YET. SOME WE JUST LOSE INTEREST IN, AND OTHERS, WE JUST
CAN’T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO FINISH. THESE ONES ARE USUALLY
THE MORE INTERESTING LOT. WE RARELY KNOW WHERE
THESE EXPERIMENTS ARE HEADED, BUT WE ALWAYS FOLLOW
THE RESULTS WITH INTRIGUE

M ugging K andura
Done in just a little over four weeks time, this process-led design project
emphasizes on experimentation and making. The quartet asks themselves
the question of reinterpreting what a handle is for t wo of their cups.
The project also acts as an idea generator, producing new techniques
and glaze recipes for further development and use.

"What if " is a loose reinterpretation of kandura's archive of work, for this project
the quartet recombines,reassembles, recompose, reformulate, rematerialize and
reconsider their archive of ceramic tableware pieces into new objects.
Objects that are yet to be interpreted themselves.

T he T est P ieces
This project is a journey of glazing emphasized designing-making process.
Experiments in dipping, spongeing, brushing, spraying, and applying glazes
to the pre-fired design pieces are all done in a 2 week period. This resulted
in 300 pieces of uniquely glazed pieces : not quite one off pieces,
but not quite our usual small batch production pieces either.

The Designer Dispatch Ser vice is a programme by the Indonesian Ministr y of
Trade which we were involved in. We went to the island of Lombok to work
with traditional potter y villages using their oil burnished terracotta
technique as the starting point of design.

ClayDay is our one day introductor y workshop to working with clay. It’s for
ever yone, and we mean ever yone. Our past clientele includes 5 year olds,
product designers, housewives, bank clerks and many others.

AND GHIA, WITH NURI JOINING IN 2010. WHAT STARTED AS
A POTTERY STUDIO LATER TRANSFORMED INTO A PLATFORM
FOR THE QUARTET TO MATERIALIZE THEIR IDEAS. THE STUDIO'S
WORKS RANGES FROM TABLEWARE COLLECTIONS FOR
RESTAURANTS, WALL TILE REPLICAS FOR A MUSEUM, TO
INSTALLATIONS FOR A BIENNALE.
