Editor’s Note:
Due to vacation, tax time and some other
sundry issues I did not get the newsletter finished
before the General Membership Meeting.
As a service to the membership a new For Sale
Section has been added in this edition with Bill Folse’s
entry. So if you wish to list a Corvette for sale just send
me an email with the particulars and pictures in .jpeg
format and I will include it in the next newsletter. I will
display each article as a half or full page depending
upon space available. If you send more pictures than
will fit within that limit I will upload then to Picasa and
post a link, so you can include as many pictures as you
like. If you have any suggestions or comments
regarding the For Sale section please contact me.
Some guidelines:
 List your name and email or phone number you
wish to be contacted at.
 If you are interested in a car please reply
directly to the seller.
 The Corvette must be owned by a club
member or associate.
 The listing will run until sold or some
reasonable length of time that will be
determined after consultation with the
membership.
Initially announced at our March meeting, Craig
Eppling, Regional Communications Manager for
General Motors, has again offered to Crescent City
Corvette Club members a chance to drive a GM Car of
your choice for a week. We did this last year and
raised $475 for Children's Hospital. Tickets are $5 each
or 5 for $20. The winner will be drawn at the May
meeting. You do not have to be present at the meeting
to win. Members interested should contact Felix.
The Tri-Club Crawfish Boil is scheduled for
April 28th at the home of Rick and Collette Weaver.
RSVP's are required by April 24th. A firm headcount
will be established on the 24th. There will be no
exceptions to the deadline. If you want to attend
please e-mail Collette Weaver at

PRESIDENT’S SIGNALS
March was a very busy month for our club.
Don't rest yet. April has started off just as busy. On
the 14th we had our monthly traveling meeting. The
New Orleans group met at Lowes in New Orleans East
and the Northshore group met us at the Mississippi
Welcome Center on I-59. From there we drove on to
Hattiesburg and had lunch at the Farmer's Market.
Food was great. Wish that restaurant was closer to
New Orleans. We had a meeting with a great
presentation by Charley Horton on his adventures at
the Ron Fellows Driving School in Nevada. His
presentation and the DVD's were excellent. After the
meeting members went their own way, most of them
heading down to Hudson Salvage. Looking forward to
hearing of their adventures and treasured finds.
April 2, 2012
The meeting was opened at 7 a.m. Can’t say that it
was “Called to Order”….
Elisha reported on the final financials from the car
show and the proceeds from the show allowed us to
give $6,700.00 to our charity, Children’s Hospital of
New Orleans. The “Drive a GM Car for a week”, will get
us over the $7,000.00 mark. The presentation will be
at the WDSU telethon on Sunday afternoon, June 10th.
All are invited to participate in the telethon. Please let
Felix [email protected] know if you would like to
help.

The April “Travelling Meeting” will be to the “Farmer’s
Market Restaurant” in Hattiesburg, MS on Saturday,
April 14th. We will be departing from Lowes on Read
Blvd. at 9 a.m. with a pit stop at the Mississippi Visitor’s
Center on I-59, departing there at 10 a.m.
Crescent City will be working the tri club crawfish boil
on Saturday, April 28th. Our detail is to police the area
during and after the crawfish boil. If everyone pitches
in, it will be a snap.
On Saturday, April 21st, Baton Rouge Corvette Club is
hosting their annual “Labor of Love” Open Show in
Plaquemine, LA. They supported our LEGENDS Car
Show, so let’s get out and support them. Watch your
E-mail for caravan time.
The Charity Committee approved a $100.00 donation
to the Pontchartrain Squadron of the Louisiana Wing,
The Spring Confederation of Corvette Clubs of
Louisiana Road Trip is hosted by the Louisiana Chapter
of the National Corvette Restorers Society. On May
19th and 20th we are headed to the Petrified Forest in
Flora MS and the Battlefield Park in Vicksburg, MS,
featuring the USS Cairo. Save the date and watch for
additional information.
The next Board meeting will be at Venezia’s
Restaurant, 134 N. Carrollton Ave. New Orleans on
Tuesday, May 1st. Dinner at 6:30 and the meeting
starts at 7:00. Remember. All are invited. Please let
Mary [email protected] know if you will be
attending.
2012 Crescent City Legends Car Show
addition Rocky received the Children’s Hospital Choice
Award.
On March 10th we held our annual car show at
Boomtown Casino. Thanks to all the hard work by the
Board and Club members we were very successful in
attracting a great diversity of cars. In all we had 202
registrants and the weather could not have been
better. The weather was a bit dicey earlier in the week
due to days of heavy rainfall but by Thursday the
weatherman was predicting a 40% chance of rain.
Luckily we were in the 60% that remained dry.
Once again the GNOCC was presented with the
$100 Club Participation Award and again they
graciously donated it back to Children’s Hospital. The
Longest Distance Travelled went to Rocky Vowell from
Florida. I do not remember the town but regardless
they travelled a long way to attend our show. In
Civil Air Patrol for their contribution to our opening
ceremony.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
After everyone had left and everything was
packed up Nancy and I and some other club members
went to the Casino to cash in our chit for the 2 for 1
buffet. As we were standing in line Rocky and his wife
were behind us and we started talking. They had
travelled all that distance to be in the show and
express their support for Children’s Hospital. He said it
was really special that his car was selected by Roger for
the Children’s Hospital Choice Award and they would
always remember the honor.
The Best of Show Street Cruiser went to Ronnie
Vitellaro for his 1966 Chevy Chevelle and was
presented by Lionel Dowling and Debbie Carter.

The Banner Choice Award was presented by John
Touhy to Louie Cureau for his 1936 Chevy 5 Window

New Orleans International Auto Show
Starting Friday, March 16th and continuing through that Sunday, the CCCC
once again made a display at the New Orleans International Auto Show.
Again the limit to enter the Convention Center was 1/8th tank of gas or less
which is a bit of a challenge with all the other activities proceeding the
event. I managed to get the gauge to just over the limit and since I have a
short drive I did not anticipate any problems. Unfortunately, there was a
very large traffic jam on the bridge and I arrived about 30 minutes late but
still in time to take my place in the display. However, before I got the bridge
on the way home the Reserve Fuel light came on so I went straight to the
Chevron station and $60.42 (ouch) later Geraldine was full.
Participating in the display were
Ken and Edna Centola, Bob and
Gayle Decker, Charlie and Melody
Horton, Richie and Karen Plauche,
Vic and Faith Giordano, David and
Mary Beth Swindler, Bob and
Jimmy Leeds, Bill and Candy Folse
and Nancy and Richard. Of
course Felix made all the
arrangements and Gordon set up
our Banner. It is always easy for
us in the Corvettes to get in but
Gordon always has a hassle
bringing his truck in.
I was responsible for watching the
cars on Saturday morning but
when relieved I took some
pictures of the show and our
display that you will see in Picasa
link. Also some of the Picasa
pictures were taken by Felixx.
The NOLA Raceway had a display
next to us and I struck happened
to strike up a conversation with
the guy managing the Suzuki
Page | 6
display. We were looking at the Ferrari race car and he pointed to Charlie’s
ZR1 and he said, “That is the best value for a sports car and I will be looking
to buy one soon.” In obvious agreement I mentioned the club members go
to the Cars and Coffee events and he told me he had a Ferrari and usually
goes too but had missed the last couple events. So I was impressed that he
recognized that our choice of sports car.
I spent a little
time looking
at the other
cars on
display and
when I came
to this one a
thought
entered my
mind, Kind of
like the giant
marsh mellow
man in Ghost
Busters.
Sometimes an
impression is
made early on in life and it stays with you forever, “Fix it again Tony”. I
noticed the mileage estimate on the manual transmission model was not too
spectacular for the size of the car but the automatic transmission mileage
was very low compared to what I would have expected.
Also, again this year we had the March General Membership Meeting in the
Convention Center and Craig Eppling
was our guest speaker. Craig gave is
some insights on the direction Generous
Motors is headed, which is being
determined by the higher mileage
standards that will soon be in effect.
Reading the tea leaves, if you want a
new 427 equipped Corvette you need to
make a move very soon. The phrase
“Ain’t there no more” comes to mind.
