Summer Camp Guide 2016 - Wanakee United Methodist Center
2016 Program Guide AM ROGR P G N I C I R P 6 TIER 201 HELLO FRIENDS! I am so excited about the tremendous programs planned by Wanakee volunteers and staff for summer 2016. No matter your age or interests, I am confident you’ll find something to look forward to this summer in this program guide. Campers of all ages will make new friends, challenge themselves, experience Christian community, explore their relationship with God, and make unforgettable memories. Wanakee offers a safe environment and range of activities which encourage personal and spiritual growth. Many of my favorite childhood memories are from time spent at camp. I will never forget my first run on the zip line, learning to play “spoons” with new friends on a rainy Sunday night, starlit walks through the field, or the impact that Wanakee counselors and staff had on my personal development. The experiences I had and relationships I formed at Wanakee continue to shape my life every day. I appreciate the trust you put in the Wanakee staff whenever you send your child to camp for a week (or more!). We are excited to continue our accreditation through the American Camp Association in 2016, and our 10 day+ staff-training will focus on safety in all forms. Sending your child to camp is an investment that will serve them for life, and we will nurture that investment with great care. This summer, we are especially excited to welcome campers and volunteers from our sister camp in Vermont, Covenant Hills, while they map out future programming. No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, there’s a place for you at Wanakee in 2016. I’ll see you there. Grace and Peace, James Tresner, Executive Director Wanakee United Methodist Center OUR MISSION Summer camp has great value in the life of a child. Genuine community is experienced, ministry to the whole person takes place, relationships are built with God and others, memories and major life commitments are made, and tomorrow’s leaders are developed today. Camps are also a great value! We are proud to say that all of our basic camp programs are below the industry average price of $690.00. Our 2016 Tier Pricing is intended to recognize the costs related to the camp experience and allow families to select the level of payment most appropriate for their circumstances. Each family may freely choose to participate at the Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 level; and every child will receive the same camp experience regardless of the level chosen. TIER PRICING LEVELS: TIER 1: true cost of camp 1 The Tier 1 level constitutes the true cost of camp including all aspects of maintaining facilities in good condition, insurance, utilities, etc. and helps ensure the sustainability of Wanakee UMC. TIER 2: direct cost of camp 2 Electing to pay the Tier 2 price helps cover the direct cost of a week of summer camp including program costs, food, summer staff and camp administration. TIER 3: partial cost of camp 3 Every effort is made to keep the cost of camp as affordable as possible. At this level, every camper’s fee is partially subsidized by generous donations to the Wanakee Campership Fund by individuals and churches throughout our district and conference. Carefully consider and choose what your family can afford to pay for camp. By choosing the highest Tier in your price range, you also contribute to Wanakee’s ability to offer camp to all who would like to participate. These Tiers are color coded and will be reflected in the pricing for each camp in this program guide. To love, accept, challenge and provide opportunities for growth to all God’s people within our “Beautiful, Spiritual Place in the Hills.” To help individuals interact with one another, build relationships and grow in their Christian faith through experiences within a Christian community. To send them forth into the world to celebrate and share God’s love. A SUMMER OF FUN TODDLERS IN TOW Join us for two nights with your toddler.
