Manth Brownell - National Grid
Large Business Program Manth Brownell Manth Brownell Located in Central New York, Manth Brownell is one of the largest manufacturers of precision machined parts in the Northeast. Since opening its doors in 1951, Manth Brownell serves other manufacturers in a variety of industries including firearms, automotive, cable TV, fluid power, microwave, appliances, and utilities. Energy efficiency solution • Two variable speed drives air compressors The result: Total Project Cost $139,651 National Grid Incentive $42,810 Cost to Customer $96,841 Annual kWh Savings 310,477 Annual Cost Savings $30,287 • Two 660 gallon storage tanks • Two quick response regulators • High efficiency air dryer • 360 T-12 fixtures to T-8 fixture upgrades Savings summary Compressed air is invisible and very expensive. If you can’t see it and it costs you money, it is important to measure. Manth Brownell was encouraged to do just that. By looking at the usage throughout the plant, design measures were recommended to include a variable speed compressor set, engineered storage, and the ability to lower the pressure to each distribution network, without sacrificing performance. The net effect was to balance the supply of flow of compressed air with the actual flow that the system demands. Reducing flow of compressed air reduces the power required to compress the air. This produced the significant savings seen at this plant. Strategic Partner D&W Diesel, Inc. 1503 Clark Street Road Auburn, NY 13021 Kirkville, NY “The National Grid Energy Efficiency program has enabled our electrical usage to power our compressed air and lighting systems to decrease significantly. Our business is up 30% in the period since these measures were implemented. We are extremely pleased with the savings and very impressed with the no-nonsense approach that our National Grid representatives take toward assisting us to achieve these results!” —Wesley Skinner, Manth Brownell 1-800-787-1706 | [email protected] | www.nationalgridus.com/LargeBusiness EE5525 Manth Brownell (10/13)
