Race organisers from Somerset County Council hope people will make the most of the event, taking in the spectacle of the cycle race and, perhaps, enjoying an extended holiday in the region. A study of the economic impact of last year’s Tour of Britain found that the South-West stage generated £1.9m for the region. Frome Town Council - making Frome a better place Unsolicited testimonials 22 Sept Dear Mrs Wilthew First things first. May I say how much both me and my family enjoyed all the celebrations for the Tour of Britain you put on last week, thank you to you, and the team behind you for a memorable 2 days. I would like to suggest that this becomes an annual event. I realize that the Tour of Britain may not come back for a while, but Frome and surrounding area have an abundance of locally grown cycling talent both on and off road, a very enthusiastic sports following in Rugby, Football, swimming and hockey. An event like this would encourage people both young and old to get involved in sport and other fitness activities. I realize that being so soon after the last event you may not have recovered from the stress of last week, but if you feel there is mileage in an annual event, I would like to put my name forward to help in any way I can.
