CCC OFFERS FOUR NEW COURSES
Cainta Catholic College received last July 2008 the Certificate of Program Recognition (CoPR) for Health
Care Services, Caregiver, Computer Hardware Services and Programming courses from the Technical
Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The grant of such recognition by TESDA demonstrates
the readiness and competence of CCC to provide excellent quality allied health education and the ladderization
of the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS).
The offering of these new
courses is in line with the Five Point
Educational Thrusts of our college
president, Msgr. Arnel F. Lagarejos.
Even at the outset of his incumbency
as CCC college president, Msgr.
Lagarejos wishes to make the most of
what CCC can offer to the people of
Cainta and the Diocese of Antipolo.
A meeting with the Honorable
Commissioner Nona Ricafort of the
Commission on Higher Education
(CHED) was initiated by the college
president and it turned out to be very
fruitful. Commissioner Ricafort
suggested that, since the moratorium
in the opening of new Nursing course
is still in force, it is better to go for
the Ladderized Education Program
(LEP). Based on this LEP concept,
Caregiver and Health Care Services
(or Practical Nursing) courses can
become a ladder towards BS Nursing
degree. The Computer Hardware
Services and Programming courses
are ladder towards BS in Computer
Science. The Ladderized Education
Program is being implemented under
the authority of the Executive Order
No. 358 of Her Excellency President
Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
With high hopes that CCC
can fulfill the requisites of this
Ladderized Education Program, a

Meets the Youth of the World
at World Youth Day 2008
BY: Mrs. Leony Maranan & Mr. Andy Arcilla
This year, continuing its tradition of attracting millions of
participants to the biggest celebration of young people on earth,
World Youth Day ’08 was held in Sydney, Australia. A week-long
series of events which was presided by Pope Benedict XVI, as
invitation to the youth of the world to celebrate faith around this
year’s theme: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come
upon you and you will be my witnesses.” (Acts 1:8)
Blessed are those who have come to be one of the participants and
listen to testimonies of love from the Pope himself. Nevertheless, our
country, or every diocese, is sending people as our representatives
to this international spiritual gathering, so they can share the same
blessings when they returned to us.
Lucky for the entire community of CCC, our College President
and Parish Priest of Our Lady of Light Parish, Rev. Msgr. Arnel F.
Lagarejos, with the other 5 priests and 19 youths
in the Diocese of Antipolo including Ms.

CCC Achieves the Desired Increase in Enrolment
BY : Mr. Andy Arcilla
When the College Registrar, through the initiative of our College President, Rev. Msgr. Arnel F.
Lagarejos, had announced the admission, it had received outstanding inquiries since then. With that, for
this year a remarkable increase in enrolment is achieved.
According to our Registrar,
there is something that we have
to look beyond this increase, that
is, a lot of outstanding students
from our neighboring schools
have chosen our school from the
acceptance pool. Not only they
were honor students, but more of
being better students as a whole.
With the increase of students,
the school made an initiative to at
least reduce to approximately 45 number
students per classroom. This is one of
the reasons why CCC is beginning to
be the preferred educational institution,
aside from what the College is really
giving to the students, an education
which is excellent, quality and Catholic.
Added to this was the re-structuring of
many facilities for enhancement of the
learning process and to have a place
conducive to learning.

“Our role is to help school inside and outside.”, said Mrs.
Sharina C. Iigan, owner of Data Access who has been our
partner for almost 10 years in most of our printed materials
like our Annual, Handbook, and Ginintuang Uhay.
In a seminar last June 27, 2008
with the former staffers of Uhay, Mrs.
Iligan told the group on how to start
the school organ and yearbook to avoid
complications in the end. She discussed
in detail the steps that should be done
to produce good results. Ms. Jamie
Llovia and Mr. Archivald Manalo, the
Data Access lay-out artists, discussed
the materials to be used in making the
yearbook and its layout. Mr. Manalo
said, “The lay-out artist will make or
break a newspaper or any of the same
kind.” They also told us how important
our roles are for we deliver and send
the news which may be known or
unknown to the community of CCC.
In the end, Mr. Joel C. Javiniar,
VP for Academics, thanked the team
from Data Access, for spending their
time and providing us the knowledge
on making printed materials. Mr.
Javiniar awarded the Certificate of
Recognition to Mrs. Iligan.

After the six-day seminar of gaining knowledge about the Basic Orientation Course for New Catechists

After the relocation and renovations of our new office, our Ginintuang Uhay advisers gave two consecutive
orientations to those who were interested to join and be staffers of our school organ.
The responses of students were so inspiring and brought much delight to our advisers. More than fifty students
of the HS department and thirty pupils from the GS department attended the said orientations.
Those students who attended the orientations were asked to write something about the “new” CCC, and these
written exams will be the bases for selecting participants on July 19 Seminar- Workshop. Those who possess good
skills in drawing and photography will also be invited to this one-day seminar. The morning session will be allotted
for the lectures and the afternoon session will be for the workshop.

MASS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (Diocese of Antipolo)
By: Mrs. Maritess C. Minas
Most Rev. Gabriel V. Reyes, Bishop of Antipolo, led the anual Mass of the Holy Spirit at the Shrine of Our
Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in Antipolo City last June 16, 2008. This yearly gathering of DACSA(Diocese
of Antipolo Catholic School Association) family is participated by school directors, administrators, and faculty
aimed to strengthen unity among members and to give thanks to God for His countless blessings.
In his homily, Bishop Gabriel
addressed the assembly, (being
Catholic educators), the purpose of
Catholic schools is to make disciples
out of our children. He also stressed
that being Catholic institutions the
knowledge of the faith should be
integrated in other fields of discipline
and produce not only knowledgeable
students but most especially students
with Christian formation He also
added, “Teach our children to know
God, to love God and to serve Him.
Lead our children to live what they
have learned in school. Help them
build personal relationship with Christ
who is alive. Jesus is not an idea but
a person who loves us,not a person
who lived two thousand years ago but
a person who suffered, who is ready to
love and listen and therefore should be
loved in return.” Finally he said, “It is
not easy to live as Christiansbecause
there are sufferings, difficulties along
the journey of life but if there is lover in
our hearts, we are inspired to endure
all hardships.Aim high. Christian life
is loving the Lord. We are complaining
of too much politics but we forget the
basic thing- we need the grace of God
and acknowledge Him in our daily
living.”
Before the final blessing, high
school students from Our Lady of
Peace School offered a hymn to the
Blessed Virgin Mary.
Rev. Fr. Paquito Gallego,
Superintendent of DACSA, in his
welcome remarks, “Tayo na sa
Antipolo. Let’s pay homage to our
Lady and gather as one family
because we have so many reasons
to be thankful.” He expressed his
gratitude to the following: Christ, by
giving us sheperds in the persons of
Bishop Gabriel Reyes and priests and
directors. Second, Catholic institutions
who have inspired their students and
updating themselves to master their
craft. Fourth, the staff and personnel
who supported the institution. Lastly,
to the Holy Eucharist, the consoling
presence of the Holy Eucharist for
the challenges of the new millenium
and to everyone who demonstrate
communion and keep on telling and
re-telling God’s love in their respective
abode and the Lady of Peace School
for hosting the event.
His last message,”Hindi lang
ngayon ang pakikiisa kundi sa lahat
ng panahon para sa ating mga
estudyante.”

By: Atty. Carmencita CPL LOGAN
The universal Church declared June 28, 2008 to June 29, 2009 as
the Year of St. Paul, celebrating his 2,000th birth anniversary. St. Paul,
one of Christ’s apostles, has written many epistles or letters found in the
Bible.
TUNGKULIN SA MGA PINUNO
NG BAYAN (ROMA 13:1-7)
1. Ang bawat tao’y pasakop sa
mga pinuno ng pamahalaan.
Sapagkat walang pamahalaang
hindi mula sa Diyos at ang mga
pamahalaang umiiral ay itinatag
ng Diyos.
2. Ang lumalaban sa pamahalaan
ay lumalaban sa mga itinakda
ng Diyos; at lalapatan ng parusa
ang sinumang lumalaban.
3. Ang mga pinuno ay dapat
katakutan ng gumagawa ng
masama, ngunit walang dapat
ikatakot sa kanila ang gumagawa
ng mabuti.
4. Gumawa ka ng mabuti at di mo
katatakutan ang mga namumuno
sa halip papupurihan ka nila.
5. Ang mga namumuno ay mga
lingcod ng Diyos sa ikabubuti
mo.
6. Ang mga namumuno ay may
kapangyarihang magparusa.
7. Magbayad kayo ng buwis sa
kinauukulan.
8. Gumalang sa nararapat igalang.
9. Parangalan ang dapat
parangalan.
TUNGKULIN SA KAPWA
(ROMA 13:8-14)
1. Huwag kayong magkaroon ng
sagutin kaninuman liban sa
saguting tayo’y mag-ibigan.
2. Ang umiibig sa kapwa ay
nakatutupad sa kautusan.
3. Ang mg autos ay nabubuo sa
ganitong pangungusap “Ibigin
mo ang iyong kapwa gaya ng
iyong sarili.”
4. Ang umiibig ay hindi gumagawa
ng masama kaninuman.
5. Ang pag-ibig ang kabuuan ng
kautusan.
6. Ang pagliligtas sa atin ay higit
na malapit ngayon kaysa noong
tayo’y magsimulang manalig sa
kanya.
7. Layunan na natin ang lahat ng
gawang masama (iwaksi natin
ang mga gawa ng kadiliman).
8. Italaga ang sarili sa paggawa
ng mabuti (Isuot ang baluti ng
kaliwanagan).
9. Mamuhay tayo ng marangal.
10.Huwag gugulin ang panahon sa
paglalasing.
11. Huwag gugulin ang panahon sa
magulong pagsasaya.
12.Huwag gugulin ang panahon sa
pagpapakasawa sa pita ng laman
at kahalayan.
13.Huwag gugulin ang panahon sa
alitan.
14. Huwag gugulin ang panahon sa
inggitan.
15.Ang Panginoong Jesu-Cristo ang
paghariin ninyo sa inyong buhay.
16.Huwag paglaanan ang laman
upang bigyang-kasiyahan ang
mga nasa nito.
HUWAG HUMATOL SA IYONG
KAPATID (ROMA 14: 1-12)

pananampalataya.
2. Huwag pagpupunahin ang
kuru-kuro ng mahina sa
pananampalataya.
3. May naniniwalang maaari siyang
kumain ng kahit ano, ngunit
gulay lamang ang kinakain ng
mahina sa pananampalataya.
Huwag hamakin ng kumakain
ng kahit ano ang kumakain
lamang ng gulay, at huwag
naming hatulan ng kumakain
lamang ng gulay ang kumakain
ng kahit ano, sapagkat siya’y
tinanggap ng Diyos.
4. Sino ka upang humatol sa utusan
ng iba? Ang Panginoon lamang
niya ang makahahatol kung
siya’y karapat-dapat o hindi.
5. May nagpapalagay na ang
isang araw ay higit kaysa iba.
May nagpapalagay namang
pare-pareho ang lahat ng araw.
Magpakatatag ang bawat isa sa
kanyang sariling pasiya tungkol
sa bagay na iyan.
6. Ang nangingilin sa isang araw
ay nangingilin alang-alang sa
Panginoon. Ang kumakain ng
kahit ano ay kumakain niyon
ay alang-alang sa Panginoon,
sapagkat nagpapasalamat siya
sa Diyos. Yaon naming hindi
kumakain ng lahat ng uri ng
pagkain ay gumagawa ng gayon
alang-alang sa Panginoon at
nagpapasalamat din siya sa
Diyos.
7. Walang sinuman sa atin ang
nabubuhay o namamatay sa
kanyang sarili lamang.
8. Kung tayo’y nabubuhay,
nabubuhay tayo para sa
Panginoon, at kung tayo’y
namamatay, namamatay tayo
para sa Panginoon. Kaya nga, sa
mabuhay o sa mamatay, tayo’y
sa Panginoon.
9. Bakit mo hinahatulan ang iyong
kapatid? Bakit mo hinahamak
ang iyong kapatid? Tayong
lahat ay haharap sa hukuman
ng Diyos. Sapagkat sinabi ng
Panginoon “bawat isa’y luluhod
sa harapan ko at ang bawat dila’y
magpupuri sa Diyos.”
10.Lahat tayo ay magbibigay-sulit sa
Diyos.
11. Huwag na tayong humatol sa
isa’t-isa.
Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage
Visits Our Lady of Light Parish
As part of the 25th Silver Anniversary Celebration of the Diocese, Our Lady
of Peace and Good Voyage visited our Lady of Light Parish. To honor the Virgin
Mary, there was a mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Vic Flores last July 19 at 5:00 p.m.
His homily stressed the importance of faith in Our Lady and in God, and to “do
whatever He tells you to do”.
The procession of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage came right after.
A miracle occurred when it stopped raining just as the crowd was exiting the
church. Devotees, along with a number of CCCians, marched on while reciting the
rosary (led by Arvin “Andeng” Alpanoso of IV- St. Rose of Lima). The procession
started at 6:00pm and went on a route that went through Parola, Estrella and
reached Marick Subdivision before going back to Our Lady of Light Parish at
exactly 8:15 p.m. for the final blessing and dedication.
HUWAG MAGING SANHI NG
PAGKAKASALA NG IYONG
KAPATID
(ROMA 14: 13-23)
1. Iwasan na nating tayo’y maging
dahilan ng pagkakasala ng ating
kapatid.
2. Walang pagkain likas na
masama; ngunit kung inaakala
ninuman na ipinagbabawal ang
isang pagkain, ito’y bawal nga sa
kanya.
3. Kung dahil sa kinakain mo
ay nasasaktan ang kalooban
ng iyong kapatid, hindi na
ayon sa pag-ibig ang ginagawa
mo. Si Cristo’y namatay para
sa kanya, kaya’t huwag mo
siyang ipahamak dahil sa iyong
pagkain.
4. Ingatan mong ang kalayaang ito
(ang mabuti sa ganang iyo) ay
huwag mapulaan ng iba.
5. Ang pagpasok ng tao sa
kaharian ng Diyos ay hindi
nababatay sa pagkain at inumin
kundi sa pagiging matuwid,
pagkakasundo-sundo at
kagalakan na pawang kaloob ng
Espiritu Santo. Ang naglilingkod
nang gayon kay Cristo ay
kinalulugdan ng Diyos at
iginagalang ng mga tao.
6. Pagsikapan nating gawin ang
mga bagay na makapagdudulot
ng kapayapaan, at
makapagpapatibay sa isa’t-isa.
7. Huwag ninyong ipahamak ang
iniligtas ng Diyos dahil sa
inyong pagkain.
8. Walang pagkaing likas na
masama; ang masama’y kung
magkakasala ang iba dahil sa
iyong kinakain.
9. Mabuti ang di kumain ng karne
o uminom ng alak o gumagawa
ng anumang magiging sanhi ng
pagkakasala ng iyong kapatid.
Ikaw na lamang at ang Diyos
ang dapat makaalam ng iyong
paniniwala tungkol sa bagay na
ito.
10.Maligaya ang taong di
sinusumbatan ng kanyang budhi
kapag ginagawa niya ang mga
bagay na inaakala niyang tama.
11. Ngunit ang sinumang kumakain
sa kabila ng kanyang pagaalinlangan ay hinahatulan ng
Diyos sapagkat hindi ayon sa
kanyang pananalig ang kanyang
ginagawa. Kasalanan ang
anumang gawang hindi ayon sa
pananalig.
PAMUMUHAYCRISTIANO
(ROMA 12)
1. Ialay ninyo ang iyong sarili
bilang handog ng buhay, banal
at kalugod- lugod sa kanya. Ito
ang karapat- dapat sa pagsamba
ninyo sa Diyos.
2. Huwag kayong umayon sa takbo
ng mundong ito.
3. Mag-iba na kayo at magbago
ng isip upang mabatid ninyo
ang kalooban ng Diyos- kung
ano ang mabuti, nakalulugod sa
kanya at talagang ganap.
4. Huwag ninyong pahalagahan
nang higit sa nararapat ang
inyong sarili.
5. Ang katawan ay binubuo ng
maraming bahagi at hindi parepareho ang Gawain ng bawa’t
isa.
6. tayo’y marami ngunit nabubuo

isa’t isa’y bahagi ng iba.

Guidance Conducts Orientation on Resiliency CCC HOLDS FOUR SUMMER TRAINING PROGRAMS
BY: Mrs. Lisa Napit
Academic Resilience is student’s ability to deal effectively
with academic setbacks, stress,
and study pressure. It has been
viewed that resilience is a factor
in one’s own success. Resiliency
theory proposes that most people
have some of each attributes of being resilient, but whether these attributes are strong enough to help
individuals cope with adversity in
their lives depends on protective
factors in families, communities,

That’s why on July 11, 2008, the Guidance & Counseling Center conducted orientation on Fostering Academic Resilience to First Year College
students. It was held at the Audio-Visual Room 1. The orientation has its
following objectives: To provide opportunity for active student involvement
through Peer Facilitation and group counselling and to provide a cooperative
learning among the students through peer tutoring. The Center would like
also to promote among teachers a non-judgmental, positive regard and caring
relationship towards students through information dissemination.
The counsellors believed that providing opportunities to become
meaningfully and productively involved and engaged in the school, students
will grow in to good psychosocial and behavioural adaptation despite developmental risk, acute stressors, or chronic adversities brought by study pressures.

As a response to R.A. 9258 or Guidance and Counseling Act, all the
guidance couselors attended the seminar/workshop on “Towards Integrated
Career Development Services”, sponsored by Career Development
Association of the Philippines (CDAP) last June 26-27, 2008. It was held
at the Adamson University. The seminar/workshop has its highlight on the
different Career Theories and its practice, which was an essential tool in
career development service of the Guidance Center. It also became a review
ground for all guidance counsellors present, since the schedule of the first
board examination for counselors is fast approaching.
The said event was well attended by counsellors from different schools,
colleges and universities from different parts of the country. One of the
resource speakers on the said event was Dr. Imelda Villar, president of
Philippine Guidance & Counseling Association.

Mothers’ Day as observed in the month of May, Our Lady of Light
Parish presented a show entitled “Harana Para kay Inay” featuring Justice
Joey Reyes, Mayor Mon Ilagan and Our Lady of Light parish priest, Rev.
Msgr. Arnel F. Lagarejos. This show was also organized for the completion
of Parish Formation Center.
The program started at 7:00 p.m. with the registration of all the attendees.
Everybody took first the dinner inside the canteen of Cainta Catholic College
then went to the church to watch the presentation.
Fr. Arnel Vitor gave the invocation and then Fr. Ondoy enlightened the
crowd by a very lively interpretation of the song “Gold”, a song popularized
by Spandau Ballet in the early 80’s. Ms. Rebecca Anonuevo, a famous writer
touched the hearts of the audience when she recited her own composition
dedicated to all mothers.
Mothers are gifts to be treasured so Mr. Jimmy Alcantara with Mrs.
Levy Cabigayan rendered “The Gift” by Jim Brickman. The song, “Because
of You” of TJ and Rex was dedicated to all OFW mothers. April Alvarez an
alumnus of CCC and brother Dino gave their best when they sang “Ikaw ang
Mahal Ko”.
Rev. Msgr. Arnel F. Lagarejos fascinated the audience in his own rendition
of “How Did You Know”, “What Matters Most”, and “Never Say Goodbye”.
Then Justice Reyes sang “Moon River” and “The Way You Look Tonight.”
Everybody gave a warm applause to Mayor Mon Ilagan when he sang “You
Raise Me Up” and”Ugoy sa Duyan” together with his daughter Nikki.
There were special raffles like trip to Baguio for two which can be
converted to cash and a brand-new Nokia cellphone.
Three mothers from Cainta received the following awards: Mrs. Victoria
Limpo, the Ina ng Buhay awardee (God gave her the gift of life- oldest mother)
Mrs Felicidad Cortez, the Ina ng Biyaya awardee (blessed with many children
and successful in their chosen fields), and Mrs. Esther Alcantara, the Ina ng
Pag-ibig awardee (survived all the trials in marriage).
Msgr. Arnel, Mayor Mon and Justice Reyes serenaded the awardees with
Barry Manilow’s medley.
Msgr. Arnel in his closings remarks thanked all those who attended
specially his two special guests and the Finance Council who organized the
presentation. For the finale, Msgr. Arnel and his two guests sang “Handog”.
What is R.A. 9258?
Republic Act 9258 or the Guidance and Counseling Act of 2004, is an act
professionalizing the practice of Guidance and Counseling, with implementing
rules and regulations. It has been filed many years before but it was only in
2004 when the law was passed.

First Eucharistic Celebration and Employees’ General Assembly for S.Y. 2008-2009
Held at CCC’s Pristine Practical Nursing Laboratory
BY: Ms. Cat Cerna
Our academe properly spearheads the new S.Y. through the Annual General Assembly of all teaching
and non teaching employees. It is during this time that all necessary matters are relayed and discussed upon,
all of which are for the betterment of the resources of the college like for instance, the physical and human
resources.
The first assembly for S.Y. 20082009 was held last June 6, 2008 at
the newly accomplished Practical
Nursing
Laboratory
(former
PACUCOA Room) facing the HR
and Clinic. As quoted from Mr.
Joel Javiniar’s Opening Remarks
subsequent to the mass, “…strengthen
the bond and live in communion and
mission”, as one big and participative
family, we started the day with
the Holy Eucharist solemnized by
Fr. Blaise Ma. Garcia, our college
chaplain. Timely enough with the
feast day of St. Norbert, the sermon
begun with relaying his status as a
very worldly man. Unknown to him,
God has good plans for him and it
was initiated when he was struck by
a lightning that made him realize so
many things including his pleasures
and vanities. When he recovered, he
vowed to lead a new life, ascetic and
sacred.
Fr. Blaise discerned that like
what occurred to St. Norbert, it may
also happen to us. At one point,
we maybe “poked” in the head to
make us aware. This is not a form
of punishment but a chance, an
opportunity given us to open our
minds with the realities within and
around us.
He also mentioned the theology
of names and human’s will of naming
strengths and weaknesses. The first
key to healing and restoration of
oneself is the ability to accept things
no matter how poignant they are.
Likewise, recognition of mistakes
done and working through it for one’s
positive transformation.
The Holy Mass ended with these
simple questions left to ponder on:
• What are my talents?
• What are my strengths and
weaknesses?
• How do I transform it?
The general assembly for
employees proceeded afterwards.
GRADE SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
WRAP-UP (General Assembly) CONDUCTS PARENTS’ ORIENTATION DAY
BY: Mrs. Cecille Cerezo
Good afternoon, Msgr. Arnel and everyone!
It is really a fact that having a general Assembly like this is very
necessary because it provides us the directions in our educational
mission as we go on our journey every school year. And as we heard
from Mr. Javiniar this morning, “This General Assembly is a way of
coming as a community whether Kapuso or Kapamilya where we
are informed of what to come ahead of us.
Like this afternoon, another
General Assembly has to be
concluded. We have heard from our
College President, Rev. Msgr. Arnel
F. Lagarejos, a very clear direction
of the path we are supposed to pass
through towards the end of this school
year, 2008- 2009, while laying down
with his Five Educational Thrusts
such as:Communion and Mission in
Evangelization: Nurture a vibrant
Catholic culture, Communion and
Mission in Academic Excellence
:Advance academic quality and
innovation, Communion and Mission
in Governance :Create committed and
collaborative leadership for institutional
development,Communion and Mission
in Financial Sustainability: Develop
stewardship and ownership of Cainta
Catholic College and Communion
and Mission in Social Relevance and
Responsibility: Build and maintain
linkages and community engagement.
In order for us to have clearer
understanding and directions, these
Five Educational Thrusts were
highlighted by the objectives, strategies

LCD monitors were purchased for
the ladderized BSCS. Six members
of the faculty who will teach the
courses participated in the Training
Methodology seminar-workshop and
were certified as competent in their
field and competent to teach (NC II
and TM I certified).
Provincial
Director
Velma
Salazar of TESDA-Rizal was
instrumental in the recognition of
CCC by TESDA. Her suggestions
during her visitations greatly improved
the success rate of compliance
to all TESDA requirements. She
even made it sure that CCC faculty
would pass the assessment done for
TESDA trainors. One of the TESDA
Trainings for Trainors (Training
Methodology I - TM I) was even
held here in our school last summer
so our faculty members can attend
and actively participate.
This coming November (Second
Semester) the Caregiver and Health
Care Services courses will begin.
With all these developments in the
history of Cainta Catholic College,
it is not a distant reality for CCC to
offer Nursing Education. Nothing
is impossible for a community of
Christ’s faithful in communion and
mission. The College President has
set his dream for CCC. It is ours to
take to fulfill it through our concerted
efforts. Congratulations to our alma
mater, Cainta Catholic College!

annual development plans for the year

On the other hand, Mrs. Vinluan
was tasked to present and explain to
us the new Table of Organization and
even made clear to us some personnel
policies to be strictly observed.
Mr. Javiniar, as V.P. for
Academics was assigned to give his
institutional clarifications on some
academic concerns and issues.
In essence, this General Assembly
has been called or to enhance our
school’s offered services and the
standard of each employee as we
journey towards this school year 20082009.
Therefore, we are now challenged
to know them by heart and understand
clearly so that we can support and
implement these advocacies. These
could only be fulfilled through our
active and selfless participation spiced
with proper communication and
coordination.
Again, a pleasant afternoon and
GOD bless us all.

Last July 16, 2008, the GS Department conducted an orientation
for parents. Classrooms became the venue of the orientation. The
adviser of each section facilitated the orientation while the Subject
Area Coordinators assisted them.
The main objective of having this orientation was to strengthen
the relationship between parents and teachers. Parents could easily
monitor the standing and learning progress of their children.
Election of officers took place and a short talk from those parents
being elected followed. The teachers recalled and discussed school
policies like wearing of complete uniform, attendance, CIE activities
(mass, recollection, retreat), project-making, securing promissory
note, others.
After the open forum, teachers distributed copies of the poem
“UNITY’ and read by everybody. The meeting ended at 6 o’clock in
the evening.
Unity
I dreamed I stood in a studio and watched two sculptors there,
The clay they used was a young child’s mind, and they fashioned it with care.
One was a TEACHER; the tools he used were books and music and art;
One a PARENT with guiding hand, and a gentle, loving heart.
Day after day the teacher toiled,
With touched that was deft and sure,
While the parent labored by his side
And polished and smoothed it o‘er.
And when at last their task was done, they were PROUD of what hey had wrought,
For the things they had molded into the child, could never be sold or bought.
And each agreed he would have failed, if he had worked alone,
For behind the TEACHER stood the SCHOOL,
And behind the PARENT, the HOME.

CCC Participates in “Humanae Vitae @ 40”
BY: Michael Valle, IV- AB-Rel Ed
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of “Humanae Vitae” (Human Life), one
of the encyclicals of then Pope Paul VI, a prayer-rally was held at the UST
parade grounds on July 25, 2008 ,Friday, dubbed as “Humanae Vitae@40:
Biyaya ng Buhay, Biyaya ng Pamilya.” Archdiocese of Manila and the
Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines- Episcopal Commission on
Family and Life (CBCP-ECFL) organized this event.
Lay and different religious people
from different parishes and catholic schools
participated in this prayer rally. Selected
students from Cainta Catholic College both
in High School and College department,
members of the Family Life Apostolate
Ministry headed by Engr. Lea Canivel and
some CCC teachers attended this event.
Pope Paul VI issued the “Humanae
Vitae” 40 years ago. “Humanae
Vitae” is an encyclical letter in
protection of the family and
the holiness of human life
against the expectations of
the material world. It was
indeed predictive. Since
then, the Catholic
Church exerted her
effort to fight against
artificial population
control, i.e., using contraceptives
and even abortion.
The prayer-rally also served
as a vessel to confirm the belief in
responsibility of life in the family
and a stand against the reproductive
health bill.
A concelebrated mass by
Manila
Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales; Jaro,
Iloilo Archbishop Angel Lagdameo who is
also the CBCP president; and San Fernando,
Pampanga Archbishop Paciano Aniceto,
Chairman of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference
of the Philippines- Episcopal Commission on
Family and Life (CBCP-EFL) was held before
the end of the prayer-rally.
Volunteers and staff of Pro-Life also
conducted a defense of life campaign
and distributed flyers on this
matter.

What Awaits for Our Country in the FUTURE?
BY: Mary Joie Cruz, IV- St. Aloysius Gonzaga
Don’t you feel tiresome of watching news in the television? The same news is delivered every night inside the
little boxes in our homes. Though there are different situations happening every day, most of these clearly point to
one thing, CRISIS.
Food shortage, tuition fee hike, oil and gasoline price hike, high crime rate and government corruption are some
of the problems that our country is facing nowadays. What is so depressing to hear is that most of the men in position
of power and authority do things that are contrary to the duties and obligations entrusted upon them. Regardless of
the fact they should be looked up as paradigms.
As a Filipino youth, a thought crossed my mind, “What awaits our beloved country in the future? Will it be the
same as today? Will it be better? Or will be what I fear the most, will it be worse?”
However, that is a question that neither of us can answer precisely. No one can tell what lies ahead for this country of ours. Nevertheless, there is only one thing that we can be sure of. We, especially the youth, are our country’s
light at the end of the tunnel. Jose Rizal, our national hero, said it himself that “the youth is the hope of the future”.
We will soon be the ones to decide what we want our country to be whether it maybe bad or good. It all depends on
us.
“If you think Rizal is right, prove it!”

A house and a home: We all know
there’s a major disparity between these
two closely-related words.
What is a house? An abode,
dwelling or a place wherein a human
being lives. Certainly we’re discussing
about the “structure” itself or the
physical formation of a certain building,
made by people’s Hardwork. These
can rise up to six floors, for the richer,
but for those unfortunate, a simple hut
will do. One thing that’s good thing
about houses are their forms, which
create a center of attention to people’s
eyes, only some, not all. It will be
more attractive if it’s big, wide, full of
rooms, marble-flooring and even with
high-technology features: automatic
garages, remote-controlled gates and
many others.
But what if the features of such
a house don’t have any residents? It’s
useless! A house without any people
will be so serene and lifeless. In other
cases, there’s a big house, with a
wealthy family as inhabitants, seems
perfect isn’t it? But what if that family
is full of predicaments, unable to solve
those, full of pessimistic emotions,
anger and envy. Where is the love?
How can you enjoy all your wealth
without love?
A home is a closely-related word
to “house”, but very different. We say
every time our family member or a
friend goes back home, we say “Home
Sweet Home”, it’s like music to their
ears! Home is where all the love is.
Home is where bonding and respect
are. There’s peace in every person
inside a home. How can you call a
house a home without love? Home is
the safest place in the world and the
place where a person’s life starts and
ends. If you have a problem, you are
returning to your only home, the place
to return to.
Above is the title of what you’re
reading now. You decide and answer
the question above: “A house and a
home, where’s the love?”
“Home is the safest place in the
world, a place where you belong and
you’ll never leave.”
Catholic Overpopulation in a
Non-Catholic Rice Crisis?
BY: Angela Loise V. Baser
Catholic overpopulation is the
favorite whipping boy of many
analysts. Its centuries of consistency
on the natural permissible maxim
that human life is a gift and for which
it deserves an unchanging value no
matter the mores of the times, the
Catholic Chruch stands once again
on the docket in what is largely a
trial by publicity. And it makes for
good economics.
The issue is the alleged rice crisis.
The basis of the denunciation seems
to be, as is usual, the monocausal
illicit that socio-economic woes are
caused by overpopulation-and from
the usual manner it is made to sound,
by no other factor- and because the
Catholic Church is staunchly against
artificial
contraception,
them
simplistically is to blame.
In this latest analysis that borders
on the bogus, the version has changed
but the logic has not, that there is
not enough rice to feed a population
that continues to burgeon because
the Church prohibits artificial
contraception. That is probably the
most naïve argument of the season.
To start with, is there truly
aq rice crisis that has doomed this
entire land of Mindanao? News says
there is. Life of the people in the
province, however, gives evidence
that there is none. At the most,
there are few lines that are mostly
panic-induced by a false idea that
rice is about to be exhausted. But it
has not. Nonetheless, score one for
the specialist there for effectively
causing those lines.
In a Manila, however, that is
stuffed at the seams with migration
from the provinces and thus has
lost the rural quality that we in the
provinces still have the pleasure of
possessing, the perception of a rice
crisis truly registers. Unlike the
provinces, Manila is possibly so
overpopulated with migrants that it
becomes easy to influence (impose?)
it’s thingking on the Filipino majority
that there truly are more mouths to
feed. Likewise, Manila’s punditthinking easily finds convenience in
punishing the Catholic Church for
it..
Demographic science, however,
does not agree. In truth, there
is a growing rise of artificial
contraceptive use across the Filipino
population. What that means is that
may Filipino Catholics, working or
supposedly otherwise, are increasing
not following the church teaching
against artificial contraception.
Given that real scenario, one can
surely expect the Catholic Church
to step up its cathechesis, even if
only one soul is left to care to listen.
Have we forgotten our knowledge of
scriptural accounts? The Church, in
fact, has always had this courageous
forbearance in the face of the
opposition and persecution. As we
all kno, it may even take martyrdom
to do so.
Anti-life advocates must expel
all their thoughts that the Church
will change one day and allow IUDs
and condoms and Depo-Provera
for all its faithful, married or
otherwise. If it does that, truth and
freedom will have to be redefined
according to, in the first place, the
relative conveniences of the times.
We can never guess what influence
for upcoming social mores will be
thought of next, for that is what
relativism is all about
So while we are engrossed in
the vogue of chastising the Catholic
Church for the rice crisis, the rest
of the world has passed us by and
has already found the answers. The
problem is not much production as
it is of distribution or discernment
dictated by the socio-cultural fabric.
It is a problem induced by profiteers,
by illicit repackaging, by deceitful
hoarders. In Vietnam, it is caused by
an unusually cold weather and pest
infestation- at least this is the only
production problem in the region.
But Vietnam being the second
largest rice exporter of the world,
the reverberation is understandable.
In other countries, it is caused
by a shift to biofuels such as corn
production to produce ethanol. Thus
boosting a demand for rice, not to
mention the temperatures of global
warming.
Rice is a cultural and social
clip more than it is agricultural, and
often wields a sociopsychological
weoght on society. The skyrocketing
price of rice in India, for instance,
are largely panic-induced. The
report of a new cartel governing the
rice market by the Mekong River
countries leaves us nothing to the
imagination that this was a knee-jerk
reaction so understandable in riceconsuming countries. It is a reality
of the culture of rice that the mere
prospect of its shortage, even of its
mostly perceived or induced, can
cause mass hysteria.
There is bounty of rice in our
country. The Catholic Church is
here to triumph.

Phenomena & Effects
BY: Patrick Angelo D. Juacalla, III- St. Albert the Great
A VIDEO: It shows different
kinds of certain actions, events
or even to the simplest things that
could have good and bad effects, in
which we simply identify or classify
them, ranging from politics and
advertisements to even a simple object
being captured. For others, making
these is just for fun, but some really
have goals.
Over these past years, videos can
be already uploaded or even shared on
the Internet. A popular website can
do those. As a matter of fact this site
can be heard from most of the people,
“YouTube”.
YouTube, being a video-sharing
website, of course many people
around the world will view this site,
as a matter of fact having 34 million
monthly viewers! This site features
videos created and uploaded by the
users themselves, and for a trivia,
65,000 videos are being uploaded
every 24 hours. Videos here mostly
lack in seriousness, some are serious
that includes terrorists and human
rights groups. Some are clips of
incidents that have something to do
with politics or document important
trends like corruption, global warming
and the like. Some videos reveal truths
but some are just propaganda.
In our country, YouTube became
the way of discovering Filipinos from
around the world. Who could not
forget the “talk-of-the-town” video
of the Cebuano dancing inmates,
especially their smash dance hit of
Michael Jackson’s hit “Thriller”?
What about Charice Pempengco
whom now, one of the newest singing
sensations? Do not also forget Arnel
Pineda, Madonna Decena (seen in
Britain’s Got Talent 2008), Moymoy
Palaboy and brother Roadfill who
show off their talents and admire by
other countries and viewers of this
famous website. Thanks to YouTube.
For every site, there are pros and
cons. The enclosure of public media
into our own entertainment and
information is more essential
than ever. If we consider these pros
and cons, we might be able to come

In Danger’s Way
BY : Angela Loise V. Baser
Why would TV anchorreporter Ces Drilon and her crew
place themselves in danger’s way
to interview the latest alteration of
the Abu Sayyaf bandit group? This
question, in various variations has
been raised since the first report of a
kidnapping circulated recently.
One variation is high-flown; it
all but blames the victims for the
crime, as though they had it coming.
It may be difficult to separate this
kind of thinking from the close
association, the Lopez-run ABSCBN Broadcasting Network has with
Lopez- controlled Manila Electric
Co. (Meralco), the country’s largest
power distributor. Indeed, some of
the firs text jokes- ah, yes, the classic
Filipino way of coping, updated
for the SMS generation- made the
connection explicit. The Lopez family
had ransomed Drilon and company,,
the basic joke ran; now the amount
will be added to Meralco’s billing
statements as system’s lost.
Unfair, of course, but the
Lopezes, ABS-CBN and Meralco
should know that it comes with the
territory. Other variations of the
question are genuinely searching:
They ask why journalists/reporters
should place their lives at risk in
chase of a story. Still others are
driven by political concerns. Isn’t
giving media access to terrorists and
bandits against the best interests of
the State?
Whichever way it is phrased, the
question demands an answer, and an
explanation. Drilon and company
would have their own answers; but
all journalists should be ready to take
on the question and offer an honest
response.
Even if this newspaper passed
on the chance to join the especially
arranged interview that turned into
or caused an abduction nightmare,
we share the fundamental assumption
behind the ABS-CBN decision- Some
stories carry great risk. Deciding
which risky stories to pursue is a
judgment call.
Necessarily, an explanation we
offer will seem to put the spotlight
on the journalistic profession—as
though the kidnapping of Drilon and
company, which includes professor
and advocate Octavio Ocampo, is
part o the complicated history of
Mindanao and thus of the Philippines
as whole.
That a barbaric outlaw group
like the Abu Sayyaf emerged oust
of the almostp-medieval poverty
of the provinces of Basilan and
Sulu, waving the colors of Islamic
fundamentalism, wrapped in the
mantle of Moro nationalism (and
protected, in its early years, by
the veil of collusion with military
elements) – this is a “story” that goes
beyond the storytellers.
But he question has, in fact,
been raised: Why put journalists in
danger’s way?
As a student journalist, this is
my answer:
The first answer is: Sometimes
there is no other way to get the story.
Reporters live by the basic rule that
evening were the penitential rites
and confessions held in Hyde Park
near St. Mary’s Cathedral. One of
the highlights of the week was the
Station of the Cross from St. Mary’s
Cathedral to the Opera House,
Sydney and was participated by the
youth.”
He then continued “On the
following days, catechesism sessions
were held. On July 19, there was
a pilgrimage walk from different
starting point converging in Randwick
Racecourse. Pope Benedict XVI
presided the welcome liturgy and he
also joined the evening vigil which
started from 7 to 9 p.m. at Randwick.
to have trust to help us classify facts
from lies. The millions of people from
around the world who are constantly
watching and correcting errors are
being supported by a technology that
is as open and universal as we are.

Discipline: The Very Word
BY: Ms. Cat Cerna
no story is worth a journalist’s life.
But we also realize that the weighing
of risk is not a scientific calculation
but an act of judgment. Every
journalist decision, then, carries
with it an appreciation of risk. Most
o the time the risk is insignificant or
minimal; sometimes they are great
indeed.
When the authorities ordered
journalists covering the Peninsula
Manila siege last year to vacate the
hotel, some complied and others did
not. The decisions were a compound
of the experience of reporters in the
field and the calculation of editors
or news directors in the newsroom;
each one was a judgment call.
The second answer depends on
the Lockean deal of a government
by consent of the governed. In this
view, information is a building
block of democracy. Much of this
information comes from government
or from institutions in society with a
quasi-governmental importance, like
the business community and in the
Philippines, the Catholic Church. But
other information comes from outside
the usual ways, and is sometimes
only accessible through the enterprise
work of journalists. It is crucial that
the public enjoys access to both kinds
of information. Most journalists do
not patrol their beat or go on special
assignments with enlightenment
philosophers discoursing in their
heads. Sometimes their stories do
help shape the informed consent of
the governed.

After sharing his blissful
experiences, he didn’t miss to
impart the message of the Pope to
the youth. According to him, “The
Pope gave emphasis on the need
to have a NEW PENTECOST,
meaning, the outpouring of the
Holy Spirit upon the young people
of the world.” Then he added,
“This was achieved to a certain
extent during the World Youth
Day 2008.”
“Our world has grown weary of greed, exploitation and division, of the tedium of false idols and piecemeal
responses, and the pain of false promises. Our hearts and minds are yearning for as vision of life where love
endures, where gifts are shared, where unity is built, where freedom finds meaning in truth, and where identity
is found in respectful communion. This is the work of the Holy Spirit! This is the hope held out by the Gospel of
Jesus Christ.”
-Pope Benedict XVI
Nothing seemed different
with news we encounter each day.
Media kept on dragging issues
about politics and economy.
The hubbub of corruption and
anomalies rage on while newer
concerns added in the scene like
for instance, whittling down of
basic commodity supplies (e.g.
rice and baking ingredients) and
indefinite fight for wage hikes
crazed our country.
After spending a humble
moment looking through the
papers, trying to find optimism
in the midst of all those written
notoriety, I came across an
article by Chito Chavez (Manila
Bulletin)
relaying
MMDA
Chairman Bayani Fernando’s
mission to promote discipline
in our society. It indeed gave a
shade of difference for discipline
appears to be less discussed by our
officials, who prefer to dwell more
on sensational and controversial
‘talk-abouts’, perhaps to succor
in adding up to their popularity.
Discipline is an integral part of
the human psyche and the society
collectively. Fernando dwelled on
that and made it the object for his
actions.
Aimed to teach rather than
merely
commanding
rules,
he was able to prove that our
countrymen are still open in
accepting change even without
force. I am not trying to raise
any political promotions here but
looking things through a wider
picture, from being an incumbent
mayor who helped modify what is
Marikina now to bringing these
acts to the Metropolis and nearby
localities, there was visible
change. One experience he shared
was when he went to Baguio and
upon seeing him by the sidewalk
vendors there, they scooted in all
directions, maybe in fear of being
caught up, a proof of his acts
being known by others.
How many ‘Fernandos’ who
uphold discipline can we find
anywhere? In our academe, there
should be and I believe there’s
more than one here. It doesn’t
mean that we should first hold a
position or be a head of an office
just to be like him, we can actually
just BE OURSELVES, uphold
and develop the values which
impact our discipline and become
crusaders in empowering others to
do the same. In such manner, we
may share in Fernando’s rosetta
stone to the demanding changes
occurring in our society and
share with his passion to make
the Metro livable, competitive
and on high with other countries,
though in our case, to apply it to
CCC.
Cont. from p.2 18th Catechetical Seminar-Workshop
A cultural night highlighted the event. Luzon group presented an
interpretative song entitled, “Tayo Na Sa Antipolo.” The Visayan group
showed song and dance number and a special rendition of “Pandanggo Sa
Ilaw.” The Mindanao group portrayed a theatrical-comedy presentation of
the Seven (7) Capital Sins. The night ended up with an ice cream treat for
everyone. Then, a Eucharistic celebration followed and the distribution of
certificates.
Parting messages to ponder:
• Catechists are called to proclaim and explain. They are called to reach and enrich people.
• Small things make people happy, make JESUS happy.
• Do not let temptations hinder you from fulfilling your mission.
• Use their culture to deliver the message of GOD.
• Start with your own JERUSALEM, from there, you will build experience after experience, success
until you fulfill your mission.

Cool Water Spot
Up North
About one and a half hour drive from Cainta, this water spot
can be found at Brgy. Ulingao, San Rafael, Bulacan. Along the way,
plains of rice and corn crops rolled by, captivating passing travelers.
Definitely not a typical sight for someone from the bustling city. This
resort boast of its state of the art facilities that won’t muddle your
senses into jumping over to other resorts once you get to this place. We
are putting the limelight on 8 Waves Waterpark.
8 Waves is proud to
uphold the title of being
the leading spot in this
province offering pools
of various features and
dimensions
that
are
especially rendered to meet
every client’s satisfaction.
These are the 469.87
sq. m. Kiddie pool with
Noah’s Ark slide, Three
(3) Hydro-jet Bubble pools
and a Lap pool. The highlight is a 2, 788.52 sq. m. Wave pool that
simulates the surging seas. The owners wanted to create an illusion
of the underwater and so, they came up with scenes depicting the
wondrous waterworld. Adding to these panorama are the official funky
mascots of the waterpark, Wavee and Surfee. Same with the people
employed there, you can never go wrong in approaching these two
newfound friends for they’re genial and really into picture takings!
Before going any further,
have you been wondering why
of so many numbers known to
mankind, why did 8 came to
the surface? Trivia to share
with you then. The co owners/
managers of the waterpark are
the 8 children of the owner
and the waves produced in
their famed pool consist of 8
formations particularly the Diamond Waves, Vertical Waves, Single
Rolling Waves, Double Rolling Waves, Inverted Waves, V-Waves,
Right Diagonal Waves and the Left Diagonal Waves. Indeed, this
number proved more than just a mark.
Going back now, this place is also at par with its handful of
amenities like the souvenir shop, ‘kikay’ stopovers, cafeteria, food
stalls, henna tattoo spot, sauna/massage, billiards, volleyball court and
playground. Visitors can choose from the following havens such as
the Bamboo huts, steel cottages & Pool umbrellas. For meetings and
gathering purposes, they also have a spacious function hall equipped
with necessary services. If you’re apprehensive with security, there’s
nothing to worry about because they do have a cottage pit stop with
security personnel. Some are roaming and checking around the place.
For health dilemmas, the clinic with such cartoonistic façade is always
open to everyone.
Lastly, if you’re not switched yet into swimming mode, just chill
out, relax and wait a while for the 8 Waves dancers and other performers
to approach the stage and
entertain. Disc jockeys are
also there to succor in spicing
up things with games and lots
of music.
Ditch a ride and see for
yourself!

“THE MAN BEHIND”
Through his Educational Thrusts, the rise for a
new and stronger VMG combined with his scrupulous
principle of maximalism and discipline, a new dawn
and another chapter in the history of CCC was created
and witnessed. Little by little, his very actions are being
transferred to us, challenging and continually motivating
us to strive toward our best.
He set himself as example and model for us to look
up to and in the process impart that burning zeal for

have remained wisps of smoke and heaps of dreams until

Our very own Mr. Joel C. Javiniar, VP for Academics and
College Dean, made it as one of the semi-finalists for the Sedes
Sapientiae Award for Outstanding Academic Administrator for
the year 2008. This award is given by the Manila Arcdiocesan
Parochial School Association (MAPSA).
Every year, MAPSA, thru its Human Resource
management and Development Commission gives recognition
to members of the academe (coming from its membership)
In different categories. For 2008, the award was for the

of Judges as the finalists; and from among them, the Grand winner,
1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th runners up. Nominees had to comply with the
basic requirements for nomination and had to undergo a battery panel

One of them was a CCC alumnus, Mr. Leoneil Comia Maranan, who did not just
pass the professional exam but more importantly, was able to garner 9th place
overall. Mr. Maranan was a consistent honor student during his CCC days and
earned his Bachelor of Arts (Public Administration) degree from the University of
the Philippines, Diliman. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Urban Planning
from the same university.
Congratulations to Mr. Maranan! You certainly made CCC proud for being
part of the elusive top 10 placers in professional board examinations.

Commitment Service
BY : Mrs. Erlinda L. Buenavente, Assistant CIE Coordinator
To be of the Lord’s community is a great privilege that brings with its
major responsibilities. Jesus tells us- “You are the salt for the earth. You
are the light of the world.”
Indeed, our commitment to the kingdom of GOD focuses on these
two important tasks: 1. To be a salt of the earth and to be light of the
world. Salt because we have it within our capability to add “flavoring’ or
“spice” to the lives of the people around us. And light because we owe it
to JESUS to reflect HIS light in word and acts of loving service.
A Commitment to Serve
All HIS life, JESUS was committed in helping people and caring for
their needs. The apostles followed HIS example and continued HIS works
through their loving service to the people.
As JESUS’ followers, we are expected to do what JESUS did. We
must be willing to serve our family members, school, church community,
neighborhood, and country. Only then, we can be rightly called true
followers of JESUS CHRIST.
As a teacher in Cainta Catholic College, I must follow what JESUS
taught about love, service, and humility so I can express my faith in GOD
through deeds of LOVE.
Let Me Be The Rain
BY: Hannah A. De Guzman
5- St. Boniface
Let me be the rain,
For a new life to maintain
Forget the dryness that need to be attain.
HE
BY: joLe
He is my leaning wall,
Who’s always there for me.
He owns the shoulders
That I always soak whenever I’m down.
Let me be the rain,
A friendship to gain
A relief of stress
Just let it drain
A boundless freedom
Destroying the chain.
He owns the arms
That wraps me tightly when I feel lonesome.
Let me be the rain,
Let me wash away our pain
The search of hope to regain
A gliterring smile, that needs to maintain.
He owns the ears
That never gets tired of listening to me.
He owns the home
That welcomes me always.
He is my one and only…Lord.
Inang
Bayan,
May Pag-asa Pa Kaya?
NI: Marco Antonio S. Rivera, II- St. Clement of Rome
Ang Pilipinas ay isang mala-paraisong lugar. Biniyayaan ng maraming likas na yaman at
magagandang tanawin.
“WISTFUL OBSCURA”
BY: Ms. Cat Cerna
Whirlwind of thoughts
Endless train of ideas
Swirled like white
Broke down into hues
And colors of various shades
A handful of hope
And wishful thinking
Blurred into sepia
And tones of blunder
Even through obscurity
Cast appears
To capture or inhibit
To show off or deaden
The reality of things
The acts of the mind

BY: Ms. Cat Cerna
Black faces, white faces
Preschool kids
College students
By June, they will sing
And march to its
tune…
‘It’s time to stretch
And wind to action!’
Clad in fresh uniforms
Binded new books
held by hand
People bustling and
jamming the school gates
Like cars on busy streets
Who could never imagine
Such a cheery scene
Once June sets in…
The opening of a new
school year!
Napanaginipan ko ang guro
At nagising akong umiiyak…
Binuhat niya ang crus
Sa kanyang balikat at
Nakita ko ang ulo niyang may koronang
tinik,
Ang mga madugong sugat at mga pasa
…hindi ko matiis ang sakit
Walang salita
Walang reklamo,
Sa tahimik,
Tinanggap niya ang lahat
Let me be the rain,
Profound love to gain
In a desert, it’s the joy to live in
The brightness of the sun appears again
Still your dreams too hard to restrain.
Sounds of good cheer
start to stir
Whistles of excitement
and anticipation
filled the air
It was because of the
coming of June…
the month of new
friendships abloom!

What
A Wonderful Place
BY: Maria Angellica D.C. Castillo
6-St. Camillus
Under the sea you can find
wonderful things,
You will find different fishes or you might
hear a mermaid that sings.
Deeper you go, the more you will know,
As you passed by, you can see whales
and sharks doing a show.
Above water you can see the
waves so calm,
And dolphin jumping and saying HI.
You can feel the fresh wind as it blew,
And seagulls t he sky as it flew.
At the shore you will find golden sands,
With a hidden, little treasures
not been planned.
Let’s all thanks GOD for this
wonderful place,
You can do that by a poem like this or a
prayer to say, THANKS.
Watching by the window
Scenes fading in and out
The skies turned from blue
to gray
The winds cooled and
swayed
The moment came again
for the summer rain!
Through the casement
A boy’s laughter shining
and waning
Drops fell from silver
to white
Potholes filled to the brim
Such a wonder it is for
the child to see!
The earth, once patch dried
Turned sipped and soaked
Washing away the filth
and listless facade
that enveloped all
All by himself, the boy
splashed and splattered
Mindless of the steady
downpour
Engulfed in the summer
rain!
The beauty of the summer
Rain!
Dahan dahan, tinignan niya ako
Ang ilaw sa kanyang
Likuran ay napakaliwanag
Kahit walang salita
Narinig kong sobrang linaw
“Come, follow me…”
“Rainbow”
BY: Patrick Angelo D. Juacalla
III-St. Albert the Great
Look out after the rain
You’ll see something unexplained
What you have is a stunning rainbow
It will convey you joy, not sorrow
You’ll witness seven shining colors
From red to violet, these will be yours
You will sense feeling of great honor
That you have never felt before
When you glimpse the color’s fusion
They’re just so pleasing to our eyes
You’ll never forget its appealing illumination
Your lips will open and say, “It is nice!”
It’s one of the greatest things ever made
With fulfillment and pleasure it cascades
More than that it adds splendor
The further you desire to explore
We’ll see more of nature’s beauty
Like a rainbow, it’s God’s bounty
Learn to love and care for His creations
And do not forget a great amount of appreciation

LOVE POEMS
Life Goes On
BY: Celine Marian Mesina
“LoveBY:Comes
to Everyone”
Mark Edward Fabrero
Everybody wants to give a comment
Because everybody knows this is a great moment
It is like a bell ring,
That will bring us to spring.
It also affects the nature
Because its everyone’s pleasure
A dove that brings food to the nest
But also brings mess.
MY
BIG LOVE
BY: Lara Camille Solomon
II- St. Clement of Rome
He was just an ordinary guy
With a big smile in his eyes,
And I’m an ordinary girl
Living in this lonely place.
One day we met each other,
And we smiled full of wonder,
Until he sat beside me,
And I felt surprise, my Almighty!
I never know I would fell in love,
With this simple guy I only love
No one would ever know,
Our love would suddenly grow.
How I wish we could be much closer, And my love would be much longer For this poem is just a gift,
For him that I only wish.
Soul of Mine
BY: Anna Dominique Igos
II-St. Clement of Rome
If the time has come
And I have to let go
Do not be afraid
To love again though.
And if I would die
Sweep the tears on your eyes
Just think of our past
And think on the brighter side.
Remember I’m on your side
Until the day you’ll unite
Your love that reached the sky
To someone you’ll love for life.
LOVE
Love is blind people do say,
Love may hurt you or give you dismay.
Love is special, love is great
But love can even make your heart break.
But for me, love is true,
Specially whenever I see you,
Because love for me is worth living
Every time I see you smiling.
LOVE for me is really true,
Because when I found LOVE
I also found YOU.
No one really cares,
No wants too find out
Not even you, my friend.
I have loved a man in my own dreams
But he just left me in a dark place
But the nonsense thing about me
Is that I loved him for my own sake.
I’m all alone here
Sitting in a chair
With shadows of sadness and fear.
She had to smile and had to laugh,
She had to cry and give enough,
Tears ran fast and pain got slow,
As she went on with the flow.
My soul is like a bird
In a cage without a key
Can’t fly for my own freedom,
Can’t love the man of my dreams.
What, how and why?
All those questions on my mind,
Answer me please. Help me.
She tried to think and tried to sleep,
She had fallen just too deep,
Life was harsh, she had said,
As she went back into bed.
My heart is breaking...
My soul is dying...
I just can’t help it,
This show of stupidity.
The HE came and hug me,
Gone all those hatred
Because HE said, “Do not be afraid”.
As tears have dried and heartaches fade,
She had forgotten the pain he made,
And as she said that the pain was gone,
She has proven that life goes on.

Hold

BY: joLe
EROS
BY: Hannah Villanueva
II- St. Clement of Rome
I’ve tried my best
To show it less
Though my heart is shouting,
I hold back and hide everything!
A knight who’s like a silhouette
A portrait in my dreams, I kept
He who has a gleaming smile
Bestowing solace in my gloomy days.
I’ve tried my best
To pretend I didn’t care
Though my heart is so concerned,
I hold back and hide everything!
Shall you live with me in reality?
And omit my own uncertainty?
Shall you embrace my disgraceful past?
And start a blissful journey.
I’ve tried my best
To pretend I wasn’t hurt
Though my heart is crying,
I hold back and hide everything!
I’ve tried my best
To pretend that I don’t feel anything,
But I guess my best wasn’t enough,
To hold back and hide that I LOVE YOU!
II-St. Clement of Rome
The times come when I call you
You just ignore me.
The times come when I need you
You’re not there to help me.
If only you can hear me and feel me,
I want you to know that somebody needs
you.
Somebody wants you, somebody dreams
of you
And I want you to know, that somebody’s
me.
How can I express my feelings for you?
How can I tell you that in my heart you’re
my you?
How can I show you my loveIf the love isn’t worth fighting for?
Maybe I have to face the truth
That I can’t be your love so trueThat one day I’ll have to move on,
And my life will finally go on.
Now grief is what inside of me,
This raging wrathful, myself can’t retain
Though my heart can be changed
If you’ll merely be the one who’ll renew the flame.
Don’t Leave Me
BY: Anna Dominique W. Igos
II- St. Clement of Rome
If someday you will leave
For your future’s will
Please let me know
When would you go.
Babe, I’m begging
Please don’t leave me…
Don’t leave me crying
My heart would be breaking.
If that day would come
I maybe out of my mind
And it’s because of love
I might die.
BY : Hannah Lei Villanueva
II- St. Clement of Rome
I’m a very stupid person
A very mischievous mistake
I am very curious about me
But I can’t do anything insane.
I don’t know why I’m here
If only I can shed a tear
But no, I can’t,I can’t.
Days she had were all in theme,
Talks she had were all about him,
She was happy and all was well,
Until the time she slipped and fell.
Oh, come to me, my lonely love,
Heal this longing that I felt
Cease the tears that I cried for him
Those nights I spent reminiscing.

Dreamy days and sleepless nights,

Memories
By: Hency Vilar
II- St. Clement of Rome
Did you really have to leave me?
Leave me alone in the dark
I’m alive but you’re killing me slowly
With memories that always comes back
This heart is shattered, torn apart
Bleeding profusely but beating still
While the girl you left behind
Still waits for you but in vain
Why am I just wasting my time
Chasing these made-up dreams?
Why do I want to wait for you?
When you think I’m already dead…

Reason
BY: ferErr0_#28
Stupid i may be for loving you
But i can't blame my heart because
ts just being true.
Every breath i take i think of you.
I really love you, i really d0
My friends say I'm crazy,
Crazy in fantasy, crazy in reality
They taught me to use my mind not
my heart,
Because they said that someday t
his heart will be torn apart
The law of love i had broken;
But what can i do, I've already fallen
They can't rescue me in this situation;
Because you are the only one who can
save me, my life, my inspiration
Crazy i maybe because you
don't know me,
I'm in love with a pers0n who's complete
stranger to me,
But my heart whispers you're my destiny.
My past, my future, my eternity.
They ask my reas0n f0r l0ving
you this way,
And these w0rds, i will always say,
"The n0rmal reason for having
this feeling for you,
Its the simple reason that my heart
belongs to you".
How
Can I Mend?
BY: Zarina Roselle Gonzales
IV- St. Aloysius Gonzaga
It breaks my heart
To know deep in my part
That everything is not enough
To make you stay in my life
What you said yesterday
On my mind it stays
To finish it all again
But how can i mend?
I’m begging you to stay
Every minute of every day
The scariest day happened
But how can i mend?
You said never to give up
That no matter what happened
It is us in the end
There will be no tears to be shed
I keep on reminiscing
All the memories are coming
But i keep on hanging
And it’s you that i’m missing
How i wish i could turn back time
Even though i’m pretending to be fine
Your voice is like a music in my ear
But when can i hear?
If only you knew how much i care
And all the pain i can’t bear
It’s you that i see everywhere
I want to end this nightmare
Life is so unfair
And i want to be shared
With the one i’m dreaming to be paired
I wish i could survive this dare.

INA
Kapag ako’y nakikita niyang nakayuko
Lumuluha at nalulungkot
Lalapitan niya ako sa aking sulok
At marahang hahaplusin ang aking buhok.
Kung may pagkukulang man ako,
O Nanay kong minamahal
Huwag mo akong kalilimutan
Nais kong habambuhay
Ikaw lang ang tatanglaw
Sa landas ng aking buhay.
Sa dama ng kanyang haplos
Ang kanyang pag-ibig sa aki’y natatalos
Sa kanyang yakap ay aking nadarama
Ang pagmamahal ng isang ina.
FRIENDS?
BY: Ranelyn D.C. Osorio
You make us very happy,
When we cry so sadly.
You help us in our studies at school,
That’s why we tell you that “Dad, your cool!”
After you work all day long,
We surprise you with a lovely song.
You’re like a rainbow that’s full of color,
That we always honor.
GUMISING ka kabataan!
Alam mo ba na ikaw ang pag-asa ng bayan?
Ikaw ang susi ng kahirapan,
Liwanag sa gitna ng kadiliman.
Then one day I am confused
I invited you but you refused
Maybe there’s something wrong
But I have to be strong.
TUMAYO ka, kabataan!
Lutasin ang kahirapan,
Kumilos, huwag magtamad-tamaran!
Ikaw ang kailangan ng INANG BAYAN.
I have to confront you
Coz’ it’s good to be true
Your reason that I never had a clue
Made me feeling blue
Iyong sipagan nang matamasa ang pinaghirapan,
Karunungan ay ipahatid sa mga nalalabuan
Ibahagi ang kapayapaan upang mahinto ang hidwaan,
Laging isaisip ang kapakanan ng INANG BAYAN.
Tell me! Tell me!
Why you have to leave me?
You said I’m too perfect
But is it enough for our friendship to be
wrecked?
Bago ang lahat ay iyong simulan,
Ang maging MABUTING estudyante ng bayan,
Upang ikaw ay tularan at magbigay karangalan,
At IKAW ang guguhit sa bagong KASAYSAYAN!
We are like a ballerina
Dancing with a harmonica,
We are flying like a swan
On the rainbow under the sun.
You said that is the problem
No explanation to be given
Coz’ I do not deserve a friend like you
But I like the way you are and that is true.

III- St Albert the Great
One whole, one half, one fourth
Folders long and short
Ball pens red and black
Writing activities back to back.
Research work in Science
Problem solving in Math
Essay writing in English
Leaving no time to chat.
Grade recitations today
Long quizzes tomorrow
Monthly examinations the week after
And a lot of notes to borrow.
Recess times and lunch breaks
Are most awaited by all
For it gives time to breathe
And prepare for the teacher’s next call.
Then the wondrous bell rings
Dismissal time has come
Friends say goodbye to friends
And then hurry back home.
More to Come
BY : Celine Marian Mesina
III- St. Albert the Great
I am now halfway through with high school
Well, these years have been so cool
So much hardships and so much pain
Yet much more lesson to attain.
There was love in the way
There were times I was in dismay
But still, it inspired me everyday
It made me what I am today.
There were friends who were crazy
Great times, I would guarantee
They were always here to stay
And with them, I’d be laughing all day.
Eat a little, and then study a lot
Writing homework answers until pen tips
get hot
Sometimes even going to bed late
But praying first for the next fate.
There were people who made me mad
There were those who made me sad
But with them I’d grow strong
I learned better about right and wrong.
Then the student wakes up early again
And prepares for school
Ready to face challenges once more
Striving hard not to be called a fool.
A lot of things had done
A lot of days filled with so much fun
But still there are still more to do
There are still things that are new.
There are more years to come
More times to see what I would become
More experiences to shape me
But for now, let’s just wait and see.

CCC Holds 1st Badminton Tournament
BY: Mr. Andy Arcilla
Cainta Catholic College – Faculty and Staff recently held its 1st CCC Badminton tournament
last May, 2008, at the school Badminton Court, old Auditorium. It was a month-long tournament of intense
competition, fun and excitement.
With its success, CCC has extended the activities and makes it beyond the usual college’s wellness program
to more than hanging out with fellow members. This was a big challenge to the group because it was the first
time to hold such an event. With the cooperation and team spirit of the pioneering group who first initiated it,
with Rev. Fr. Blaise, the School Chaplain, the event went on as expected. Over-all, it was a SUCCESS!
