "Billboard Queen" is Los Angeles. Sure, Randy Newman sang the praises of L.A. and maybe Denzel Washington was right when he said, “In Los Angeles, everyone is a star”, but only Angelyne actually is L.A. If the City of Angels was a living, breathing human being, it would look exactly like Angelyne—with piles of platinum hair, prodigiously cantilevered breasts, hot pink outfits with microscopically short skirts, funky shoes, and driving a hot pink Corvette. Angelyne recently took delivery of her ninth Corvette, a C7 Stingray coupe. Of course Corvette does not have a standard pink hue, but that didn’t stop our heroine. She took the Vette to Andre’s Auto Body in North Hollywood for the color conversion from white to pink—but not just any shade of pink. For her custom color, she went to master color mixer Ruben Hernandez at State Automotive Supplies, also in North Hollywood. Ruben has been mixing paint for almost 30 years and has worked on over 200 movies, including Godzilla, Rambo, and RoboCop. Ruben and Angelyne came up with a shade they called “Heroine Pink”. Andre removed all of the Corvette’s body panels, sprayed each with five coats of base color pink paint and four coats of clear topcoat. After curing for 48 hours, the panels were reinstalled and polished, and Angelyne and her Heroine Pink Stingray were ready to cruise the streets of Hollywood. Angelyne is a serial Corvette owner—she bought her first in the mid '80s and immediately fell in love with it. Since then, she has owned at least one of every generation of Corvette since the C3. When her Vette accumulates about 75,000 – 85,000 miles, Angelyne goes shopping for another one. And, of course, all her Corvettes are pink. When asked what it is about the color pink that she finds so attractive, she said, “The color pink has a thing about me. Pink is part of my persona and extension of my character, it helps me express the fact that I do something because I like it.” Volume 57 Issue 1 2015 SPOKANE CORVETTE CLUB MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES January 10, 2015 Annual Banquet The meeting was called to order at 6:50 p.m. by President Peter Kruse.
