CHRISTINE GERETY Dr. Christine Gerety currently serves as the Associate Director of Outreach and Pastoral Care at St. Monica Catholic Community in Santa Monica. She coordinates several parish ministries and programs (including Pastoral Care, Peace & Justice, and Community Life ministries), and trains volunteer leaders in a variety of areas, including retreat & event planning. A graduate of Yale University and the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Gerety has a background in clinical psychology and truly enjoys working with ministry volunteers as they discover and develop their leadership talents. DR. DAVID LARA Before his present position in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, David worked for more than twenty years for three parishes in the areas of Youth Ministry and Religious Education. David, who studied in California State University of Northridge (CSUN), Loyola Marymount University, and St. John’s Seminary, served as a member of the Formation Committee in the Liturgical Commission of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles; Directors of Christian Leadership Institute; current member of the team for Faith and Life Institute and the RCL Benziger Hispanic Catechesis Advisory Committee. David is a Master Catechist and since 2005, works for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles as Regional Coordinator in the Office of Religious Education. JAN PEDROZA Program Coordinator for the Religious Education Congress and Master Catechist for the Office of Religious Education, Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Jan has been involved in Early Childhood education since 1993. She has been a member of the Los Angeles Archdiocese Early Childhood Board for 16 years. Jan has two grown daughters and a teenage son who still helps her prepare crafts for the workshops she teaches! She has presented at the Religious Education Congress in Anaheim, at the regional congresses throughout the L.A. Archdiocese, and given retreats for our Catholic Preschool Settings. DN. JIM CARPER Deacon Jim Carper is a recognized authority in Catholic stewardship and fundraising programs and an experienced leader in building support for faith‐based organizations. He is the Director of Marketing and Development for Holy Name of Jesus School in Los Angeles and the former Director of Stewardship at St. Monica Catholic Community in Santa Monica, Ca. In 2006, he was a member of the first delegation of fundraising professionals, one of only 12 selected from throughout the United States, to serve on a panel to share fundraising expertise in mainland China. Deacon Jim is a familiar speaker at national conventions such the National Association of YMCA Development Officers (NAYDO) and local Congresses such as the University Series and the Dive‐IN Series. He is a past president of the Simi Valley Education Foundation and the former Development Director of St. Peter Claver Parish in Simi Valley. BIANCA LANGLOIS Bianca Langlois was a Catholic Youth Minister for 16 years. She is currently the Director of Faith Formation at Saint Peter Claver Parish. Her substantial curriculum vitae includes: awarded Companions for the Journey, certified by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles as a Master Catechist, and Nationally Certified in Catholic Youth Ministry. DIRECTIONS TO SAINT PETER CLAVER PARISH in SIMI VALLEY Take the 118 (either eastbound or westbound) and exit Yosemite. Go south on Yosemite (going down the hill, not up) to Cochran (the first light at the bottom of the hill).
