INTERNATIONAL
Brazil
2017 TRIPS
Cost: $2150 – approximately 9-10 travel days
Leader: Mr. Dale Schilling
Number of students: 8-14
Travel with us to Atibaia, Sao Paulo, Brazil where we will be
meeting the principal and students from the Escola
Internatcional Preparando Geracoes (EIPG). Students and
teachers there will serve as our host families as we travel
with them to serve the community with a “Vacation Bible
School” type of program. Students will be immersed into
the Brazilian culture where Portuguese is the native
language. Schools are on “Summer Break” during January – haven’t you
ever wanted to go to Brazil for summer break in January? This very
special school collaboration is being planned in a local community that
needs the Gospel. Our ministry will include music, sports, arts, English
classes, and much more as we work together with EIPG students and
parents. We believe these days will be a blessing to all involved and a powerful way of sharing the Gospel.
Atibaia (or Estancia de Atibaia) is a Brazilian city located in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The name is derived
from an indigenous language called Tupi, and means “healthy water river”.
In addition to a passport, students are required to have a visa to travel to Brazil, contact Mr. Schilling for
details.
Dominican Republic – Doulos Discovery School
Cost: $1500 – tentatively January 1-8
Leader: Mrs. Fullerton
Number of students: 8-24
Join our service-learning trip to the Doulos Discovery School in
Jarabacoa, DR. Doulos is one of the three International Christian
Schools with whom CVCA partners for short and long term exchange
programs. We will be staying in local villas that are walking distance to
the school and will spend each morning on campus interacting with 1st3rd grade students running a "Christmas VBS Camp" experience. In the
afternoons we will do light maintenance on campus, serve the local
community through a local evangelical church, and enjoy the gloriously
verdant mountains via hikes to Jiminoa Falls, Pico Escondido (a Young
Life Camp), and a local coffee farm.
El Salvador - Love & Hope Children’s
Home
Cost: $1500 – tentatively January 1-9
Leader: Mr. Dan Larlham
Number of students: 8-10
Love and Hope Children’s Home in El Salvador is operated by
two CVCA alums, Rachel (2001) and Justin (1998) Klubnik.
This is a life-changing opportunity to see and serve on the
mission field as well as experience a culture different than
ours. The people, specifically the kids at the home, are the
biggest draw. Other highlights will include a trip with the
children of the home to the beach, a tour of San Salvador, an
evangelical outreach to the local community, and, of course, a
trip to a local pupuseria to experience authentic El Salvador
cuisine. This trip affords the students of CVCA a chance to truly follow Jesus’ commands to Love God and
Love Others.
Norway – STEP: Short Term Exchange Program
Cost: $1650 – approximately 9-10 travel days
Leader: Mr. Steve Kasiguran
Number of students: 8-12
Norway is a beautiful country. Bergen, the second largest
city, sits on the western coast and is considered the
gateway to the fjords. A highlight of the trip is the “Norway
in a Nutshell” tour by train, bus, and boat through the
mountains and fjords. God’s handiwork is vividly displayed
in this part of the world!
The Short Term Exchange Program (STEP) Norway
provides the opportunity for home-to-home exchanges
between students from Cuyahoga Valley Christian
Academy and the Danielsen Videregaende School in
Bergen, Norway. Students from both schools learn about
the customs and culture of the exchange country. Our
students experience first-hand the commonality of faith we enjoy in Christ, as we typically attend church and
youth group services while we are in Bergen. They also develop a measure of independence as they learn
how to deal with a different currency and with people whose native language is not English.
Students interested in travel to Norway should also consider hosting a Norwegian student from Danielsen
School in Bergen Norway, for approximately two weeks in the fall of 2016. Each CVCA student typically stays
with the family of the Danielsen student they host in the fall. We will attend classes at Danielsen and make
sightseeing trips to different areas in and around Bergen.
JOSHUA EXPEDITION TRIPS -* Joshua Expeditions provides global opportunities for youth that
serve to encourage and highlight their gifts through hands-on experiences. Joshua Expeditions is a non-profit Christian organization founded for the
purpose of assisting schools and churches in bringing the world to young people and bringing the Gospel to the world. Joshua Expeditions has been

Philadelphia, PA – Urban Hope
Cost: $425 – 5 travel days
Contact: Dr. Matt Koons
Grades 10-12 – interested students must complete an application which needs
approval before submitting their trip deposit
Our Urban Hope trip to Philadelphia will allow students the chance to participate
in urban ministry and develop a deeper walk with Christ. As well, we will have
an opportunity to see some historical parts of the city.
The Urban Hop Center began in 1998 as a ministry of CE National, a Church Effectiveness ministry, and is
located in Northern Philadelphia. The ministry is a cross-cultural urban training center with a mission ‘to reach
the urban family through children and youth and train believers in cross-cultural ministry.” Through UHTC many
young people come to faith in the Lord Jesus, some of whom are now a regular part of the ministry! Urban
Hope is about people who are on a mission for Christ. Their deep desire is sharing the gospel and reaching
out to the community. As Urban Hope serves the youth and families in the neighborhood, they desire to reach,
teach, equip, and develop through the ongoing ministry of the center as well as through the church that they
have planted.
Purpose of Ministry Team
• To expose participants to the needs of the inner city and help them to develop a heart for its people.
•
To provide practical and transferable ministry training and experience which participants can use in
their home communities.
•
To train participants to be “on mission” in their everyday lives.
