• Complete all gifts by December 31 to qualify for
tax savings on this year’s tax return.
§ If mailing a check, it must be postmarked
by the post office no later than December 31
to qualify.
§ Online credit card donations must also be
processed before midnight on December 31.
• Keep all receipts and acknowledgement letters,
especially for gifts of $250 or more.
• For increased tax benefits, fund your gifts using
stocks that are worth more than you paid for
them and that you have owned for more than
one year.
• Special benefits can come from gifts of
retirement plan assets.

The fascination of caves is something
that is neverending. Humans have been
exploring caves for more than 500,000
years. They were first used by early man for
shelter, as a source of medicinal minerals,
ceremonial rituals, revivals, hideouts for
outlaws, and even to distill moonshine.
During the Spanish-American and Civil
wars, caves provided a critical source of
saltpeter – a key ingredient in making
gunpowder.
