Now here’s a kid who knows what they want
for the holidays!
Since 1950, the Swiss Post has
accepted children’s letters to Santa,
which are full of thoughtful and
amusing observations. Each one
receives an individual answer – if the
address can be deciphered. The
thousands of letters come not only from
Switzerland, but from neighbouring
countries and even much further afield.
For 60 years a dedicated five-person
team based in canton Ticino has
answered Christmas letters from
children.

This is the second mustang that I have owned. The first one I owned was a 1989 Mustang GT also,
but it was a convertible. My dad ended up buying the hatchback that I have today and he ended
switching with me because this one is more reliable than the convertible. When I first took
ownership is when all the problems started taking place that my dad had never experienced. One day
on my way to school, that is about 4 miles away, the temperature gage pinned to the top and my eyes
couldn’t believe what I was seeing. This went on for about 6 months, but it would only happen
when Mollie or myself would be in the car. Somehow I was able to make it on the Alice’s run
without any problems. Come to find out my radiator was 90% clogged. After that the car runs
stronger I than had seen it before.

The car was mostly all stock when we got it from an older gentlemen in San Jose. We’re the
third owner of the car. This car has been a daily driver from the day it rolled off the assembly
line. The car just hit 240,000 miles and runs like a top. All it has is the stock 302 5.0 engine. It
has an after market flow master exhaust system to give it that little rumble, which we all love.
Other than that, the engine is all stock. My plans for the engine are, to change it from the
standard exhaust manifold and put on some BBK shorty equal length headers. After that I
would like to put on a Vortech supercharger, but my parents say otherwise to that change. Also,
my dad and I always talk about doing a manual transmission swap. It’s hard to find a clean fox
body mustang that has a 5 speed that hasn’t been abused, for the right price.

The interior is all-original and has been well kept. Though it is 26 years old, almost 27 now, it does
have some flaws that will be changed. The headliner has begun to sag some. Part of the driver side seat
stitching has been coming apart. The only thing non-stock in the interior of the car, when I took
ownership, was that I had to swap out the 6 cd changer and redo all the speakers. I ended up swapping
the outdated deck for a new pioneer higher quality deck. I was told to use Memphis Car Audio for all
my highs and mids and it was a great choice. Then in the back I have a Sound stream T5 12inch
subwoofer for a little bass.
Exterior wise the car doesn’t need that much work. I am hoping to have the car painted before next
years car show. The only thing holding me back from getting the car painted right now is that I need
new weather-strip all around the car. Also I want to swap the basic GT bumper and put in a Cobra style
GT bumper. It gives the fox body a cleaner look.

Pioneer High School Homecoming King and Queen and their Court Ride in Style in the Annual
Homecoming Parade
Written by VMOA Club Member, Cathy Hendrix
A big thank you to VMOA Club Members Charlie Wilson, Carol and Rod Davidson, and Chuck
Brown for volunteering their beautiful Mustangs and their time to drive the homecoming court around
the football field in the annual homecoming parade held at Pioneer High School in South San Jose on
October 9, 2015.
The Pioneer High School mascot is the distinguished and free spirited mustang so Dan and I decided
the seniors (homecoming king, homecoming queen and their court) must be driven around the football
field during halftime in nothing less than Mustang convertibles!
This year’s half time show consisted of a Freshmen class float followed by a Mustang, the Sophomore
class float followed by a Mustang, a Junior class float followed by a Mustang, and a Senior class float,
followed by yet another Mustang! Also joining us this year in the parade was a beautiful burgundy
1970s Cadillac convertible that was an incredible 19 feet long. Some nice parents of a current Pioneer
High School student owned the Cadillac and that being the case, we made an executive decision and
allowed this car to join our herd of Mustangs. This car was a boat as it was almost twice as long as
any of the Mustangs!
Dan and I have participated in this parade for several years now. It all started when our two kids,
Michelle and Brian, attended and graduated from Pioneer High School. We learned the school was
renting Mustang convertibles for their annual homecoming parades so Dan offered to drive his 2000
blue Mustang convertible to save the school some money. We kept up the parade tradition year to
year, eventually upgrading our parade ride to the 2007 RedFire Mustang GT California Special
convertible. Then in 2009, in honor of Dan’s father who had recently passed away, we polished up his
1985 Black Mustang GT convertible and I got to drive it in the parade.
This year’s drive around the football field, with two members of the homecoming court perched on
backend of each Mustang was a spectacular sight to see. The cars sparkled and shined under the
football field lights and when the cars approached the 50-yard line, the announcer shared each
student’s high school achievements and accomplishments and their future college plans with the
crowd.
During the Pioneer High School homecoming parade the football fans were treated to a 1969 Acapulco
Blue Mustang Convertible driven by Charlie Wilson, a 1965 Red Mustang Convertible driven by Rod
and Carol Davison (this is hard for Rod as you can well imagine, being a baseball coach for Branham
High School), a Green 1968 Mustang GT500KR Convertible, driven by Chuck Brown, a 2007 RedFire

Mustang GT driven by me!
Everyone enjoyed the parade and the students and faculty were appreciative of the club’s participation.
They have already reached out to us for the 2016 homecoming parade so if anyone has a Mustang
convertible and wants to join us for next year please let us know!
Students from the homecoming court talk to Carol Davison – these girls put “dibs” on the little Red
1965 Mustang…..

The Mustang World Unites
April 17th
One special day a year, the Mustang world unites by taking their Mustangs to
the road!
All Mustang enthusiasts know April 17th is the birthdate of the
Mustang and was first shown to the automotive world at the
New York World's Fair.
The goal of the National Mustang Day is to unite all of the
Mustang enthusiasts, by driving their Mustang. Imagine one
day a year, the Mustangs are everywhere! In fact, the Mustang
Club of America celebrates April 17th every five years as a
Mustang Birthday Celebration.
To make this happen, it will take Mustang Clubs, Registries and enthusiasts to help organize
the National Mustang Day. How? This year, April 17th falls on a Sunday, a perfect day to go
on a cruise. Organize a cruise, invite friends and neighbors to join as passengers.
As the Mustang World organizes such activity, let us know, so we can add it to the website.
We want to be the home base to help spread the information so clubs, Registries, and
automotive organizations can see how the Mustang Nation celebrates National Mustang Day.
So let’s get the Mustangs fixed up, cleaned up and take to work, let your co-workers know
you are a Mustang enthusiast, and you will find out your co-workers are Mustang
enthusiasts, too. Let the world see why we are Mustang enthusiasts. Whether you take the
Mustang on a cruise or to work, it is a day to drive the Mustang.
nationalmustangday.com is your headquarters to help make this event become part of the
Mustang World.
To help make this event build to the level to make all Mustang owners proud to be part of the
Mustang World, we will approach the Mustang manufacturers and service companies to help
advertise the event to their customers.
We also want to approach traditional restaurants and retailers, to help bring more attention to
National Mustang Day.
To make this a National event, we would like all clubs, Registries or/ad individuals to register
their plans. For those clubs that register, we will send them a window decal to proudly
display that they took part in the National Mustang Day-the largest Mustang event ever held.

price of the tickets. They went in the Visiting Locker Room and the Museum
with the History of the 49ers from 1946 to current. Cathy Hendrix reported
on the Pioneer Homecoming in October in which several of our members with
convertible Mustangs participated. They sent her photos, she will write an
article for next month’s newsletter.
