Gonzalo Bergara créée un jazz aux mille influences : musique classique, jazz manouche, traditionnels argentins et standards américains se retrouvent dans sa musique. Le guitariste s'entoure de son quartet californien pour l'ouverture de notre 33e édition, sous le signe du voyage et de la fraternité ! After getting an early start to his career in a blues trio in Argentina at the age of 16, Gonzalo Bergara was first introduced to the music of Django. This was an encounter that would make an indelible impression on him. He decided to head for the States where he would play alongside the likes of Manhattan Transfer, John Jorgenson, Howard Alden or even our very own Sylvie Vartan! Gonzalo Bergara’s jazz draws on a patchwork of influences, including classical music gipsy jazz, traditional Argentinean music and American standards. Les frères terribles du jazz manouche ont parcouru le monde et ont joué avec les plus grands. C'est Boulou, l'aîné, qui apprendra la guitare à son frère après un début de carrière plus que prometteur : à 13 ans, il jouait en première partie de John Coltrane ! Récemment décoré de l’ordre des Arts et Lettres, nos deux chevaliers du swing s’emparent de la scène de l’Ile du Berceau. Et pour notre festival, ces frangins invitent le contrebassiste Pierre Boussaguet, protégé de Ray Bryant et complice de Diana Krall, Wynton Marsalis, Clark Terry ou encore Monty Alexander... Amitié et complicité au rendez‐vous ! Having a father who played alongside Django and Stephane Grappelli, Boulou and Elios both had a pretty good start in life! These two gipsy jazz siblings have gone all around the world in the company of the great names in music. Elder brother Boulou taught his younger brother the guitar, while already enjoying his own promising career. At 13 years old he was playing on the same bill as John Coltrane! These two ‘Sultans of Swing’ were recently decorated with the French Order of Arts and Letters, and will be gracing our stage in the company of double bass player Pierre Boussaguet, Ray Bryant’s talented protégé and sideman with Diana Krall, Wynton Marsalis, Clark Terry and Monty Alexander. Il n'y aurait pas assez de place ici pour faire la liste de ceux qui lui ont fait confiance ! Citons parmi eux Elvin Jones, Wynton Marsalis, Dee Dee Bridgwater, Billy Cobham ou encore Marcus Miller... Avec son dernier projet « Organic », Sylvain Luc s'entoure de « vieux copains » pour un album aux reflets d'enfance et de souvenirs... Aux côtés de Thierry Elliez et André Ceccarelli, le guitariste offre un jazz teinté de fusion et de rock, mais aussi de ballades... Le voyage commence. In a career spanning thirty years, Sylvain Luc has made his mark as one of the greatest of Europe’s guitarists. There isn’t enough space here to list all of the artists that he has appeared with, but they include Elvin Jones, Wynton Marsalis, Dee Dee Bridgwater, Billy Cobham and even Marcus Miller. D'un côté, les roumains de Taraf de Haïdouks (« l'orchestre des bandits d'honneur »), qui fêtent leur vingtième anniversaire après avoir parcouru le monde pour distiller leur musique enivrante... De l'autre, le Kocani Orkestar, fanfare macédonienne aux cuivres puissants et aux percussions étourdissantes... Le résultat ? 26 musiciens au service d'un orchestre improbable et remarquable ! The Band of Gypsies vont nous faire danser et nous emmener très loin... Embarquement immédiat ! Two pillars of gipsy music have joined together to form a big band ! On the one hand, we have the Romanian Taraf de Haïdouks (“the orchestra of outlaws”), celebrating their 20th anniversary of intoxicating performances the world over. On the other, we have the Macedonian fanfare Kocani Orkestar, with its solid brass section and heavy‐hitting percussions. The combination gives us 26 musicians serving an orchestra that is as outstanding as it is unusual! The “Band of Gypsies” will have us up on our feet and they are all set to take us to another place, so be ready for take‐off!

Sa dextérité et sa maturité lui ont déjà permis de se faire une belle place dans la famille musicale des héritiers de Django Reinhardt. Et il est à très bonne école, puisque son père n'est autre que Dorado Schmitt, le guitariste et compositeur à la renommée internationale ! En quartet, la nouvelle étoile montante de la guitare est à découvrir... et risque de faire parler de lui ! Aged only 16, Sonny Amati Schmitt is one of gipsy jazz’s young hopefuls to keep a sharp eye on! His dexterity and maturity have already ranked him high on the list of Django Reinhardt’s successors. He couldn’t really be better placed, given that his father is none other than the internationally acclaimed guitarist and composer Dorado Schmitt! Here he is playing in a quartet, a rising star in the guitar world that hasn’t had his last word yet !

Un pied en Afrique, un autre à Cuba, la tête dans le jazz, c'est un tour du monde que propose le Kora Jazz Band, griot des temps modernes ! The Kora Jazz Trio was founded in 2003 from an encounter between Abdoulaye Diabaté and Moussa Sisokho, with the idea of blending West African and Mali Mandingo tradition with the freedom afforded by jazz. C’est à Dammarie‐les‐Lys, que le violoniste a monté ce lieu d’apprentissage. On y retrouve les meilleurs professionnels reconvertis, durant une année scolaire, en professeur émérite pour former les nouvelles générations de jazzmen. De Fiona Mombet à Thomas Encho, ce sont des dizaines de jeunes musiciens qui chaque année sortent de cette institution. Pour la promotion 2012 le groupe Jooz s'inscrit dans une fusion des genres. En bateau Les propriétaires de bateau logement peuvent se rendre à Samois en empruntant le fleuve. Depuis de nombreuses années des péniches stationnent le long de l'île du Berceau durant le festival.
