Since acquisition by Ogier in 2000, the reputation of Clos de l’Oratoire des
Papes has grown across five continents, yet is still crafted in respect to a great
heritage. The distinctive label, created in 1928, has remained unchanged to this
day. A continuous quest for perfection has been honoured by the international
press, making Clos de l’Oratoire des Papes a reference wine in Châteauneuf-duPape, and a presence in top restaurants and exclusive retailers.
From April to July 2012, prior to the 2012 harvest, Chateauneuf-du-Pape had a
temperature ranging between 55º and 76º F and received two inches of rainfall.
Late summer was hot and dry, with the temperature ranging between 61º and
83º during August and September. It was an exceptionally sunny year, with the
vines receiving 1,811 hours of sun. Periods of rainfall at the end of both August
and September, however, proved adequate to save the vines from hydrostatic
stress, with the second rains allowing sufficient maturation of the later grapes.
Overall conditions proved quite satisfactory for the 2012 harvest.
Clos de l’Oratoire des Papes Blanc is ideal with fish, crayfish, quenelles of pike in
nantua sauce, and exotic dishes.
