Made in BC – Dance on Tour and the Conseil
culturel et artistique francophone de la
Colombie-Britannique are embarking on
a new challenge: to promote and widely
disseminate francophone dance around
British Columbia with the program
Des arts dehors / Arts Outside.
Three artists make up our selection for this
first edition. They offer us short form artistic
projects, adaptable to multiple public
spaces and unusual places. They bring us
creative, unifying and participative pieces in
order to engage the francophone community
around dance in British Columbia.
Inspired and mentored by La danse sur les
routes du Québec and its program Jouer
dehors, Des arts dehors / Arts Outside is
supported for the next 3 years by the Canada
Council for the Arts through the Department
of Canadian Heritage’s Roadmap for
Canada’s Official Languages.

the relationship between a
acrobatic stilt dancer, HABITATS
by the themes of migration
and imagination. Through
choreographic sequences
and ambulatory interactions,
a woman accompanied by a
mysterious white hare travels
through dream-like roads in
search of her identity.
Some inspiring ideas: - The performance can be
presented 2 times a day, inside or outside in public
spaces.
- Additional roving can be provided by the performers.
- Dance, physical theater and/or clown workshops
can be offered for groups of all ages.

circle. The dance winds and
unwinds through and around
the public who are arranged in
the round. Yarn is integrated into
the choreography and weaves an
architecture that links public and
place to the dancer.
While dancing, the yarn gets
tangled in a large knot of
bright colors – knitting unlocks
memories, allowing our own
family history to re-emerge.
We experience TRICOTER
through play, curiosity, and
exploration of belonging to
a community.

Some inspiring ideas:
- We are especially interested in vast natural
spaces. If performed indoors, big spaces, such as
a lobby or a hall.
- Possibility for a movement workshop which may
or may not relate to our piece. No experience
necessary.
