Internet connection via WLAN to access the Car-Net services
Dear driver.
This leaflet explains what you need to do to
connect your infotainment system to the
internet via a WLAN (wireless local area
network) connection so you can use CarNet services inside your Volkswagen.
However, this information does not
describe all functions, and therefore cannot
replace the owner’s manual accompanying
the vehicle which contains additional
important explanations and warning
instructions.
Car-Net: in brief
Car-Net is an optionally available package of online services designed to offer enhanced
safety and convenience behind the wheel. With information constantly synced with the
internet, finding a parking spot and avoiding jams is easier than ever.
Different Car-Net services may be offered in different countries to specific conditions and
the range may also vary from one model to the next.

With this method, the internet connection is
provided not by the infotainment system
itself but, for example, by a WLAN hotspot
linked to your mobile phone. Your phone in
this case functions as a modem and the
infotainment system is the “client”. **
