Time sure does fly! Summer is over and we are quickly approaching the Holiday
Season. We are wrapping up a couple of final projects for the year. Johnson
Controls has completed the overhaul of one large Trane chiller; this should
extend the useful life of this chiller by five to seven years. We also upgraded
the CCTV security camera system and have added three more cameras to the
property to increase security. The theatre demolition is in progress and should
be completed by mid October. At that point the space will be turned over to the
new tenant, Honolulu Surgery Center so that they can begin their construction.
We would like to thank everyone in Building 1 for their patience and cooperation
throughout this process.
We have had a flurry of leasing activity in 2009 which has kept us very busy. New
tenants include Pitney Bowes and Universal Property and Casualty Insurance in
Building 3 and The Department of Veterans Affairs (Teleradiology) and Vascular
Access Hawaii in Building 7. Other new tenants on the horizon include Citizenship
and Immigration Services, US Coast Guard, Small Business Administration and
FBI all of whom are projected to move in March 2010. The Honolulu Surgery
Center’s anticipated move in date is sometime next fall. With all this leasing
activity brings construction of the new spaces so please bear with us as we go
through this transformation process.
With school resuming soon and other indoor gatherings on the rise in the coming
months, public health agencies are anticipating an increase in cases of the H1N1
Flu Virus, commonly referred to as Swine Flu. Due to this, a more rigorous
disinfecting schedule has been implemented to the more frequently touched surfaces
that include elevator call buttons, hand rails, door handles and light switches.
Areas include restrooms, lobbies, lunchrooms and conference rooms. Pacific Office
Management and our janitorial contractors continue to strive to take precautionary
measures to keep our tenants and buildings safe. Previously we had switched the
hand soap in the lavatories to antibacterial soap. In the coming weeks we will also
be installing hand sanitizer stands in each building ground floor lobby.

This year Waterfront Plaza celebrated ‘Bring Your Pets To Work’ Day on the
front lawn of the property. Throughout the day we saw pets walking through
the complex, enjoying a day at work with their owners. If you weren’t able to
