The Daily Grind — Lifestyle and News
Editor’s Comments By Jemel Williams fee. Everyone seemed to smile and were happy. This is a three star restau
rant, and I recommend it to everyone. I then decided to visit the new Sierra Grill in Auburn on Highway 49. I had ham, eggs and potatoes. They were de
licious. There is a juke box that plays Johnny Cash, George Jones and Conway Twitty. There is a bar here but it did not open till later. They serve Heineken, however, I drink O’douls. They have a pool table here too. The service and food was delicious, I rate this as a three star restaurant, and recommend it to my friends. Hi, it’s me again, “Ms. Editor”, Jemel Wil
liams. This issue of The Daily Grind will be our springtime spectacular, and will feature a crafting article, a review of the new Southside Ensemble album “Reflections”, and many stories. We are also very happy to announce that artists from Southside Auburn have joined the writing staff of The Daily Grind. As al
ways, feel free to submit suggestions or comments on any articles that are in the newsletter. Out and About By Gary Compani Personal Safety Tips By Debbie Bunyard Tip #1 Make sure you check the smoke This is my review of Sierra Grill #1 in Auburn. I had a steak and eggs dinner for $6.99. It was delicious. Marvelous service from the man who waited on me, and the waitress who wasn’t wear
alarm in your house at least once per month and change the battery once every year. It is also a good thing to make a fire escape plan so that every
one in your home knows where they can exit the home and meet in case of an emergency. Tip #2 When leaving the house, make sure all the doors are locked to prevent unwanted people from entering your home. If you are gone for more than a couple hours, be sure to keep a light on in your house to make it look like some

“Reflections” By Paul Boon and Jemel Williams We, the Southside Ensemble, will be releasing our newest album later this month. This new album will be our sixth album we have released. The album con
tains songs we have written. The art work for the al
bum was also created by us. The inspiration for the songs on the album came from things that we find in
teresting, or have experienced. We hope to be releas
ing more albums in the future, and produce music videos. This album was the last album featuring our fellow musician, Paul Swinton. We miss him very much. The song on the album that most that stands out is “Funk Animals”. The inspiration for this song came from thinking about wild animals stomping around in the wild, and from our love of funk music such as, Parliament and Bootsie Collins. We hope to be out performing various places in the community very soon. Expressing the Moment By Wally Phillips SSAC Auburn By Terssa Sawyer SSAC Auburn 3

Crafting Lesson: Cell phone or iPod tote By Debbie Bunyard Time to make: 12 hours for the bag, a day or two for the strap. Tools you will need: Knifty Knitter Flower Loom, Knifty Knitter Spool Loom, Knifty Knitter Hook, a yarn needle and yarn of your choosing. Make the bag by using the flower loom. Begin by wrapping the yarn around the peg on the side of the loom and wrap the first 8 pegs going back and forth to make the flap of the bag. The flap should be 3”4”, it is up to you. You will be using the bottom over top stitch style for this entire project. After making the flap, wrap all of the pegs of the loom and knit them off until you have 18 rows, then saw the bag off the loom and close the bottom of the bag. To make the strap for your bag, you will need the spool loom. To begin using the spool, loom drop the strand of yarn down the cen
ter of the loom and wrap all of the pegs using the same bottom over top method as used when making the bag. The Sacramento Kings By Chris Hogan name of the show is 'The Penguins of Madagascar. This wildly popular com
puteranimated TV series has been on TV since it first aired in March of 2009. What I love about the show are the characters and the actors who play them. Every episode I have watched so far has been so much fun for me, and I never get tired of watching. This show has recently been released on DVD which I purchased after it came out. I cannot believe how popular the show is right now. I just love it! I’m Chris Hogan, and the Sacramento Kings are my favorite sports team. They are playing tonight and they are going to win! Seems like my favorite players are always getting traded, like Mike “Thirty Nights With a Highland Husband” Bibby, and Kevin Martin. I really like Paul Westphal, the team’s coach. The Kings are the stars of basketball; Go Kings! My friend Susan Burton is a sea
son ticket holder, She sits with friends on the 2nd level next to the bar. Susan’s favorite player is #13, Dante Green, She says, “he’s fast on the court ,that’s why I like him”. So as far as basketball goes, we are true Kings Fans. By Mary Thornsberry Thirty Nights With a Highland Husband is the story of a woman who is ask to ac
company a man to Scotland in the year 1272. He asks that she marry him and he will return her home to her own time. There is just one little catch; in or
der for the marriage to seem binding, she must spend thirty days with him. Present day, Caitlyn Coryell is a young woman about to get married. But when she catches her fiancé’ cheating on her, she is furious and considers calling off the wedding. Being the creep that he is , he tries to blame the whole thing on her, saying she has no sense of adven
ture. So when a man wrapped in a green light appears in Caitlyn’s bedroom and “The Penguins of Madagascar”

Nine out of ten places have a lake. Really, one lake, one big one should have been enough. Their names sound like presidents. Fillmore, Washington, Lincoln, Madison, Harrison. The towns have names that are harder to spell cor
rectly, then they are to navigate. On their own the ocarina songs are puz tells her he needs her help Caitlyn, she thinks to herself, “I’ll show him I have no sense of adventure!” and agrees to his request. Scotland 1272. When Conner MacKier
nan learns that his sister Mairi MacK
iernan has been placed is an arranged marriage to a horrible man he will do anything to stop the wedding from hap
pening. The only way to make that hap
pen is for him to marry in order to be released from his service to the King. When Conner learns that by bringing Caitlyn to the past, he has put her life in danger Conner makes an oath to keep Caitlyn safe until he can return her home. Thirty Nights With a Highland Husband is the first of six books written by Melissa Mayhue, her stories are full of magic, myth, romance and humor. She is one of my favorite authors and I hope she writes many more books! “The Ocarina of Time” zling. Ever hear of four, four time? Stee
ple chasing, just to get one horse, wasn't really worth it. The guy asks for double the horses worth. Fifty thousand gold, for a two hundred dollar animal, that’s nuts. The game play over all is solid. Its graphics are clean, and the story has substance. By James Hamaker The Ocarina of Time is one of the more puzzling games in the Legend of Zelda series. The temples have over fifty com
binations, for their countless puzzles. Each one requiring the deepest amount of concentration. Link has to spend his quest time playing an ocarina to unlock parts of puzzles within the world itself. 6

“True Blood” When a string of murders happen in town, people are even more against Bill when they learn that all the victims are Fang bangers, people who like getting bit by vampires. But when a murder takes place while Bill is in town people begin to suspect it’s a local. This show contains some bad language, some mild love scenes and a little bit of gore. It also has action, romance and mystery and it will leave you on the edge of your seat begging for more! By Mary Thornsberry Created and produced by Alan Ball, True Blood is the story of what life would be like if vampires were to make themselves known or “come out of the coffin” as it’s known in the show. True Blood centers around Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) a young woman with telepathic abilities who works as a waitress at a bar called Mer
lotte’s. When Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) walks into the bar everyone is at a loss for words at the sight of Mer
lotte’s first vampire. Everyone except Sookie is fascinated when she discovers she can’t hear Bill’s thoughts. There are few people in town who are not happy that Sookie is falling for a vampire, in
cluding Tara (Rutina Wesley) Sookie’s best friend and fellow employee at Mer
lotte’s, Sam (Sam Trammell) Sookie’s boss and owner of Merlott’s, is jealous that Sookie would choose a vampire over him. Sookie however finds out that Sam has a secret of his own. Sookie’s Brother Jason (Ryan Kwaten), the town troublemaker, is completely against the idea of his sister dating a vampire. Martina McBride By Joe Siciliano Hi, my name is Joe Siciliano and I am a huge country music fan. My favorite country music artist is Martina McBride. She has been a country singer since 1992, which was the year she re
leased her first album titled ''The Time Has Come''. She released a new album called ''Shine'' in 2009. I went on a trip to Nashville a long time ago and saw her singing on stage, but I didn't get to meet her. I have all of her albums, except for her first one. I love her voice so much because it's just beautiful and she really knows how to hit a high note. That is why I am a big fan of her and her music. I never get tired of listening to her, and my foster dad is very proud that I love country music as much as he does. Yee haw! 7

When Jake learns that the very solders that he works for are planning war against the Na’vi, Jake, Neytirri and the Na’vi must fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.
