Der U.S. – German Business Summit widmet sich den wirtschaftspolitischen Beziehungen zwischen
Deutschland und den USA, dem diesjährigen Partnerland der HANNOVER MESSE. Mit großer Zuversicht
hoffen wir auf Keynote-Reden von Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel und Präsident Barack Obama. Es
diskutieren außerdem hochrangige Wirtschaftspolitiker und unternehmerische Entscheidungsträger
von beiden Seiten des Atlantiks über Themen wie TTIP, Entwicklungen auf den Energiemärkten und die
Bedeutung der Digitalisierung für Unternehmen. Der U.S.-German Business Summit wird vom Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie e.V. (BDI) in Kooperation mit der U.S. Chamber of Commerce veranstaltet.
The U.S. – German Business Summit will highlight the economic relations between Germany and the
United States, this year‘s partner country. Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Barack
Obama have been invited to give keynote speeches. High-level government and business representatives from both sides of the Atlantic will furthermore be discussing topics such as TTIP, developments in
energy markets and the role that digitalization plays for businesses. The U.S.-German Business Summit
is hosted by the Federation of German Industries (BDI) in cooperation with the U.S. Chamber of
Commerce.

The Chicago Region represents the dynamic center of of American machinery production and metal
fabrication technologies. Panel will highlight partnerships with educational, research and government
institutions exploring new approaches to workforce training, innovation and production.
Panel organized by the Chicago Metro Metal Consortium is one of 24 „manufacturing communities“
designated by the US Department of Commerce.
Supporting upporting the growth and development of clusters is a high priority in the United States
and the European Union. The U.S. Department of Commerce and the European Commission‘s DG
GROWTH are intensifying efforts to promote transatlantic collaboration between clusters and cluster
members through a Cooperation Arrangement on clusters signed in April 2015. During the seminar, U.S.
and European clusters, firms and governments will discuss best practices, tools and resources for clusters and cluster members seeking to form strategic partnerships across the Atlantic for trade, investment and technology cooperation. Speakers will include Elzbieta Bienkowska, EU Commissioner for
Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, Bruce Andrews, U.S. Department of Commerce
Deputy Secretary, and Chuck Hull, inventor of 3D printing and co-founder and CTO of 3D Systems.

Bundesministerin für Bildung und Forschung Prof. Dr. Johanna Wanka und U.S. Handelsministerin
Penny Pritzker werden an einer Podiumsdiskussion zum Thema duale Ausbildung in den USA teil
nehmen. Hierbei wird diskutiert, wie Unternehmen Elemente aus dem deutschen System der dualen
Ausbildung übernehmen und an die lokalen Bedürfnisse vor Ort anpassen. Hintergrund der Veranstaltung ist eine gemeinsame Erklärung aus dem Sommer 2015, in der sich beide Länder dazu verpflichten
betriebliche Ausbildung in den USA in Anlehnung an das deutsche Modell weiter auszubauen. Die
Panelisten werden diskutieren wie duale Ausbildung in den USA umgesetzt wird und wie in diesem
Bereich enger auf transatlantischer Ebene zusammengearbeitet werden kann um sicherzustellen, dass
es auch in Zukunft noch genügend qualifizierte Arbeitskräfte geben wird.
Federal Minister of Education and Research Prof. Dr. Johanna Wanka and U.S. Secretary of Commerce
Penny Pritzker will headline a panel discussion on how the companies and communities in the United
States are applying lessons from the German dual system of vocational education. The discussion
builds upon the strong foundation set last summer when the two countries entered into a joint
declaration of intent to partner on expanding apprentices in the German tradition in the United
States. The panelists will explore ways in which the United States is embracing the apprenticeship
model. They also will outline ways in which the United States and Germany can collaborate more
deeply to address shared challenges in building a skilled, adaptable workforce.

Von der geplanten Transatlantischen Handels-und Investitionspartnerschaft (TTIP) zwischen der EU
und den USA können gerade kleine und mittlere Unternehmen auf beiden Seiten des Atlantiks profitieren. Hier liegt ein großes, noch ungenutztes Potenzial für mehr Wachstum, mehr Innovation und mehr
Beschäftigung. Nicht nur für diejenigen Unternehmen, die selbst exportieren oder dies gern täten, sondern auch solche, die als Zuliefererbetriebe Teil der globalen Wertschöpfungsketten sind.
Bundeswirtschaftsminister Sigmal Gabriel diskutiert zusammen mit der Wirtschaftsministerin der
USA, Penny Pritzker, und deutschen sowie amerikanischen Vertreterinnen und Vertretern kleiner und
mittlerer Unternehmen, welche Chancen TTIP bietet.
Small and medium-sized businesses on both sides of the Atlantic can benefit from the Transatlantic
Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). There is clearly a lot of untapped potential for more growth,
more innovation and more jobs. Not only for those companies which already export or would like to
export goods and services, but also those who supply components as part of the global value chain.
Sigmar Gabriel, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy will discuss the opportunities offered
by TTIP with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker and representatives of SMEs from Germany and

The half day high level conference is the kick-off of a set of concrete actions at EU-level to support the
digitisation of industry that will complement and help scaling up national initiatives. The European
Commission will adopt on 6 April 2016 the package as part of its Digital Single Market Strategy. The
objective is to present the package and discuss with Ministers and industrial leaders the challenges of
the digital transformation of industry and the added value that EU action can bring. The focus will be
on partnerships, innovation hubs and standardization. In a second session, representatives of the USA
will exchange views with the European Commission and industry leaders on transatlantic collaboration in the context of the digital transformation. The sessions will include keynotes from President
Juncker, EU-Commissioner Oettinger, the Dutch Presidency, invited talks from Ministers and other high
level political and industry leaders followed by a moderated panel discussion.

Technology is a driver and key contributor to clean energy, climate change mitigation and sustainable
industrial development. Technology transfer plays an important role in the global response to supporting both the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation efforts to protect economies and

Vom 25. bis zum 29. April 2016 werden die wesentlichsten energiepolitischen Rahmenbedingungen
und energiewirtschaftlichen Herausforderungen erörtert sowie technologische Lösungen vorgestellt,
die uns in den nächsten Jahren helfen werden, die Versorgung effizienter, sicherer, umweltverträglicher
und wirtschaftlicher zu machen.

Is sector coupling a rescue for the ‘Energiewende’? Can we see the ‘Energiewende’ in our cities?
These are just some questions that will be discussed at the Energy Forum Life Needs Power. From the
25th – 29th April 2016, the most significant energy related political and economic parameters and
challenges will be discussed in Hall 13, stand D30. Furthermore, technological solutions will be presented that will help us in the next years to make the energy supply not only more efficient, but also safer,

Bohrtechnik GmbH spricht über seine Erfahrungen; Einblicke in den Markt durch die AHK Kenia sowie

Die Erschließung von Kenias großem Geothermiepotential ist in vollem Gange. Die gesamte Wertschöpfungskette, von der Erkundung bis zur Energieproduktion, bietet Geschäftschancen für deutsche
Unternehmen. Mittelfristig haben Kenia und Tansania die Entwicklung ihres Öl- und Erdgassektors fest
im Blick. Brunnenbohrungen für den öffentlichen oder insbesondere den privaten Sektor spielen ebenfalls eine große Rolle.
Speziell bei Brunnen- und Geothermiebohrungen kann sich die Technologie deutscher Unternehmen

This impulse session targets market chances in exploration and drilling technology in East Africa. PRAKLA Bohrtechnik GmbH will talk about its experiences; market perspectives (AHK Kenia) and instruments of development cooperation for foreign trade promotion /EZ-Scout) will be presented and
discussed.
The development of Kenya’s large geothermal energy potential is well underway. The whole value
chain, from exploration to energy production offers business potentials for German companies. Kenya
and Tanzania eagerly pursue the development of their oil and natural gas resources. Well drilling for
the public and especially for the private sector take a considerable stake.
German companies can penetrate these markets if their technological edge and added value is clearly
pointed out- advanced technology, quality/ security and environmental standards, the inclusion of
local content and the willingness to engage in training of local staff.

arises concerning the opportunities associated with the factories of the future in Germany. How can
Germany remain attractive for business? Why are highly innovative foreign companies still investing in
Germany? What business conditions do we need? In the light of new challenges posed by Industry 4.0,
how can we continue to design and utilize these business conditions in order that no questions will be
raised by a foreign company if it will invest in Germany, but only when? These and other points are the

haben alle die Möglichkeit, Technik auszuprobieren.

Am Messefreitag, dem 29. April 2016, bietet Tec2You unter dem Motto Festival of Technology darüber
hinaus allen Jugendlichen ab 15 Jahren einen erlebnisreichen Besuch der HANNOVER MESSE zum
Sondereintrittspreis von 3,00 EUR.
The Tec2You initiative makes it possible – and very attractive – for school leavers and students to take a
trip to Hannover in order to attend HANNOVER MESSE, where they can discover exciting careers in
engineering and other technical fields. The program is particularly targeted at young people in their
final year of schooling or vocational training, as well as first-semester students and enrollees of
vocational schools. Friday, 29 April, is the special Festival of Technology at Tec2You, which features an
exciting program rich in hands-on experience. This program – for which admission costs only EUR 3 per
person – is aimed at young people 15 or older.
