Welcome to learning at its finest! The Melton Travel Seminars have long been hailed as exceptional adult educational programs. Born out of the scholarship of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, our programs represent the most comprehensive, multi-layered and rewarding touring seminars in the Jewish world. TRAVEL SEMINARS I’m a meltonian Wandering seminars for the wondering Jew WRESTLING WITH THE ANGELS June 8-18, 2015 (with Louisville, KY) June 22-July 2, 2015 Oct. 26- Nov. 5, 2015 (with Springfield, MA) The natural choice for your first seminar with Melton—even if you have visited Israel previously—providing new depth and understanding. The seminar takes participants along a 3,800-year timeline of the land and its narratives, from the world of Abraham to contemporary Israeli society. A variety of texts serves to bring the sites alive and provide an opportunity to explore pivotal moments in the history of the Jews in the land of Israel. BIBLICAL IN-SITES March 9-19, 2015 The seminar begins on the Monday after Purim, so you may want to consider coming in early to celebrate, or simply joining us for the seminar itself. This is a one-of-a-kind experience for all those who love Biblical stories, from Avraham through to the Megillot! Almost all our sessions are held at the sites related to in the text, so that reading the text on site takes on a whole new meaning. S P A IN & IS RA EL April 19-30, 2015 Iberia served as the setting for one of the most remarkable chapters in Jewish history: that of Sefarad, embracing tragedy and creative powers alike. The great poets, thinkers and statesmen of Sefarad help raise critical questions for us: when do the Jewish people flourish? What ties do we have as a minority with the surrounding cultures? What happens when Jews are themselves a majority culture? The seminar explores these issues, both in southern Spain and in Israel. P O L A ND & IS RA EL July 12- 23, 2015 At the start of the twentieth century, Poland's Jewish community was the greatest in the world. This seminar visits a number of pivotal locations in Poland and Israel, tracing the outlines of a critical chapter in the history of the Jewish people through to the Shoah and considering its central role in the development of the Yishuv (Palestine) and the State of Israel. For centuries, during both Imperial times and the Renaissance, Italy was at the center of European development, and even until the Second World War modern Italy offered its Jews a place in its burgeoning political life. The seminar examines Jewish life inside Europe’s greatest empire. *call us E D U C A T I O N A L E X P E D I T I O N S 888.811.2812* www.meltonseminars.org Call Melton toll free: U.S.A. 1-877-729-2805 | Canada 1-866-786-7718 | U.K. 0-800-056-9556 | Australia 1-800-008-094 | Elsewhere +972 2 588 2087
