The 2013 IMATS L.A. will be held in January (previous shows had been held in June). And it will coincide with the 100th issue of Make-Up Artist magazine, which produces IMATS. Weekend events will include a new documentary screening, the unveiling of a new creation by artist Kazuhiro Tsuji and an anniversary party. IMATS keynoters include Oscar-winning make-up effects artists Tami Lane (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) and Howard Berger (Hitchcock, Oz: The Great and Powerful). Beauty keynoter Joanna Schlip is a fashionindustry veteran whose work spans runway to WHAT: International Make-Up Artist Trade Show red carpet to major brand campaigns. Christina WHEN: Pro-Card day 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. Applegate, Eva Longoria and Laura Linney are 18; followed by Pro-Card evening among her celebrity clients; she has done print for event. Public hours 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. H&M and Victoria’s Secret and commercials for Saturday, Jan. 19; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. CoverGirl and L’Oréal. Her work has appeared Sunday, Jan. 20 2012 in Vogue and on the runways for Chanel and Versace. Stila Cosmetics, meanwhile, stages its popular WEBSITE: imats.net runway make-up show. And as always, make-up companies will unveil new products and tools and offer discounts at the show. A make-up effects room is returning to Exhibit Hall Two. There you’ll find industry leaders doing live demos, plus movie and TV creations in the Make-up Museum. That hall will also be home to the Battle of the Brushes student make-up competition, where international make-up students race to create winning looks. This year’s new beauty-category theme is The Elements; the character-category theme is Oz. IMATS will open with the Make-Up Artist Pro-Card day, held 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, followed by a special Pro-Card event that night. A short documentary on Tsuji, created by Juliet Landau and Deverill Weekes, will debut at the evening event, along with the unveiling of a new Tsuji creation made specifically for IMATS. Public hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20. The anniversary party will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 and is open to IMATS attendees.
