Willard Wigan MBE at London House London House invites
Get “Intimate With…” Willard Wigan MBE at London House London House invites guests to an evening with Willard Wigan MBE, the celebrated micro-‐sculptor whose astonishing, microscopic art can barely be seen to be believed, on Tuesday 17th February. For the first in the series of “Intimate With…” evenings, guests will listen to Wigan talk about his life and dedication to his craft while sipping bespoke Bombay Sapphire cocktails and enjoying canapés prepared by Head Chef Anna Haugh. Wigan’s work is on an unbelievable scale, sculpting characters and icons within the eye of a needle or on top of a pinhead requiring a microscope for viewers to see. Using a range of materials, from grains of sand to tiny shards of diamond, Wigan undertakes an unbelievable process to create physics-‐defying art whereby he relaxes himself to a meditative state and carves out his pieces between heart beats; even the slightest tremor can completely ruin a piece being perfected. His groundbreaking craft earned Wigan an MBE in 2007 and he counts HRH Prince Charles, Sir Elton John and Simon Cowell among collectors of his work – which has been dubbed by some critics as “the eighth wonder of the world”. Taking place at London House in Battersea from 7pm – 8:15pm, this evening is the first in the ‘Intimate With…’ series and tickets (£20) can be booked by calling 020 7592 1226 or emailing [email protected]. Vogue fashion features editor Laura Weir will be the next guest speaker on 24th April.
