I am Resurrection and I am Life, says the Lord.
Whoever has faith in me shall have life.
even though he die.
And everyone who has life,
and has committed himself to me in faith,
shall not die for ever.
As for me,I know that my Redeemerlives
and that at the last he will stand upon the earth.
After my awaking, he will raise me upl
and in my body I shall seeGod.
I myself shall see,and my eyes behold him
who is my friend and not a stranger.
For none of us has life in himself.
and none becomeshis own master when he dies.
For if we have life, we are alive in the Lord,
and if we die, we die in the Lord.
So, then, whether we live or die,
we are the Lord's possession.
Happy from now on
are those who die in the Lord!
So it is, says the Spirit,
for they rest from their labors.
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Let us pray.
O God of graceand glory, we rememberbefore you this day our sister Ruth.
We thank you for giving her to us, her family and friends, to know and to love
as a companionon our earthlypilgrimage. In your boundlesscompassion,
consoleus who mourn. Give us faith to seein deaththe gate of eternal life, so
that in quiet confidencewe may continueour courseon earth, until, by your
call, we are reunitedwith thosewho have gonebefore;throughJesusChrist
our Lord.
The Liturgy of the Word
A Readingfrom the Book of the ProphetIsaiah
The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, becausethe LORD has anointedme; he has sent
me to bring good news to the oppressed,to bind up the brokenhearted,to proclaim liberty
to the captives, and releaseto the prisoners;to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor,
and the day of vengeanceof our God; to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those
whomourninZion-- togivethemagarlandinsteadof
of mourning, the mantleof praiseinsteadof a faint spirit. They will be calledoaksof
the planting of the LORD, to display his glory.

The LORD is my shepherd;*
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in greenpasturesl*
he leadethme besidethe still waters.
He restoreth my soull *
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his Name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; *
for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemiesl *

Surely goodnessand mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, *
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
The Holy Gospelof our Lord JesusChrist accordingto John.
Glory to you, Lord Christ.
Jesussaid,"Do not let your heartsbe troubled.Believe in God, believe also in me. In my
Father'shousethereare many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I havetold you
that I go to preparea place for you? And if I go and preparea place for you, I will come
againand will take you to myself, so that whereI am, thereyou may be also. And you
know the way to the place whereI am going." Thomassaid to him, "Lord, we do not
know whereyou are going. How can we know the way?" Jesussaid to him, "I am the
way, and the truth, and the life. No one comesto the Father except through me."

Our Father,who art in heaven,
hallowedbe thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespassagainstus.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
