Delaware, San Mateo (next to San Mateo High School) Dr. Kastner is a clinical professor in the departments of Psychology and Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington. She is the co-author of four books on adolescent development, numerous published academic articles and many parenting articles. She also has a private practice in which she sees children, couples and families. Raising a happy and successful child is a challenge for any parent, even the most patient and wisest among us. One day you are fine, and the next you are dealing with hair-trigger rudeness, arguments about everything, and down-right defiance of your reasonable rules. Yes, that is normal adolescent development. How much should you prioritize respect, compliance, and chores? And how do you improve their homework and achievement habits? You know you’re supposed to give them wiggle-room for teen moodiness, but still, how do you implement strategies which are effective, while also maintaining the parent-child bond? Come join us for a stimulating discussion about wise-minded parenting strategies and the predictors of success in adolescence. Nationally-acclaimed author Dr. Kastner will present highlights from her new book, Wise-Minded Parenting, and answer your questions about parenting tweens and teens. For more information, refer to http://www.laurakastnerphd.com and http://www.parentmap.com/article/wise-minded-parenting-7-essentials-forraising-successful-tweens-teens Admission: $5 per person in advance, $10 at the door Tickets may be purchased online at http://drkastner.bpt.me Parents are asked to attend without their children. Spanish and Mandarin interpretation will be available Dr. Kastner’s books will be available for purchase at the event.
