What it’s like? What are their responsibilities? And, why it’s so important to have programs like Jobies for the future of our Youth? impacted you personally and the benefits of the organization. What do you get out of Job’s Daughters? Today’s young people have a myriad of opportunities presented to them. Why choose Job’s Daughters versus another organization? How does Job’s Daughters affect the community? Intro Lorraine Newman: What is Job’s Daughters International? A Masonic Youth Group founded in 1920 by Ethel T. Wead Mick, from Omaha, NE for girls between the ages of 10 and 21. Our local chapter was founded in 1946. Job’s Daughters is not just an organization for girls, but for the community. By giving girls the tools and skills to lead and work hard, you are, in turn, strengthening your community. Also, by a parent giving their Daughters the experience and opportunity that Job’s Daughters has, they’re giving their daughter a head start in every aspect of their adult life. There are chapters, or as they call them Bethels, in 31 States and 5 Countries. While they use the book of Job from the Old Testament as an aid in their understanding of perseverance and self-worth or as they say it the relationships between faith, patience, and reward that is just the beginning. What they become while involved with the organization is self-confident, capable leaders for the future, but I will let them tell you about that. Name: Ashley Tohlen Title: Miss Washington Job’s Daughters Where are you from? How old were you when you joined Job’s Daughters? How old are you now? I understand there is a competition for this position. Tell us about that. You have been travelling since June representing Washington Job’s Daughters let us know how this has If someone would like you to come and speak to their organization how can they contact you? Name: Kaillie Bateman Title: Miss British Columbia Where are you from? How old were you when you joined Job’s Daughters? How old are you now? You won a similar competition in British Columbia and preform similar duties. What is the role of Miss British Columbia Job’s Daughter? The role of the Miss British Columbia is to represent all the Jobs Daughters in BC. I go to other Masonic family events and community functions to speak on behalf of and about Jobs Daughters. To become this representative, I have to know about Jobs Daughters on an international and local level. Throughout the year I SATURDAY MORNING LIVE FOR JAN 24, 2015 ~ “WE’RE LIVE – WE’RE ABOUT LIBERTY – WE’RE FOCUSED ON YOU!” – 8:00 AM - KGMI 790AM - (360) 676-5464 / 676-KGMI have been asked to attend and speak at many events, I also go to many fun activities with the members. I try to be friendly with all the girls, answer any questions they have and be someone who they can talk to about Jobies and to be a positive role model. Name: Mikaela Kent You also competed for the Miss International tile last July. Where was that event held? Who won? How old were you when you joined Job’s Daughters? What are some of the benefits a young woman can gain from Job’s Daughters? We learn public speaking, organization, communication, and self-confidence. We are involved in community service work, running our own meetings, doing our own fund raising, fun activities and making lifelong friendships. When girls join the organization they often start shy and don’t like to talk to anyone else. When they start to become more comfortable and more confident it’s one of the best things to see. Watching the girl’s gain skills are one of the best things because you know that Job’s Daughters has helped in shaping today’s youth. What have you gained from being in this organization? Of Course the leadership skills I have mentioned help me on job interviews and have improved my skills in working with others. I have made so many friends through Job’s Daughters. First there are my friendships in my own bethel, than those I have met in my own jurisdiction of British Columbia. Representing the organization on an International level, I have friends in the US, Canada, Philippines, Australia and Brazil. These are both both girls and adults and many will be life-long. If someone would like you to come and speak to their organization how can they contact you? Title: WA Grand Bethel Honored Queen Where are you from? How old are you now?
