Sarah Gallos - Made in BC Dance on Tour
2016 Photo Willoughby Arevalo / Performers Isabelle Kirouac and Nayana Fielkov Made in BC – Dance on Tour and the Conseil culturel et artistique francophone de la Colombie-Britannique are embarking on a new challenge: to promote and widely disseminate francophone dance around British Columbia with the program Des arts dehors / Arts Outside. Three artists make up our selection for this first edition. They offer us short form artistic projects, adaptable to multiple public spaces and unusual places. They bring us creative, unifying and participative pieces in order to engage the francophone community around dance in British Columbia. Inspired and mentored by La danse sur les routes du Québec and its program Jouer dehors, Des arts dehors / Arts Outside is supported for the next 3 years by the Canada Council for the Arts through the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Roadmap for Canada’s Official Languages. The dance winds and unwinds through and around the public who are arranged in the round. Yarn is integrated into the choreography and weaves an architecture that links public and place to the dancer. While dancing, the yarn gets tangled in a large knot of bright colors – knitting unlocks memories, allowing our own family history to re-emerge. We experience TRICOTER through play, curiosity, and exploration of belonging to a community. 4 intended to be performed Choreographer: Julie Lebel Artistic director: Sarah Gallos Performer: Anne Cooper Performers: Sarah Gallos and Hailey McCloskey Year of creation: 2015-2016 Year of creation: 2015 Lenght: 15 minutes Lenght: 15 minutes Preparation required: 90 minutes setup Preparation required: 1 hour setup The stamp includes: Props (wool and needles) The stamp includes: Props The dancers extend their On-site technical requirements, in brief: - 1 sound technician - 1 sound system - 2 speakers with mp3 cable On-site technical requirements, in brief: Inside: - 1 sound technician - 1 sound system - 2 speakers with mp3 cable space; they observe the space and Space required: inside or outside a minimal surface of 5m x 5m (grass, concrete, ashphalt – level, dry, clean and safe).
