Top celebrity chef, Gordon Ramsay of the `THE f WORD
AND CHAROLLAIS Top celebrity chef, Gordon Ramsay of the ‘THE f WORD’ Channel 4 programme chose CHAROLLAIS X WELSH MOUNTAIN lambs to rear in his garden in London and to serve at a special dinner at Claridges. The F Word is filmed in the glamourous F Word restaurant, based in central London. Each show turns the restaurant into a highoctane environment, where guests enjoy the culinary masterpieces. AND CHAROLLAIS Gordon travelled to Aberkinsey Farm in North Wales to meet award winning sheep farmer Meilir Owain Jones. They selected the Charollais Ram and checked him for meaty qualities and good testicles! The Charollais ram soon got down to business and served the Welsh Hill ewes. AND CHAROLLAIS Meilir delivers Gordon’s special F Word Charollais X Welsh lambs, Gavin and Charlotte, along with their mothers, to his home in London. The whole Ramsay family is involved, putting up fencing and making friends with the new lambs. AND CHAROLLAIS Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall comes to visit, and is impressed by the growth and shape of the lambs. He feels they need some “environmental enrichment” and builds them a new mountain. But they need to move to pastures new and find a new home at “Beckingham Palace”. AND CHAROLLAIS Mei and his shearing expert Robin arrive at Beckingham Palace to shear the ewes. Gordon has a go but his fleece ends up more than a little holey. This was the last time Gordon would see Charlotte alive - she was killed, possibly by a large cat. AND CHAROLLAIS Meilir supplies Gordon with two Charollais lambs to make sure he has sufficient, delicious and succulent lamb for his Claridges dinner. At 17 weeks they are old enough for slaughter, but Gavin escapes the abattoir due to antibiotic treatment. AND CHAROLLAIS The Charollais lambs are served up at Claridges in two fabulous dishes - shepherds pie, and a roast leg of lamb with goat’s cheese. Everyone agrees the lamb is delicious; tender and full of flavour. The perfect lamb, cooked to perfection. Roast leg of Charollais lamb with goat’s cheese, mint and rosemary, mint & lemon. Charollais Shepherds pie served with pan-roasted carrots.
